TUI BLUE Makarska

Had a great weeks holiday. Great spot away from hustle and bustle of other towns nearby. Well fed all week always plenty of choice. Breakfast very good. Good live music most evenings. Lovely bar area and outside seating to relax. Good swimming pools. Staff always helpful and friendly.

In a nutshell: Plesantly suprised as to how close hotel was to the village. Reception staff super welcoming. Room, as pictured, a little basic but comfortable with annoying cupboards built in making the room entry very squashed and narrow. Safe included. Wouldn't hurt to put a picture up to make it a little more homely though. Good shower. Room very clean & housekeeping very good. Balcony though small looked out over the village and bay. Common areas, carpets heavily stained, as if watermarked. a lot of chipped paint. I would not go to this hotel with reduced mobility as there were a lot of stairs. There was a lift but to my knowledge this did not get you to the pool and definitely not to the beach. Beach in town was more accessible. Breakfast lovely. Lots of choice, various milks, lots of hot & cold offerings both local & international. 3 types of honey, lots of yoghurt versions, granolas, cheeses, meats, breads and pastries. Staff v efficient. Gluten free breakfast offering - lots of sealed bread choices. But here there was a massive issue. Next to the GF products was a single toaster marked clearly (only in English) as GF. However the main toaster was broken. The main bread stand was right next to the GF toaster so everyone was merilly using the GF toaster for their non-GF products. I spoke to the manager who kindly offered to toast any GF bread in the kitchen for us, however I said to him that he should then take down the GF toaster sign and would need to replace this in the future. The sign remained in place for a further 3 days and I even turned it around so there could be no mix up, only to find it popped back up! This is poor and very easily remedied with a new sign offering to toast GF in the kitchen. No GF beer on offer here - not unusual - however most places in the village offered Sommersby or Aspalls, but the hotel did not stock any cider. Would be nice for a GF person to have this as an option, especially as it was obviously available. Pool areas x 2, main pool v nice with lovely sea views. Lots of beds and brollies - never ran out. No race for the lounger! Area v clean, but some damaged items around, some areas a little unlevel and a few pool tiles missing. Bases from broken or removed larger umbrellas still in place. Would be nice if these were cleared away. Handy little pool bar at each pool with nice lunch selection which also offered 2/3 gluten free options. Service one day (from the kitchen) was super slow for one dish. Think they forgot it. Infinity pool, v nice but lots of missing tiles. Was a discarded cigarette butt by the pool the whole time we were there and a green line at the water level. Very stepped access. Lovely sea views here & pine trees offering a bit of shade & greenery, great pool bar where staff could not have been more helpful with GF options. My lounger was quite ripped & never changed for one which wasn't, even though others were availabe. Funnily this made it more comfy so I used it several days but was surprised nobody removed it. Beach area is public but this was no issue - just you do see some kids on the weekend when you think you're in adults only, but only because the beach walk is public. Town had nice scattering of restaurants and a couple of cafes but they tended to all offer the same food. But were nice. A few tourist shops but quiet and local. One night the locals put on a music and dance event which was well attended by the tourists. All in a lovely holiday but there is definitely room for thought and improvement - whether it be the start or the end of the season I would expect a hotel to do rolling repairs but there was a lot of tidying up to be done.

This review is for a TUI excursion from the hotel. Fish picnic on boat David. TUI give very little information for this €60pp trip so I thought it might be helpful to give some insight. The trip departs from Podgora which is 6K from Igrane. You get picked up by the supermarket at 8.30am. The boat departed Podgora at 9.15am. It was packed. 170 is there max occupancy and we had that many. This means there are not enough seats. The benches are really hard so bring a cushion. It takes 2 hours to get to the first stop on Hvar. Just an hour here to get a coffee basically. Back on board by 12.15pm when you get the picnic. This was ok but we didn’t need to eat at this point and the white wine which is served with it is warm. An hour then to Bol where you have 3 hours. If you want to go to Zlatni Rat you take a water taxi at €8 a pop each way which then means that you have an hour and a half max at the beach. The beach is like Barry Island on a bank holiday. This is definitely a spot that is best viewed from afar rather than be on it. Then another 2 hours to get back on those terrible seats. The crew are great and do their best but had I had all the info from TUI I would not have booked this trip.

We stayed at the Tui Blue Makarska in August 2026. A really nice hotel in a beautiful location, perfectly located on the beach in a small fishing village. Very quaint and chilled, the atmosphere was so relaxing. The hotel itself has lots of pluses - rooms are spacious, clean and comfortable. Housekeeping is exceptional, with daily towel change if needed and replenish of teas, coffee & milk. Our sea view room on the side of the hotel had a perfect view of the bay, which we found out was one of the better viewpoints. Breakfast options were average, and the dining area was busy and a little chaotic at times. Fruit selection was limited, and it would have been nice to have some more choice. There was a toaster for gluten free bread, but strangely none for other breads which was disappointing. Lunch in the Culinarium was very nice, as was room service dinner which we had twice in our 9 night stay. The resident cat was very sleepy but gorgeous. Some parts of the hotel are a little tired, such as both the main pool and infinity pools with many cracked tiles, loose filter hole cover and debris around. It was a shame, and we rarely saw any staff cleaning these areas, even collecting glasses and clearing tables was very slow. These areas would have benefitted from some extra cleaning as appeared a little dirty at times. There are some lovely staff at this hotel, mostly very attentive and friendly. The main pool area male staff were less enthusiastic, and service here was the bare minimum most days. Overall, a lovely chilled adults only hotel which, with a few little improvements and attention to detail could be just perfect.

Had a lovely 10 holiday. Although the transfer from airport was about 2 hours it was worth it. Igrane is a lovely small village but not overcrowded. Our room was very spacious and clean with a large balcony. The day after arrival we did the 'hidden secrets' tour with Josep.He gave us a wonderful insight to the area with his knowledge. We did the 'olive oil tasting' also with Josep. Surprisingly we were the only ones there but really enjoyed this. We spent time at the Sunset bar, served mainly by Rosario and Nikola who gave great service and recommended some lovely cocktails. Spent 1 day with a Bali Bed which included prossecco and fruit, this works out better than hiring sunbed on the beach. We were 1/2 board. The breakfast and evening meals were perfect and we we're always greeted by the restaurant team. Mario served us most of the time, always with a smile, he even remembered our room number and what we would drink each night 🤣 Thankyou to all the hotel staff for making sure we have such a perfect, memorable holiday!
