DISASTROUS STAY – A 5-Star Resort Fallen to a Horrific 1-Star Experience My family and another family stayed at Crystal Waterworld in Belek for 7 nights starting August 3rd (Rooms 5401 and 5409). Having stayed here 4 years ago with great memories, I convinced our friends to join us. That decision turned out to be a massive mistake. The service quality has plummeted across all areas. Except for the hardworking, polite bartenders who did their best, everything else was a complete nightmare. Horrible Arrival & Filthy Rooms: We arrived late at night around 10:30 PM. The moment we stepped into our rooms, we were met with shock and horror: a overwhelming, foul stench of sewage/excrement that filled not only the rooms, but the entire resort complex—a stench that returned on two more nights during our stay. The cleanliness was utterly repulsive (photos attached): * The shower had dirty standing water on the floor, wet fixtures, and hair left behind by previous guests. * The bathroom door was splattered with mysterious, dried stains that were definitely not water. * The towels provided were already used. * The bathroom was full of mold, sloppy caulking repairs, mold around the edges, a piece of trash left on the furniture, and dirt all over the floor. Zero Air Conditioning & Unhelpful Management: The air conditioning in room 5409 was completely non-functional, turning the room into a sauna. We went to reception and asked to be moved to a lower floor—even though we paid extra for the more expensive terraced rooms. We explicitly requested a downgrade just to have a clean room that wasn't boiling hot. The manager came out and refused, stating they were fully booked and "that's what we paid for." We did NOT pay to stay in a filthy, moldy room without working AC! Housekeeping Failure: Desperate, I personally tipped the housekeeping staff €10 the next morning and explicitly begged her to clean the splattered bathroom door and the room properly. Despite keeping the "Please Clean Room" sign on the door every single day, that door remained uncleaned for the entire 6 days. Food and Pool Conditions: Trapped there like prisoners, we were appalled by how drastically the food variety had declined compared to 4 years ago. While we didn't starve, the quality was so poor that we had to leave the resort on several evenings just to get a decent meal. To top it off, while the pool water was warm, it was downright nauseating to swim while surrounded by visible mold creeping along all the pool edges. Do not waste your money on this place. It is nowhere near a 5-star resort anymore.

OUR 14-DAY FAMILY HOLIDAY WAS SERIOUSLY AFFECTED BY THE QUALITY OF SERVICE We have just completed a 14-day stay at Crystal Waterworld Aqua Collection, and unfortunately, this has been one of the most disappointing hotel experiences our family has ever had. We did not expect perfection. We did, however, expect a reasonable level of cleanliness, organisation, hospitality and service from a large international resort of this standard. Sadly, our experience fell far below those expectations. What makes this particularly frustrating is that these were not isolated incidents. We repeatedly raised our concerns during our stay and gave the hotel several opportunities to address them. Unfortunately, the problems continued. ROOM CLEANING – REPEATEDLY REPORTED AND STILL NOT RESOLVED The room cleaning was extremely disappointing. On multiple occasions, our room was not cleaned properly or was not cleaned at all. We repeatedly contacted the hotel and even agreed on alternative cleaning times. Despite these arrangements, the cleaners sometimes simply did not come. At one point, we had to complain for two consecutive days before the issue was finally addressed. And even after that, the cleaning remained superficial. This is particularly unacceptable when guests are staying for 14 days and paying for a holiday where basic housekeeping should be part of the expected service. BEAUTIFUL POOLS – BUT NOT ENOUGH SUNBEDS FOR THE NUMBER OF GUESTS The swimming pools themselves are beautiful. However, the number of guests compared with the available sunbeds is clearly disproportionate. If you do not put a towel down at approximately 6:00 AM, you have virtually no chance of finding a sunbed later in the morning. A holiday should not require guests to wake up at 6:00 AM simply to secure a place to sit around the pool. ENTERTAINMENT – NOT FAMILY FRIENDLY ENOUGH The entertainment shows were sometimes very good and clearly involved a lot of effort. However, we noticed that the presenters were heavily focused on Turkish-speaking guests, which made international guests feel significantly less included. More importantly, some of the performances contained content that we considered highly inappropriate for young children. We travelled with our 6-year-old daughter and were genuinely uncomfortable with some of the sexualised and sexist elements of certain shows. For a family resort, this should be taken seriously. THE MAIN RESTAURANT – CHAOTIC, OVERCROWDED AND POORLY MANAGED The main restaurant was one of the biggest disappointments of our stay. The resort appears to have chosen quantity over quality. The restaurant is extremely crowded and poorly organised. Finding a table can be difficult. Once you finally find one, you may have to search for someone to clear it. By the time the table is ready and you have managed to get your food, it is often already cold. We were also rarely, if ever, asked whether we wanted something to drink. Instead, we repeatedly had to stand in long queues ourselves. The staff generally appeared overwhelmed, unmotivated and unwilling to take initiative. We fully understand that a large resort can be busy. But being busy is not an excuse for poor organisation or poor service. VERY LIMITED FOOD VARIETY During our 14-day stay, the buffet changed very little. The selection was repetitive and offered very limited variation throughout our holiday. When you stay for two weeks, you reasonably expect some variety in the food. À-LA-CARTE RESTAURANTS – RUSHED AND UNCOMFORTABLE Unfortunately, the à-la-carte restaurants did not provide the level of service we expected either. We experienced long waiting times before being seated. Once seated, the service was extremely rushed. On one occasion, we received our dessert while we had not even finished our main course. When we questioned this, the explanation we received was particularly concerning: We were