Hotel Croatia

We've been coming here for the last 4 years, the rooms now have been refurbished, but if you book a sea view deluxe room you essentially get down graded from last year, we were told you need to book a duluxe plus, we didn't know this as its not advertised on the hotel website or BA when you book, we just assumed we would get the same room on the same ish floor, if you want a decent sea view you really want to be above or on floor 5, which is the reception floor, we asked about this when we arrived as it seemed we were down on floor 3 i think, they explained this at reception where the rooms have now been re-categorised, i wasn't particularly happy about this given how expensive the hotel is, they did though after one night move us. This was also the first year when we've been to the pool on several occasions and not been able to get a towel as they had run out, if you've been here in June those sunbeds get roasting hot, we again asked reception about this but nothing happened, a few towels arrived and as usual on holidays, people grab as many as they can when a few arrived, in the end we just left and went for a walk, seemed the pool guys and the staff didn't really know or care what was going on, but the main reason I will never go back to this hotel was this, we were outside the piano bar, I was on a call for work, some peanuts and not really paying attention, just grabbed some peanuts and bit into what i thought was a rock hard nut, when i spat it out it was actually a lump of broken glass, my wife then looking in the thing the peanuts were served in and there were shards of broken glass, as if something had smashed near the peanuts and landed in the bowl, she obviously took this to the bar staff who seemed shocked, but didn't seem to really care, that was it for me, we also told reception, who did their best 'oh no, really', and that was it, a few days later we left and after 4 really good stays, we won't be back, seems the price is getting higher and the quality is getting lower. Shame really, but i'm sure there are other great places to stay in Cavtat, we still love the area, but i would have expected more from a hotel like that, imagine if I had a small child and they ate a piece of glass........that shouldn't be happening in any hotel.

We have just finished our stay at Hotel Croatia. It's a beautiful hotel in beautiful surroundings. Our room was a superior sea view on floor 3. The furnishings and finish were superb. The view would have been better if not for the trees in front of our room or having to look onto the beach bar toilets. But we liked being well out of the way so not all bad. The rooms are well sound proofed. We didn't hear anyone else most of the time. Air con was spot on. Room servicing spot on. Enjoyed the evening chocolates. Restaurants and staff in the restaurants are fabulous. Spinaker, steakhouse and poolside cafe bar were lovely, very good service, excellent food. Buffet restaurant is OK. Only ate there one evening. It was average. Breakfast is OK, lots of choice but I got a bit bored by day 5. Some variety would be good. But the bed blocking and towel hoarders just spoil it. We were usually able to find 2 beds down by the beach but never 4 for all of us so we just shared or did different things. On our first day, we couldn't get a towel. People had 2/3 towels each. You can tell the hotel are trying their best. Pool towels were more available as the week went on and allocating towels per room no. More beds and deck chairs appeared too, so they are doing their best, but it's people reserving and then leaving them empty for hours on end that is frustrating. But, once you are settled and have a bed or chair you will have a lovely day at the Cavtat seaside/pool side/ indoor pool and be well looked after by the staff. Thankyou for an enjoyable stay.

We have spent the last week in the hotel, spending a lot of time by the pool. We found the staff to be extremely helpful and positive, especially Kenneth who always made sure we had everything we needed, with a smile on his face.

We stayed for 7 nights in Hotel Cavtat, only home. I couldn't recommend this hotel enough!! Location, cleanliness, food everything. The breakfast had a fantastic selection and really tasty. The Tiha bar food was absolutely DIVINE - ceaser sald was the best we've ever tasted. Our room was beautiful, 6th floor and we had the most perfect view of the marina. It was idillic. (Deluxe dbl with full sea view) The location is so perfect, close to all restaurants. If you want a dip just cross the road... thank you Hotel Cavtat for the perfect break away. Conor and Kelly

Let’s start with Location - at the top of a steep hill, there is buggies though that take you up and down Atmosphere- probably the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed at for atmosphere, there’s none. The staff are terrible, they don’t even smile , bar staff are on another level though, they actually look at you as if your annoying them asking for a drink, There was a young girl waitress at the pool restaurant who was amazing, she deserves a wage rise so so nice , only worker in the hotel that actually smiled and was pleasant Rooms were average, we had to try 3 separate rooms before we actually got a suitable room. 1st one was smelling of sewage and the 2nd room also Think it’s very overpriced- 4 euro for a small bottle of water!! Would I stay here again definitely not but Cavtat is beautiful
