Impressive reception area and hotel areas, if a little conference like. Pools: indoor pool was nice and refreshing and had good access from the outside sun veranda. Outside pool was a little disappointing; tiles broken off, tricky access, green algae around the water mark area. That said, the water appeared fairly clean. Lots of natural shade around the pool...if that's what you want but it was difficult to get a spot in the sun as the beds were taken really early in the morning. Sunloungers are good quality but the most uncomfortable I have ever lay upon; they would be fine if a cushioned pad had been provided...ah, that's right, down on the north beach area you can have a pad on your bed for an extra €25pp! (A little rude for a 5 star). Pool bar: 50% of the staff are excellent, very attentive and know what they are doing, the other 50% maybe new and in training but seem always to be more of a hindrance than a help; following a small spillage at the sunloungers, I asked the first employee (towel/pool boy) for assistance, I was directed to the bar where I asked for paper towels to clean the area myself. However, the bar manager called upon the towel/pool boy to help, the pool boys then stood around discussing who's role it was. By the time someone else arrived with a mop, the small spillage had spread to a much wider area!! No initiative displayed by anyone! Bedroom: Not enough storage or hangers. Bed was comfortable. Room prep was haphazard; we started off with two bathrobes but after using one the cleaner took it away and never replaced it. We found a used, dirty knife in our utensils area from the previous occupants that only got removed after we put it on show in the bathroom. Drinking glasses, were removed and never replaced, coffee cups were replenished but dirty ones were not removed. This may sound petty but, again, not what I expect from a 5 star hotel. Otherwise, the room was good, not great but good. Bathroom was nice and always had hot water. Corridors and carpets were cleaned regularly with fragrances being pumped through all of the time. Food: Breakfast was good and plentiful with hot and cold options available and the staff were always pleasant and happy to help. Food at the pool bar was good with a lovely balcony eating area. Spinnaker restaurant was lovely with a fantastic setting right on the waters edge overlooking the picturesque town. Lots and lots and lots of steps although they do provide a shuttle service which, we utilised once preferring to capitalise on the opportunity for exercise! Walk into the town took a few minutes and the walk around the headland provided wonderful views and sunsets. Would we return to the same hotel in the future? Maybe.

Great hotel and location for us ( not the best if have mobility issues mind as quite a few steps to get to areas. Buggy service is available but not always consistent so don’t rely on it. ) Hotel spotless. Room just been updated we think as was very modern, clean and spacious. Couldn’t fault the view over the ocean. Many nooks and cranny’s to the hotel and various ways to o get to beaches and harbour front. ( even a nudist are that way inclined) Plenty of choice at breakfast. Plenty of sun beds at all locations and deckchairs on the rock face . We loved the ones down the harbour front. ( free ones to the left ). No noisy or inconsistent people. Given the size of the hotel this is hard to get. Staff always spoke. No need to bring beach towels. They are readily available at all areas of the hotel. No charge or towel police. Just rely on people’s honesty. Nice little touch as well when the leave chocolates in your room every night. No need to pay for late check out. Lockers and facilities readily available near the indoor pool. Would definitely recommend to anyone interested or worried about staying here.

Positives: A very warm welcome from staff in reception and also staff in the piano bar on our arrival. Excellent service from waiting staff in the main restaurant. A very special thank you to Char & Micheal you were extremely professional, polite and always had a warm welcome. You are a credit to the restaurant. Excellent teamwork. Great view from room 719. Our room was cleaned daily to a good standard. The Steak House as always delivers great food & ambiance. (Thankyou Robert) Although we had issues with the buggy service, (No fault of the hotel) this was down to Cavtat council suddenly prohibiting the hotel using their land. I am sure the hotel will remedy this by the time of our next visit to this lovely hotel. We love the location of this hotel for the sea views from our balcony. Negatives: Buggy service to beach promenade had changed and no longer takes you directly there. I have a disability and I was unable to do steps, the buggy on my third day dropped me off at the top of Spinnaker Restaurant and I had steps to negotiate with the aid of my husband. We were not made aware that a car could be provided to transport me down from the hotel into town. We were made aware of this only when we complained to Marijo one of the managers. We have been visiting this hotel for 8yrs and for the first time I found the food in the main restaurant was not to the high standard from previous years, food sections had been cut back with fewer choices. (No grilled tomato for breakfast) My review in September 2024 mentioned how impressed I was with the variety and standard of food. I was very disappointed this year. We also had to phone reception due to the lack of coffee cups,coffee,tea and milk being replenished in our room.

Have just come back from a lovely 5 night stay at Hotel Croatia. We were sceptical after seeing a few negative reviews and also about the huge size of the hotel but none of our worries were realised and we had the best time! Rooms and communal areas are spotless and staff were always friendly. Bed was comfy, daily housekeeping was always to a high standard and they leave chocolates in your room in the evening! The hotel is extremely well located, just 15 minutes from the airport and SO close to beautiful Cavtat. Noticed comments about the difficult walk down to Cavtat which does include a lot of steps but this wasn’t an issue for us (couple in our late 20s). Breakfast spread is brilliant, dinner sometimes missed the spot but for a buffet style dinner it was actually pretty good with lots of choice. We didn’t have any issues with the sunbeds round the pool and easily found a spot in the early afternoon, but again this wouldn’t have been an issue for us as the beach areas in Cavtat are beautiful. Would definitely recommend this hotel, and we are seriously considering booking again for next year and bringing our family!

Just arrived back after a week staying at Hotel Croatia. Been going there every year for the last 8 years and we were always very happy. This year (not the fault of the hotel), buggys were no longer allowed to ferry guests down to the beach but had to drop them off further up the cliff which ment that not only was it a twice as long walk into Cavtat, but the drop off point ment that there were several wooden steps one had to be navigated before getting to the beach area. Not good for those with disabilities like my wife who has problems walking with a recovering broken ankle. It seems that Cavtat Council in their wisdom after all these years had suddenly (within the last month) prohibited the hotel from going as far as the beach promenade which left the hotel floundering how to resolve the situation which they did by organising cars free of charge for those with disabilities. The hotel hopes to find a better solution by next year. We have noted also negative comments regarding staff. When speaking to Marijo and Luka the two Managers about the situation with the buggys and staffing, they told us that earlier in the year they had sacked a firm that had supplied staff for cleaning and other duties as they had not performed to the hotel's standards. We found that all staff were friendly and obliging and would especially thank Michael and Char who served us in the dinning area for their efficient service and friendly personalities. It was also good to see that the Steak House still maintained its exceptional standards with Robert the Manager. Negative criticisms are that the reception on the TV was very poor and had substantial interference making it hard to watch. We did not bother mentioning this to Management. The food in the restaurant was not up to its normal standard when we first arrived but improved. The other criticism is that internet is only available in public areas. Despite things not being perfect this year, we are booking again for the same time next year (our ninth) as we are certain that Majijo and Luka will have the buggy problem sorted by then.
