Haydarpasha Palace

We were here at the start of the school summer holidays. I can highly recommend this hotel if you have children with you. Our 9 year old.granddaughter had the time of her life! Rooms: Clean, comfortable and have an actual bed for the third person. We paid a little more for pool view, which I'd recommend. Size: it's a large hotel, which had been a concern to me, but it copes. There was always a table to be found for meals, some beds by the pool without getting up at silly times. Queuing was fairly minimal for drinks etc. Food & drink: excellent. Probably the best we've had from a reasonably priced all inclusive. The mocktails menu was a particular highlight. Staff & service: excellent. Cannot rate them highly enough. Pools: a real highlight. Great areas for the littlest kids to the oldest. Including us at 61! The water slides were excellent, and again, very little queuing. There was an infinity pool that looked lovely, with really comfy loungers and huge umbrellas. Adult only, which was fair enough. There was even a large covered pool for when you want the kids out of the sun, and a big grotto area of the main pool providing shade. Beach: ok. Decent area for swimming, but a bit underwhelming like a lot of Turkish beaches. Watersports centre there, which we used several times. Not cheap, but quality & care was good. Entertainment: good. Some excellent shows. There is always something going on, you just need to seek it out. No pressure to join in with activities. A great kids club which the children can drop into when it suits them. Not childcare, but activities and entertainment. Transfer: a bit of a trek, but worth it. Was about 2.5 hours with Jet2, quicker on the way back. A clean and well maintained, visually stunning hotel. Inside and out. I was dubious about the reviews on here, feeling there were too many rave ones to be legitimate. But they are! And now I'm on here raving about it myself!!

I recently stayed at this hotel and had a fantastic experience from start to finish. The atmosphere was brilliant—welcoming, relaxing, and full of a lovely vibe. The service was excellent, with friendly and attentive staff who made the stay even more enjoyable. The food was also lovely, with a great choice and everything tasting fresh and delicious. Overall, I had a wonderful stay and would definitely recommend this hotel to others.

Overall, we had a good stay, but there are quite a few things that could be improved. Hotel & Rooms The hotel itself is very nicely designed, especially inside. The interior areas look elegant, modern and well thought out. The rooms are spacious, fresh and comfortable. Outside, the swimming pools look nice, but I was less impressed with the surroundings of the buildings around the pool area. They could definitely be more attractive and better maintained. Guests & General Atmosphere Unfortunately, some guests could be quite arrogant and unfriendly and did not always respect basic rules or other people. For example, in the lifts, people often try to get in before allowing others to get out. There were also situations where guests ignored basic pool rules, such as jumping into the water right next to other people. 👍 Plus * Very nicely designed and elegant interior. * Spacious, fresh and comfortable rooms. * Friendly and helpful staff. * Good food in terms of taste and variety. * Nice facilities for children, including inflatable play equipment. 👎 Minuses 🍽️ Restaurant * Smoking is a major problem. People smoke everywhere, including at tables directly underneath signs clearly stating that the area is non-smoking. Unfortunately, the staff do not seem to enforce the rules. People smoke during the mini disco, around the swimming pool and even on the beach. For non-smokers, it can be really difficult to find a comfortable place. Out of around 40 tables in the restaurant, only about six are designated as non-smoking. * Cleanliness could be much better. Tables are often cleaned in a way that does not create a pleasant environment for eating. Dirty placemats and cutlery are sometimes left on the tables, and waiters do not always replace them. The tissue holders are also often dirty. * Be careful with the meat. On some occasions, the meat was not cooked properly, so you need to pay attention to make sure you are not eating undercooked meat. * Not enough tables and too few staff. It is often difficult to find a free table, and then you may have to wait for someone to clean it. Tables are not always cleared promptly after previous guests. This may not be the staff’s fault, but rather a management issue — there simply seem to be too many guests and not enough staff or available seating. 🏊 Swimming Pools & Common Areas * Sunbed reservation is a problem. Some guests come as early as 7:00 AM, leave their towels on the sunbeds and then disappear for hours. The hotel does not seem to do anything about it. * It is extremely loud. Music plays from the morning until almost midnight. I like music, but even for me it was simply too much. It was difficult to find a quiet and relaxing place, especially when travelling with children. Sometimes I felt like I couldn’t hear my own thoughts. 🏖️ Beach * The beach was a disappointment. I simply did not like it. It was dirty, unpleasant and did not give the impression of a well-maintained beach area. Compared with the rest of the hotel, this was one of the weakest parts of the resort for me. Overall The hotel looks better than it actually feels. It has a beautiful interior, spacious rooms, friendly staff and some very nice facilities. However, the overall experience is affected by several issues that, in my opinion, should be addressed by management. The biggest problems for us were the cleanliness and organisation of the restaurant, smoking in non-smoking areas, guests reserving sunbeds, excessive noise and the condition of the beach. The hotel has a lot of potential and could offer a really great experience, but better management, stronger enforcement of basic rules and more attention to cleanliness and organisation would make a huge difference.

