This hotel is in an isolated location some 23 miles from Dubrovnik with its own beach and swimming pools ( albeit saltwater ) The hotel is tired and in need of refurbishment. The quality of the food is poor and very repetitive especially sweets.Very liitle choice for vegetarians. Apart from the first night there are no tea and coffee making facilities in the room. No bottled water is available. 5 Euros for a 750 ml bottle.Basic house wine also very expensive. Most of staff very friendly and helpful. There is a small supermarket just outside the hotel for purchasing drinks at a reasonable cost. THIS IS NOT A 5 STAR HOTEL

More like a 4 star hotel than a 5 star. Little things let it down such as supplying a kettle in the room with only 2 complimentary coffee sachets on arrival, they do not replace them so you have to buy your own or buy a coffee at the bar. Half board but the evening meal does not include a drink so you need to budget at least 5 Euros every meal time for a bottle of water.

This review is subjective as most are, but having our expectations already high due to the 5 star rating I wanted to point out some areas which were not so '5 star' A Great start to the Jet2 package holiday giving us an almost private transfer to the hotel with just 1 other lovely couple and a very informative driver. It took about an hour from the airport with a quick check in. We were allocated a room (212) with a sea view overlooking Slano quayside and the private hotel beach. A spacious, clean room with shower over bath, great aircon, comfy bed and peacefully quiet at night after watching the sunset**. The saltwater pool is huge and as we are both keen swimmers, with the pool opening at 7am, a few lengths before breakfast suited us fine. There is also a large indoor pool. We had a great week, but tinged with a few disappointments, hence the 3/5. **Over the week, quite a few large coastal cruise ships/yachts, accommodating 30-50 people moored up a stones throw away from our balcony, at times their engines running, creating noise and fumes so we had to keep our balcony doors shut at times. On the Thursday we counted 15 of these super mini cruise ships (see photo) and this is regular through the season. This must have an affect on the quality of the sea water as the quay is next to the beach where the bathing area is and the sea is quite murky and not that clean. The beach itself is quite strange, made up of limestone gravel which really digs into your feet, and directly by the sea shore it is mainly 'hard core' chippings. I cant imagine that this is 'natural' as I've never encountered this type of beach 'make up' before in Croatia! Pebble, shingle, even concrete platforms, but never like this so take your sea shoes. 10 minutes walk either side of the hotel you can find better beaches and cleaner water. After a couple of days I asked reception if we could have more coffee/tea/milk for the room, and was astonished to be told that they only supply a 'complimentary drink' on arrival !!!! This is supposed to be a 5 star hotel and you only get one cuppa out of them, nah, I'm not having that?? The food at breakfast is what you would expect, but we were surprised to discover there wasn't any yoghurt at all, a staple breakfast item. Bespoke omelettes were a bonus though. Evening meals were varied and plentiful, but we were charged on one occasion 6.5 euros for a (non brand) small bottle of tonic water, (more than a large beer) and when challenged about this there was no explanation, just a 'sorry' but we have no Schweppes. Upon checking out you have to pay the tourist tax plus items charged to your room. I paid without question, but in a 5 star, in fact any hotel I expect to at least be asked if I've enjoyed my stay, or do you need help with your cases, do you need a taxi etc, but nothing from the receptionist who seemed rather perturbed and unhappy. Maybe its been a long hard season for her. I've mentioned the small negatives as its those that can make or break a holiday for some. Its not really a five star but could easily be with a few changes.
