Hotel Splendid

Lovely location although building noise in location during our stay. Staff very friendly. Could hear the shower and toilet in other rooms when in use. First evening meal in restaurant on arrival and very disappointed. Food hardly warm and we found the same at breakfast although a good choice we would have expected bake beans, eggs, scrambled eggs to be hot but like evening meal cold. Plenty of places within walking distance for good food. Bus at the top of the stairs offered a reliable service. Shower was a bath shower and as the bath was narrow you had to push shower curtain away constantly. Mirror steamed up as no decent extractor system. Cleaning of the rooms varied. Some days better than others and my dirty cups left for me to clean.

Hotel ‘not so’ Splendid. This hotel has great potential but is tired and worn. Looks like it hasn’t been updated since it was built in the 1960’s. Worn carpet and floors, stained and dirty area rugs, thin and rough towels, tattered awnings, worn furnishings. Our double room was small and the bathroom tiny with very limited space to set toiletries. I would have given it a lesser score but the view of the sea from our room was spectacular. The front desk staff was hit and miss. Some friendly but most seemed like they didn’t want to be there. With a few improvements this hotel has potential to live up to its name.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Hotel Splendid. Its location is perfect, away from the hustle and bustle of the old town and right on a gorgeous stretch of water with easy access to swimming spots. It’s also incredibly easy to catch the bus into the old town. The rooms are clean, the staff helpful and a good breakfast is provided in the morning. Would definitely recommend to others

Fantastic views across the bay and convenient location if you don't mind a hill, as the 15 min walk to the bars and restaurants is quite steep. The hotel is quite dated but the bed was so comfortable, pillows were great and the shower good. attention to detail could be better as coffee and the milk wasn't always replenished daily. The first night we were refused a table at the terrace bar/ restaurant as we only wanted drinks, very short sighted as we spent over 80 euros on drinks and probably would have chosen to stay and eat if we had been seated, Some of the staff especially at the beach bar were bordering on rude and off hand, again drinks and food isn't cheap, but you felt like you were doing them a favour by going there. The sunbeds and umbrellas were 30 euros a day for 2 beds and an umbrella, which i think it so expensive, and when you ask for one and pay they don't explain that you have to wait for someone from the hotel to get them for you. !!!! and you are left wating for up to 10 mins without any explanation from the staff at the beach bar as to what happens after you pay. The beach although clean is mobbed by local kids and teenagers diving bombing and jumping into the sea constantly. If you want a quiet beach, this isn't it......

Our family arrived at the hotel at 11 AM today and waited till 2 PM for my room to be ready. While I understand that checkin time is 3 PM, my expectation is that when the hotel takes so long for room to be made ready it really should be. The room had no cooling and both the ACs were faulty. For next 3 hours, the hotel kept doing maintenance of ACs in my room disturbing my privacy. I was told there is no other room available to move me into and I have to manage the night in the same room. I'm hoping I'm shifted to another room tomorrow. The hotel charges so highly per night and this is an absolutely pathetic experience. The weather is hot, I've travelled in from India and accommodated in a room with no functional AC.
