Hotel Komodor

Stayed at the Komodor for 3 nights. It’s quite a charming hotel but certainly dated. It looks like I imagine it might have in its communist days. Great location for the pebble beach just across the road and wonderful views too. A regular number 4 bus leaves from just around the corner and takes you up to the Old Town in about 20 minutes. The breakfast is fine, with lots of choice available but the carpets, certainly in the annex, are pretty badly stained and could do with a good clean. One issue I had was with customer service. We ran out of milk sachets in our room and requested some for the evening (so we could have coffee when we got back from site seeing) and were told we’d have to wait until the morning for them to arrive. Next evening still no milk sachets. Oh, well.

Comfortable, clean hotel within easy transportation and walking distance to swimming, restaurants and convenience stores. Hotel accommodations also offer good on-site informal dining. Good value for a city location and jump off excursions to other islands/ countries. Bartender Zoran rocks and always wears a smile; aims to please! Building is a little outdated, but very clean.

This hotel is totally outdated and offers absolutely no amenities. It was moderately clean if you can overlook years of stains on the carpeting and curtains. We did our best to stay out of the room during our stay as much as possible. The pool area was very small and sad with cheap plastic chairs.

First stumbling block was room allocation, we were under the impression we were getting a balcony room……. There are no balconies in the annex Pool bar ………. There is no pool bar you have to walk down the street to the reception bar get your drinks and walk back up again, the sun beds are well past their sell by date they all had splits in them until half way through the week and a few complaints to reception a couple of new ones appeared same with umbrellas 4 rough and broken umbrellas, we ended up going and buying one then a few more cheap ones appeared. Staff …….. please they had no time for any guests, only person who took the time to be welcoming and helpful was Zoran one of the barmen. Cleanliness ……… dubious, clothing from the previous occupants on the floor, paper behind the curtain from the day we entered until the day we left, on the plus side there were clean towels every day And this would probably be the part most people would dislike - you have to vacate your room at 11:00 this is not an issue, if you have a late flight and you ask for the use of a courtesy room to freshen up, haha got you, you will be told to use the shower by the pool and change in the toilets, (I’d love to have seen their faces if I’d stood in the pool shower with my bottle of shower gel and my dangly bits all on display) Would I return to Dubrovnik - most definitely it’s a beautiful place Would I return to the same area - most definitely, the views on sunset beach are spectacular and it’s close to very much everything Would I return to the hotel Komodor - not on your life, the staff need a lot more training in guest wellbeing and hospitality. I would have spent a lot more money in the hotel if I had been made to feel welcome but sadly the only one that made us feel welcome was Zoran

Very good experience overall. Good value for the money spent. The staff is very nice, especially Zoran the waiter. He is very nice to talk to. The location couldn’t be better - very close to the beach and a myriad of restaurants, plus the bus stop going to Dubrovnik old town is right next to the building.