told that the food is served very quickly because guests need to finish and leave quickly so that the next guests can be seated. If that is genuinely the hotel's operating approach, then it clearly demonstrates the underlying problem: the number of guests being processed appears to be prioritised over the quality of the guest experience. FOOD RUNNING OUT – INCLUDING THE CRISPY CHICKEN STATION At several food outlets, items were regularly unavailable. At the crispy chicken station, for example, the chicken wings and drumsticks appeared to be unavailable approximately 9 out of 10 times, leaving only chicken nuggets as an option. Even more concerning was an incident where we were told that certain items were finished, while we could clearly see the food in a container behind the counter. We pointed this out several times. The employee continued to tell us that everything was finished. After we raised the issue for the third time, the food was eventually given to us, apparently reluctantly. When we questioned the employee about the situation, we were completely ignored. The chef also refused to speak with us. When I asked if I could speak to him briefly, his response was simply: “Outside?” We found this response extremely inappropriate and uncomfortable and, in the circumstances, it came across as intimidating. LACK OF LEADERSHIP AND ACCOUNTABILITY One of the most disappointing aspects of this stay was the apparent lack of leadership. With a few exceptions, many employees appeared disengaged or difficult to approach. Managers and chefs often appeared unwilling to take responsibility for problems or intervene when their teams were struggling. Instead of seeing colleagues helping each other during busy periods, employees often appeared focused only on completing their own individual task. For example, in the main restaurant, employees would clear plates but would not immediately clean and prepare the table for the next guests, creating additional delays. This is ultimately a management and organisational issue, not simply a staffing issue. OUR COMPLAINT TO GUEST RELATIONS We also raised our concerns directly with Guest Relations. Unfortunately, the experience there was equally disappointing. Initially, we struggled to find someone who could communicate with us properly in English. When I eventually explained the situation in detail to Ms. Gulsum, I was told that she understood my concerns but that she could not do anything because she was “only an employee”. That response left us extremely disappointed. As guests, we should not be expected to accept that our concerns cannot be addressed because the person receiving the complaint does not have the authority to act. We were also offered an à-la-carte reservation as a form of compensation. However, this restaurant is already included as part of the hotel stay. Therefore, we do not consider this an appropriate or meaningful resolution to the problems we experienced. THIS WAS NOT THE FAMILY HOLIDAY WE PAID FOR We travelled to Turkey as a family expecting to enjoy a relaxing and memorable holiday. Instead, a significant part of our holiday was spent dealing with problems, waiting in queues, looking for tables, chasing housekeeping, trying to obtain basic service and repeatedly raising complaints. The fact that we had to keep complaining throughout our holiday is, in itself, evidence that the problems were not isolated incidents. We gave the hotel the opportunity to resolve these issues while we were there. Unfortunately, they were not adequately resolved. That is why we are now formally raising this complaint. We believe that the overall level of service, organisation, housekeeping and guest experience we received was significantly below what we reasonably expected when booking and paying for this holiday. We are therefore requesting that the management of Crystal Waterworld Aqua Collection review our complaint seriously and provide us with a meaningful and proportionate resolution, rather than a standard gesture that does not reflect the extent of the problems we experienced. We have documented our concerns and are currently also considering what further steps and legal options may be available to us, including whether the services provided were in accordance with what was advertised and what we reasonably paid for. We would much rather resolve this directly and professionally with the hotel. However, we do expect the hotel to take responsibility for the experience we received and to provide a serious response. This was not a minor inconvenience. This significantly affected our family holiday and, in our view, the value of the holiday we paid for. We therefore ask management to review this complaint in full and come back to us with a concrete proposal for an appropriate resolution. We are not looking for excuses. We are looking for accountability and a fair solution. Crystal Waterworld Aqua Collection – unfortunately, a very disappointing experience and a level of service we would not expect from a resort of this size and standard.

We had a really enjoyable stay at Crystal Waterworld and would definitely recommend it, especially for families with children. There is so much for families to do around the resort, and our children absolutely loved the water park. There were plenty of activities to keep them entertained, which was a big plus for us. The staff were very friendly and welcoming throughout our stay. A special mention has to go to Yassine, who works in the main restaurant. He was brilliant with us from the beginning of our stay right through to the end. He was always kind, friendly and offering to help whenever he could, and he really made us feel welcome. There were a couple of small negatives. We found some of the food could be a little bland at times, although there was always a lot of choice and they did make an effort to offer different dishes and menus each evening. I think it’s really just a case of finding the things that you enjoy. We also had a slight issue when we first checked in as the room we were given didn’t have enough beds for our family. However, once we raised it with the team, they were quick to rectify the problem, which we really appreciated. Overall, we had a great stay. It’s a lovely resort for families, with lots to do, a brilliant water park and, most importantly, genuinely friendly and helpful staff. We would happily recommend Crystal Waterworld to anyone looking for a family-friendly resort in Antalya.
