We arrived late because of an air traffic control issue, but as it was just us and another couple needing to book in we were seen to quickly and were shown to our room. It was overstuffed with beds, a double and two singles making balcony access very difficult. The decor and soft furnishings were tired and unwelcoming. Preparing for bed we found the bathroom sink was blocked and the toilet seat loose. The bathroom itself was tiny contained bath and over bath shower, toilet and inset sink with nowhere to place toiletries etc. The hairdryer was located in bathroom so no one else could use bathroom while hairdryer in use. There was no full length mirror.Remember, this was a room capable of sleeping four people! The balcony when accessed was tiny with just two chairs and a low table. No airer for drying clothes and no laundry facilities on site. We stayed for 2 weeks outside school holidays. In high season there would be nowhere near enough loungers poolside. The quiet pool for adults only had maybe 24 loungers and even out of season there was seldom availability though the Tui rep on our initiation visit insisted there was no problem but by the way if you put your towel on a bed before 8 a.m. pool attendants would remove - if there was no problems with availability why say that? There was smoking allowed everywhere which was very unpleasant for non-smokers by the pool, beside the bar everywhere. In general cleanliness in rooms and in public areas was probably adequate but not exceptional. The food was plentiful and varied, always a good selection of fresh salads, pizza always available and chips and pasta dishes all stuff kids like. There was a roast each day and usually fish. The hot dishes could have been hotter. The coffee came from a machine and was undrinkable. No fresh juice at breakfast again just machine stuff. I was tempted to go out and buy myself a teaspoon because waiting staff seemed unable to provide indeed some mornings place settings had tablespoons! I did make a point of mentioning this and was told it would be remedied but it never was. As the name suggests ‘Oasis’ is a watering hole in the desert and there was nothing and nowhere to go round about the hotel. It is in a residential area with nothing close by other than a couple of pubs, a couple of Chinese souvenir tat shops , car rental companies and a drive through McD’s. Downtown Limassol is a €2. Bus trip away - about 20-25 mins. Be careful to have the correct fare if possible because we were short changed on one occasion and given northern Cyprus coins in our change on another occasion. The sea is just a short walk away but the beach is not clean. Indeed the whole area is run down and is in a redevelopment phase. The hotel staff seemed to be almost in classifications - the reception area staff were oriental, the pool sweepers Thai or Philippine, the waiting staff easterneuropean and none seemed very happy. The exception being the entertainment troupe, a mix of people from Western Europe headed by Christianos always cheered wherever they went. I did wonder where the the actual Cypriot people were! We have stayed in several Tui hotels over the years and have kept coming back, this holiday will give me pause because I don’t recognise these 4 &5 star reviews from our two week experience
