Hotel Astarea I und II

Hotel was in beautiful location, room small but everything needed, right on seafront, good access to boats & bus (uber) indoor pool perfect for lengths, gym, Some people did reserve sunbeds, but we managed always find some whatever time headed down, as notes saying no reserving, they where good quality & lots umbrellas for shade, Downside food there is just enough for guests, meant shut at 9, went down at 8.20, only one choice mains & desserts all gone. we recommend go just b & b , eat out as no entertainment in hotel either. Food & entertainment is what make this not a 5 star, views & modern feel made it 5, would definitely recommend.

I’d say this is just ok, resort is beautiful but very quiet if that’s what you want then great for relaxing. Beach is pebble but the water is crystal clear and warm the only bad lint is hotel doesn’t own beach and if you want a sunbed you have to pay through the nose each day. Sadlythe panic for reserving sunbeds at this small pool is the same as everywhere in Europe madness ! Be quick or miss out the signs they put up are pointless and disregarded even by their own staff. Good options in the village are good but limited overall it’s a nice place to be but you do feel overcharged for most things Croatia is no longer a budget friendly destination however beautiful it may be. Be warned there is no pool or other facilities at the Sister hotel Mlini so everyone comes to astrea for the facilities too. Mlini is beautiful with short walks to neighbouring villages for a change of scene, the coastline and waters are the highlight plus the proximity to Dubrovnik old town by water taxi. Just bring plenty of money

Sadly, what had been a lovely holiday was ruined by my husband and I being bitten all over by bed bugs! We had a few bites at the hotel but thought it was mosquitoes, my husband squashed a bug, which left a blood mark on the bed, but again we didn't think anything of it. My husband's back started to show the bites in a distinct pattern on the night we got home and it just got worse. After eventually making contact with someone at Tui and the hotel we were informed by Tui that as we hadn't reported the while we were on holiday they can't do anything but apologise!! The hotel gave a detailed description of not finding anything in the bed and no other complaints from guests. The hotel also said bed bugs show immediately. Bed bug bites usually take 1-3 days to show, but can actually take 14 days to appear , it was a 6 day holiday and obviously we now realise that what we thought were outdoor insect bites were not! Anyway, great location, nice beach, standard hotel/buffet, nice bar by the beach too.

We travelled to Croatia for the 1st time with our two boys, aged 18 and 19. The hotel is a short transfer from the airport, so we were there in 20 minutes. As we arrived late, the restaurant was closed, but the hotel had put out some food for us which was a lovely touch. We still can’t believe that this hotel is only a 3-Star.. We’ve been to 4-Star plus hotels that weren’t as good. I think it has been recently modernised and they have done this to a very high standard. Let’s start with the cleanliness of the hotel.. It’s immaculate, everywhere you go.. The rooms were very clean, modern and fairly spacious. Beds were comfy and there was a small fridge. The food was exceptional and we never once felt that it lacked quality or variety. The drinks, although not the cheapest were great, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic. The wine was very good. Hotel facilities are also very good. The gym and indoor pool/sauna/steam room were better than most I’ve been to, back in the UK. Getting a sunbed wasn’t an isssue. Finally, the staff were lovely and we would definitely rerun in the future. Thank you.

Not sure why this hotel gets negative reviews, I recently stayed in June and thoroughly enjoyed my stay the hotel is very clean and quiet the rooms are cleaned and fresh towels replaced everyday. Yes the pool area is busy in high season but that's to be expected. We spent most of our time on the beach the sun loungers are 10 euro to hire and parasol extra 8 euro per lounger / parasol again this did not bother us as we could easily just have layed towels down on the beach and hired the parasol only. The setting is beautiful right on the beach and plenty of restaurants nearby, we had breakfast at the hotel and yes the breakfast could be a lot better and room only would have been adequate for us. We ate at the Oleander Restaurant & Bistro which is part of the hotel on the beach and the food was beautiful but there are also a lot of restaurants just a short walk from the hotel. Also just a short walk from the complex you can get the water taxi into Dubrovnik for a day or Cavtat and its 15.00 euro per person for the return journey. We did not eat at the restaurant in the hotel so cannot comment on the food. I would not hesitate to return to this hotel again! :)
