Very good, amazing food great chef

At check-in, the Rixos staff provided a wonderful first impression. Very friendly and welcoming. The hotel lobby and common areas were clean and well maintained with beautiful views of the Adriatic. However, the experience went slightly downhill as we went to our room. The common hallway had an unpleasant smell (like old food / stagnant water) to us every day. Our room was a garden / sea view but was really a view of the round concrete roof over the pool entrance with some roof grass and a hint of blue sea. We had booked via Amex which provides room upgrades upon availability of which apparently there were none. Not Rixos fault but others should be aware when booking. The room itself was large by European standards and clean but ongoing the housekeeping was spotty. We had a pod coffee machine but no coffee pods except for the last day of our 4 night stay. The towels were taken (even when hung up for reuse) and not fully replenished. We started with 2 bath towels, 2 hand towels, and two washcloths, and ended with 1 hand towel and 1 bath towel on the last day. Similar experience with the toilet paper. The room had a shower over a very deep slippery tub which had we been height or mobility challenged would have been problematic. The toilet roll holder while clever having a roll on each side was loose so it was a teeter totter event to keep both rolls balanced when using. Food and drinks were expensive as expected and in line with the prices in the Old Town. Food itself was tasty and good quality. Breakfast had a lot of variety and was one of the most efficient we have seen in terms of service and table availability. We did not have an issue finding pool loungers but we were at the end of the season. Location was about a 20 minute scenic walk down hill to Old Town and the walk back is uphill but not too overwhelming for the mildly fit. All in all we would stay here again but with different expectations of more of a 4 star resort experience than a five.

This hotel is pretty great. The views over the water are awesome. The people are so nice. Swimming is perfect. The breakfast has so many choices and is so good. I loved it.

Fantastic Teppanyaki experience! The food was delicious and Chef Pratap was amazing — entertaining, friendly and incredibly talented. He made the whole night so much fun. Highly recommend!
