Hotel Astarea I und II

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Hotel Astarea. The hotel was clean and well maintained, with comfortable rooms and helpful staff who made us feel welcome throughout our visit. The location is excellent, right by the sea with beautiful views across the bay. The indoor pool was a real highlight—spacious, relaxing and perfect for unwinding. Overall, a great choice for anyone visiting the Dubrovnik area.

We had a fantastic holiday at Hotel Astarea and were delighted to return for a second year. We stayed for 9 days and were consistently impressed by the friendly and helpful staff, especially Marijana in the restaurant, who went out of her way each evening to show me the gluten-free options available as a coeliac. The hotel also provides gluten-free bread on request, which was greatly appreciated. Anja was also brilliant at making cocktails. We stayed in the annex and loved our simple, comfortable room with a beautiful sea view. The food was generally good, although the dinner options became a little repetitive, and some meat dishes were occasionally quite dry. There is pool and table tennis as well as a games room with a whole host of games including Mario kart, Minecraft and call of duty which was great fun after dinner. We had a (mostly) very enjoyable stay and would return again. One thing to note is that no complimentary water is provided with dinner, this was a shame but we used reusable water bottles to avoid extra drinks costs. Also check in is at 2 so keep this in mind for flights. During our stay, there were often large groups of local children and teenagers running around the pool - seemingly allowed in by hotel staff (not once were they told to leave). During one visit to the spa there were at least six local teenage boys who were jumping into the pool and shouting loudly. However, the rest of the time at the spa was lovely and relaxing the staff are very helpful. Overall my partner and I would return, it is a great hotel.

Just spent 7 nights at this hotel with my husband and, for a 4 star hotel, we were very pleasantly surprised. The rooms were very clean and modern (my only complaint with the room was that our drinking glasses never got replaced the whole time we were there). Breakfast was good with plenty to choose from, the only things I felt were missing was the option of yoghurt. Also they didn’t have orange juice everyday (it was rotated with pineapple juice). The hotel does share the swimming pool with the 3 star hotel next door (which I wasn’t aware of before arrival) but this wasn’t a problem as it’s only a very short walk and just felt like we were on a big complex. There were plenty of sunbeds available until around 10am but I can imagine this isn’t the case in the height of the season! The beach and sea are very clean, sunbeds on the beach are an additional charge but this wasn’t a problem for us because it’s so close to the pool we just walked across. The hotel restaurants were very good, the staff were all very friendly and attentive. The service was mostly pretty quick. I would definitely recommend the Bottega restaurant which I don’t think was part of the hotel but it was some of the best food we had in Croatia. On the whole I would recommend this hotel for the great location, cleanliness and a very relaxing, chilled vibe. Croatia - we will be back!

Amazing location but some disappointing aspects. Room wasn't ready when we arrived so we went for lunch at the Bistro Oleander beach bar, food is OK, service can be slow. Checked in a 2pm, we were in the annexe and were directed up a steep hill up from reception then over to the right 100 yards. When arrived we discovered 604 was 4 flights, 2 floors of stairs down. A lovely chap from Housekeeping, Ron, helped us with our bags and told us there is a side door we can use in the future which only involved one small set of stairs to get back to the main hotel, no idea why reception didn't tell us that. I checked on the Jet2 website as I don't recall seeing that it mentioned stairs only to find Jet2 put a warning on their Superior Seaview Annexe rooms but not on the standard annexe ones so it didn't come up when I booked! Room - view from our room was amazing, such a beautiful place. Room is basic, clean, not much room to store anything but OK. Safety deposit box was free. Bathroom is compact but shower pressure was really good. Air con was on the first few days then seemed to go off, centrally controlled. Pool is lovely, we got beds with a sea view but it has no atmosphere or any background music playing. Unfortunately there is no pool bar for drinks or snacks. Breakfast was OK, usual continental choice and great view if you sit outside. Overall Hotel was OK but few aspects that let it down. Wouldn't stay there again but would go back to Croatia, so beautiful.

Good points , location ,pool ,clean rooms .Bad points room small ours had an interconnecting door to next door used prob for families so you could hear everything they said ,and generally poor soundproof all night doors banging ,furniture moving , we stayed Bed and Breakfast hot food was cold every single morning fried eggs stone cold ,bacon awful greasy and fatty and cold ,scrambled eggs stone cold so ended up having boiled egg ,cheese and ham every day ,this is the most annoying as lots of reviews going back months saying this so you think the Manager would think thats easy to sort out but no ??? ,,was no pool bar next to pool you had to walk down to beach bar which was a pain i walked down a couple of times but because the bar was busy waited 5 mins behind 4 others with no service so ended up walking out ...