Extremely Disappointing Experience at Haydarpasha Palace Hotel We visited Haydarpasha Palace Hotel last year and had a fantastic experience, which is exactly why we decided to return this year for 2 weeks as a part of our month-long holiday in Turkey. Unfortunately, this year could not be more different. What was once a hotel we genuinely enjoyed has become a place we are now desperate to leave. Before booking anything — including our flights — we contacted the hotel directly for a quote. We were given a price, and based on that quote, we booked our entire month-long holiday to Turkey. However, when we subsequently requested to pay, the price suddenly increased significantly. This resulted in months of emails and back-and-forth discussions, even involving the hotel’s General Director, before we eventually reached an agreed price. (Higher than what was quoted and budgeted for!) After all of that, we arrived expecting the same standard we experienced last year. Instead, we have been met with a completely different hotel. Food and cleanliness The food quality has dropped dramatically. Last year, the food was good quality, varied and well organised. This year, it is chaotic, the standard is noticeably lower, and the organisation is extremely poor. There is one place to get chips and queue is regularly the length of the entire indoor restaurant. This is supposed to be a luxury holiday, yet guests are standing in enormous queues for something as basic as chips. The outdoor BBQ area is another major concern. There is a constant smell of gas, which is extremely worrying, while the amount of smoke coming from the BBQ, positioned so close to dining tables, is completely overwhelming. The cleanliness of both the rooms and the hotel generally is also well below the standard we would expect from this type of hotel. Animation and entertainment Last year, the animation team were visible, energetic and genuinely involved with guests. They spread themselves across the bridge and created a fun atmosphere. This year, they are practically invisible. There appears to be very little effort to engage guests. A song is played at around 10am and that seems to be about it. Pool entertainment is virtually nonexistent. Aqua gym, aqua gym and oh…. Aqua gym! Oh wait- water polo at 3pm which is held in the indoor pool, which begs the question: who pays thousands for a holiday in Turkey to spend their time inside? The evening entertainment is no better. The shows have been extremely disappointing and, in our opinion, are scheduled far too late for families with young children who are already exhausted by that time. The beach The beach is filthy. There is seemingly no cleaning presence, and the condition is nowhere near what we would expect. There is also a rickety structure being referred to as a “pier” — if it can even be called that — with a warning advising guests not to go onto it. This hardly inspires confidence in the hotel’s facilities or maintenance. A serious accident — and a shocking response The most serious issue of our entire stay occurred when my partner had a serious accident coming off the drop slide. He seriously injured his arm and suffered a serious head injury after falling backwards onto the metal stairs. The accident occurred because there was no adequate anti-slip matting in place. I contacted the hotel by email regarding the incident and received no response. Guest Relations were equally disappointing. They appeared completely disinterested in our concerns and simply said they would put a mat there. There was no apology, no genuine concern, and not even a simple question asking whether my partner was okay. Most concerning of all, it has now been almost a week since the accident — and there is still no mat there. This is absolutely unacceptable. A serious accident involving a serious head injury should not be brushed aside. The fact that the same apparent hazard remains in place almost a week later speaks volumes about how seriously the hotel’s management appears to be taking guest safety. Hygiene and illness There is a constant smell of faeces around the pool area. At first, we assumed it was coming from nappies being placed in the bins. However, we watched one of the bins finally being emptied at around 3pm — apparently the first time that day, and only once it was overflowing — yet the smell remained. I can particularly strongly smell it coming from the refrigerator where people get those ridiculous tiny water cartons from, which is extremely concerning from a hygiene perspective. We have spoken to numerous families who have complained of serious sickness (one family who actually cut their holiday short to return to England), and I have personally suffered from gastroenteritis during our stay. I cannot say what caused this, but given the number of guests reporting illness and the hygiene concerns we have witnessed, it is impossible not to question whether there could be a connection. The pools are regularly littered with cups and straws floating in the water. Again, this is not what we expected from a hotel of this supposed standard. A huge disappointment The most frustrating part of all of this is that we know this hotel can do better, because we experienced it ourselves last year. How can it have changed so drastically in such a short time! We returned because we loved our previous experience. We have always enjoyed spending our months in Turkey, but this year has been completely different. The food, cleanliness, entertainment, hygiene, organisation and — most importantly — the response to a serious injury have all been deeply disappointing. We are still at the hotel as I write this, and instead of looking forward to enjoying the remainder of our holiday, we are counting down the days until we can return to England. That is a very sad statement to make when we have always loved our time in Turkey. Based on our experience this year, we would not return to Haydarpasha Palace Hotel and would never recommend it to anyone. The huge difference between last year’s experience and this year’s is genuinely shocking, and the hotel’s response to serious safety and hygiene concerns has left us extremely disappointed.
