Hotel Croatia

Beautiful hotel set in an amazing location. Truly one of the most stunning places I’ve stayed, perfect for those looking for a relaxing quiet stay. There were many positives to this hotel such as the friendly staff and attentive service at breakfast. The hotel was always clean and smelt amazing! The hotel had many balcony’s you could step out onto to enjoy the view, we just wish there were some seats to relax on, would make these areas feel more inviting and make good use of the space. Lovely gardens around the hotel, we actually quite enjoyed the many steps surrounding. It was great to see the archeological remains that had been discovered too. As much as we enjoyed, it definitely is not a 5 star hotel. Most of the issues were within our room and with the bar. Tea and coffee station not replenished during our 7 night stay. The mini bar had bottles with mould on it. Bed was cleaned and fresh towels daily however, we ended up having one of our pillows go missing halfway during our stay? Our dressing gowns were also taken and then never replaced. No ventilation in the bathroom so it gets very steamy and very basic toiletries - no cotton swabs/ vanity kits etc. We stayed in one of their ‘New classic double rooms’ which was clear it was new because there were many markings on the walls that had not been rubbed off - felt unfinished. As for the bars, possibly one of the worst I’ve experienced unfortunately. Very expensive and poor quality. It would be great to see some proper bar staff with real mixologist skills. We ordered a few drinks from their pool bar and were very disappointed each time, one day we ordered a ‘fresh lemonade’ from the pool bar….it was a lemon and tap water whizzed up and served over ice for €6. Some serious attention needs to go into making those bars the best especially for the price the guests are made to pay and for a 5 star hotel. Breakfast was really great, we loved our morning coffee and felt the service was very attentive. A few things to add to make it 5 star, perhaps some more condiments such as nut butters/ marmite. There were croissants and danishes but for some reason after 9am they never replaced the danishes (which were the best thing!) I read a few reviews prior to arriving that the dinner served at the buffet restaurant was poor. We decided to try it out one night and actually quite enjoyed it! Great variety of food, all seasoned nicely. Just some attention needed on the sweets as they didn’t taste of much. Great value for money. Overall a truly lovely hotel, just a couple of bits to improve to really make this a 5 star hotel.

Hotel Croatia is by far the nicest hotel i have ever stayed in , it was unbelievable, room was gorgeous with a sea view balcony, housekeepers gave sweets every evening saying sweet dreams, every little detail was amazing, I couldn't recommend this hotel enough , it was my birthday during our stay , never mentioned it , I came back to my room with a birthday cake with my name on it saying happy birthday and a candle, it honestly made my day and made me smile , reception are very welcoming and helpful and the steakhouse restaurant served the nicest steak ive ever had , had it three days in a row, the location couldn't be any better, amazing little hike along the sea from the hotel into Cavtat, best hotel ive ever stayed in

This is definitely NOT a 5 star hotel. The hotel itself looks nice and has plenty of open spaces but the service is terrible. Cons Arrived on a late flight and booked in. We asked if we could get a drink and was told that we would have to use the mini bar in our room We were not offered concierge and took the lift to the 8th floor and then had to drag our cases through lengthy corridors and up a flight of stairs. One of the lifts was constantly out of service. The so called tea & coffee tray only had one cup and was seldom restocked so we had to ask constantly for bits. Milk was never left and surprisingly no spoons. Cleaning staff just opened the door and walked in without knocking which is really uncomfortable if you are in the middle of getting dressed!! When the room was cleaned, which wasn’t every day, it was just a case of throwing the duvet over the bed and leaving my nightdress screwed up on the floor. Although towels and toilet rolls were replaced. Had to take the tissue box out of the container to encourage a replacement. We read the bad reviews about the evening meal before coming and thought it may be an exaggeration (take note) so we opted for half board and wish we hadn’t. The food is terrible in the evening and ended up eating in town most nights. The drinks are not included in the evening, which we did expect but they don’t even put a jug of water on the table. I’m sure this is to encourage guests to buy drinks to boost takings. The breakfast was ok but be warned, they cook raw chicken on the omelette grill beside the eggs and use the same utensils to cook both, lots of cross contamination going on. The same on another station, cooking meat and fried eggs. Pros The location is great for excursions and the little town on the bay is beautiful There is a golf cart that drops you at the bottom of the hill to save you having to walk the countless steps Would I stay again? No Definitely NOT 5 Star Check out the apartments for rent around the bay. This is what we will do next time

I would say this hotel is more a 4 star rather than 5 star. The staff are really nice and helpful but certain things let this hotel down. Lifts- not enough and can be a long wait WiFi - intermittent, often drops out and you have to reconnect Beds, we stayed in a twin, both beds were very hard and uncomfortable. You also shouldn’t have to fold your pillar in half to sleep. Mini bar wasn’t replenished in the 4 days we were here In room kettle with coffee and tea but no cups/mugs or milk The hotel does off great views

We enjoyed a truly memorable stay in Hotel Croatia 13-18 April. The pre-visit communications were first class as due to a flight change we had to (thankfully) extend our stay by one night. We were promised a ‘memorable and comfortable’ visit and that is exactly what we enjoyed. When walked into our room (8th floor) the view out to the sea was breathtaking. The room was extremely tastefully decorated, cleaned to perfection every day and had everything we needed for our 5 night stay. The choice of food at breakfast was superb with a vast array of cold and hot options available and nothing was too much bother for the super friendly and courteous staff. The hotel facilities are second to none - indoor and outdoor pools, a gym, spa, hair salon, several bars - all which enhanced the comfort of our stay. Each day we enjoyed a beautiful walk around the coast and we also enjoyed a few meals along Cavtat promenade, where sunsets are nothing short of spectacular. Finally, the staff! Each and every person we dealt with was so polite and friendly with a genuine desire to make your stay as enjoyable as possible. We had a late flight to Bergamo on our last day and a big shout out to the tall man at reception (plays basketball) for arranging for us to have a room that day until 6pm as that made a huge difference to the last day of our enjoyable stay. Big thanks also to the lady at the pool bar who provided excellent service, even joking with me when saw me approaching - large beer for you? Maybe I visited it too often 😂 I, without hesitation, highly recommend this hotel and I am sure we will return. Thanks to all. Paul & Sharon
