The Bluebay Hotel in Zanzibar is located overlooking a long beautiful stretch of white sandy beach. The hotel has outstanding service whereby nothing is too much trouble - the staff go the extra mile to ensure all the guests are happy. Mike, the hotel manager was extremely helpful, attentive & efficient. He made such a difference to my stay, ensuring it was most enjoyable & he always said hello with a smile. Ibbrahim, one of the chefs took the trouble to make me poached eggs in the morning - most enjoyable. All the staff are pleasant, polite, attentive and always there for you. The golf carts are a great way to go to your room, the drivers are always happy to drop you off at your room. The bedrooms are immaculate & are attended to twice a day. The four restaurants are wonderful, all serving delicious & excellent quality food. The location of the restaurants is idyllic with a choice of Asian, Italian, Indian & a huge buffet style restaurant in the hotel. There is an enormous choice of different types of food, all beautifully presented & cooked to perfection. The pools, bars and areas around the hotel are kept immaculate - you always see people cleaning or attending to the most beautiful gardens surrounding the hotel. There is a new children's area, which is most inviting with beautiful artistic art work of animals on the walls, books to read & other entertainment. There is also a great games area which was most popular & you will not be hungry as there is a snack & coffee bar located near the games area & the pools. There is wonderful entertainment every night around the pool area, from amazing singers, acrobatic demonstrations, dancers & special Zanzibar evenings. The coconut demonstration was extremely interesting with the opportunity to have a coconut drink at the end. I had an excellent stay at the Bluebay Hotel in Zanzibar & I would definitely agree that it is a FIVE STAR HOTEL. I would completely recommend it & I'm sure you will have an amazing time. Thank you! Beautiful place with an excellent service ! Every single staff member was incredibly friendly and helpful. I love the spaciousness, the gardens and the infinity pool with the stunning view of the Indian Ocean and the pristine beach. The restaurants are great, the food is superb and their hospitality is outstanding.
The service, cleanliness of the hotel, and the manager’s care and attention to guests were all at a very high level.
Jambo! Nice resort. Lovely staff. 1.5hrs from Stone Town/Airport. Long drive to get anywhere touristy. Twin room. Good facilities. Lovely spa. Resort could have been anywhere though. Zero African influences IMO. Hakuna Matada!!
The hotel is located very close to the beach, while some houses are situated a bit farther from the lobby, it's at worst a 5-10 minutes walk. There's plenty of roads and sidewalks to walk around if you get bored with one route :) The atmosphere is really what deserves the most praise. The houses/rooms are stylized to look like tranquil African cottages, part of the staff is dressed in Massai clothing and it all really feels like entering a different, calmer world. It also seemed pretty easy on noise, there wasn't really any music playing at the pool (except for aerobics). But don't get me wrong, there were plenty of activities to be had, with football and aerobics sessions every day, as well as the availability of the gym and tennis courts on the hotel grounds. During dinner there was live music and on some evenings dancer groups would perform (shoutout to the b-boys from Stone Town we saw on our first day). One time we were also surprised after the whole dinner layout was switched for a magical Zanzibar themed evening with crazy good local drummers and dancers for a peek at the island's culture :) The room we stayed in was really nice, both bedroom and bathroom were fairly big. The bed had a mosquito net, though we barely encountered any mosquitoes during our stay. The room had a TV, a couch that can work as an additional bed and a balcony with a lovely view. In the bathroom we also had a working safe, a fridge and every day we'd get a much needed bottle of water, because while the tap water is filtered it is unfortunately not safe to drink on Zanzibar! The food was so good! The all-inclusive package covered all my needs, there was plenty to choose from for breakfast, lunch and dinner. I'm primarily a meat lover and there was always chicken and beef in *some* wonderful sauce :) However, vegetarians and vegans will definitely have plenty of options too, with a selection of salads, fruits and even a lovely vegan chocolate cake every once in a while. Outside of meal times there was also the Palms bar, providing both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages all day, as well as the Blue Delhi cafe with popcorn and separately paid cakes & ice cream. Big thanks to all of the buffet staff and waitresses/waiters!!! Unfortunately I don't remember the names (except for Grażyna, much love from Poland!!!), but you people deserve a lot of praise for the amount of commitment and good energy you were bringing everyday <3 Also on the topic of service and staff: After a miscommunication between our travel agency and the hotel caused us to get a single bed (we were supposed to get two separate ones), my man Mike did all he could to get us a better room and make us happy in any way he could, thanks a lot for having us man, it was a pleasure!!! Big thanks to the guys at the Palms bar too, for the many Indian Ocean cocktails (it's the best, go try it!) and getting my mom medicine for her stomach issues! We really enjoyed our stay and are more than happy to recommend Bluebay. Once again, much love to all the staff, Asante Sana my friends!
