TUI BLUE Makarska

Bit of a mixed bag. Firstly, the hotel is in a great location, with a nearby village and harbour / sea front, and a great public beach. The staff are really welcoming and friendly. The hotel is kept very clean and tidy. There's plenty of shade from the pine trees in the hotel grounds if the sun gets too much. The excursions that we went on were really good and very interesting. Some of the odd things. TUI say that their hotels reflect the surroundings that they're in. Just corporate blandness including the rooms as far as we could see. You would have to look hard to say you were in Croatia. Upon arrival, our room had a couple of issues. The wooden slats in the bottom of the bed had fallen out so the mattress collapsed as soon as you sat on it. I made a temporary DIY repair. The basin plug was jammed. I reported these issues to reception on two occasions during our stay but no repairs were made? The hotel does not serve lunches or even any snacks, so it's a case of nil-by-mouth until evening dinner. However, there's a good local supermarket for snacks. And the local family run restaurants on the harbour-side are amazing. We lunched in these places and took most of our evening meals here, as they are great value for money, really lovely food, free after dinner liquors and they supply tap water for free!, which the hotel doesn't? In the evenings you have to pay for water! But don't let these niggles put you off. The hotel has a really nice calm atmosphere. They get in some great evening entertainment. The surrounding area is amazing. The sea water is crystal clear and will really revive you on a hot day! And do make use of the local restaurants!

Lovely week at Makarska Tui Blue Hotel. The hotel is set in a beautiful location on a gorgeous thin stretch of beach and the sea is great for swimming in. Remember to take sea shoes, as the beach is quite stony. The hotel has two pools overlooking the sea, a main pool and infinity, both nice and warm. A few minutes walk takes to the quiet marina with just a few bars and restaurants, along with a supermarket and a couple of souvenir shops. The hotel is clean and has comfortable bedrooms which are roomy. Definitely worth getting a sea view room and ask for a high floor for amazing views. The bands and singers playing on the outside terrace every evening were always good and we enjoyed having an after dinner drink and listening to the music most nights. The staff and waiters are very friendly and the outside areas of the restaurant are great for a sea view whilst eating breakfast or dinner. The food was good but wasn’t always as hot as I would like it to be. The live cooking stations are excellent which ensures hot freshly cooked food. Overall I would recommend this hotel and would return again.

WOW !!! what a lovely surprise. We have just returned after a ten day stay half board, what a great holiday. The Hotel is spotless, lovely room with a sea view very modern. Food wise breakfast was great and the evening meal was also great, good selection. We did eat out a couple of times as the village is 5 minutes walk away great restaurants as well. Lots of local activity the village water polo team playing, and while we were there a fisherman festival. A big thank you to all the staff, from the pool bar staff, restaurant team and cleaners. This is a suggestion not a criticism the room fridge stock with drinks (payable) and the glass on the veranda drinking area has alot of bird droppings on it, thats it, so a big THANK YOU !!!

We had a great week here in June. The hotel is lovely and modern in a great location on the sea front. There are two pools and we never had a problem getting a sun-bed at one or the other and never saw any evidence of beds being reserved! Both pools have bars where you can get drinks, but no snacks were available while we were there (no bad thing!!!!) other than ice cream! There is a small shingle beach on the doorstep (I recommend beach shoes for getting in and out of the water!) There are no sun-beds owned by the hotel but you can hire them for €25. There are also water sports available. Our room was a good size with a balcony and a great sea view. The bed was so comfortable and the air conditioning was great. Housekeeping was also great and the room was lovely and clean. Breakfast was the normal buffet style with a really great choice for all tastes. We were only B&B but did choose to eat in the hotel on a couple of nights. Again buffet style with plenty of choice. It was €28pp which I thought was very reasonable value compared to what we paid in local restaurants. All of the staff in the hotel restaurant were friendly and efficient but with special mention of Renato, James Paul, and Steve on the Omelette station who were all lovely. There were no lunch options at the time we stayed. There was an onsite cafe but it was only offering cake. There was live music each evening which was a lovely end to the evening. Igrane is beautiful with a stunning mountain backdrop and sea views over the islands. It was quite quiet at the time we were there, which we loved. Apparently it gets a lot busier in July & August. There is a good choice of restaurants which were all very nice, with friendly staff. In particular we liked Snack Bar Excalibur was really good value and great food - my husband said it was possibly the best burger he’s ever had!! The pizza was also delicious! Restaurant Skif was also very nice with a more traditional menu and lovely staff. All in all a really lovely week away and I would thoroughly recommend this hotel.

Arrived at Hotel after a long transfer from the airport. Was greeted and dealt with politely and quickly , offered a non alcoholic drink ( much needed) and shown to our room (628) First impressions was WoW!! Gorgeous room and an amazing view !! Room was very spacious, clean and smelt lovely. Shower and toilet were seperate from the hand basin, which I thought a bit strange, but did get used to it. There was a work station in the room, which in my opinion was a waste as more storage would have been useful. Layout of wardrobe a bit strange as being so near door. Disappointed that there was no complimentary water in room, in other hotels that was always the case. Also, arrived on a birthday , 🎂 no acknowledgement of this either. Room was looked after extremely well, by the hardworking staff. Restaurant was clean and spacious, food was good quality , plenty of choice and freshly cooked food was available. Waiters cleared tables very quickly, especially Henry ( bird man). Each evening we were greeted by Renato, excellent front of hose for the restaurant.. well done !😀 Pool areas were in my opinion in need of some work. Umbrellas did not function properly, sun beds not very clean and toilets needed upgrading. Weeds in paving area, but this was also in other parts of the gardens too. Lots of bars and shops just outside of hotel .. used these for a drink of an evening as hotel prices were a bit high, also to help keep these areas open. On the whole had a great time, good staff, good location .. thank you all for your hard work 🙂
