Hotel Excelsior - Liburnia

Super nice area around the hotel. Rooms are spacious, clean, comfortable with a great view. Breakfast and dinner has everything you need. Amazing spa facilities and gym. Helpful staff, friendly animators, expecially Kristian.

We went with the Just You Group. Room was absolutely fine apart from very stained carpets . I had a view over the road but I didn't mind this as it had the evening sun. Bathroom was good, shower worked well. We did have a fire alarm go off twice one night which was scary at 3 am but never heard why. Private beach area not great very small and over crowded, we walked a little to the left and it was a lot nicer. Steps into sea are very slippery with seaweed. Sea is beautiful and clear just the right temp for cooling off. Breakfasts were excellent great coffee , eggs . fruit etc etc. Evening meals were disappointing . Staff were lovely in the restaurant and around the hotel. BUT Robert the barman in reception spoilt our evenings , he was extremely rude to most of our group and we nicknamed him Mr Grumpy. What a shame as most places you go abroad you have a laugh and some banter with the barman this definitely needs to be addressed. All reception staff were helpful and arranged a boat trip for some of our group. Yes it needs upgrading but we enjoyed it, another bonus was free safe.

The reception staff and the restaurant team were exceptionally friendly, helpful, and professional, which greatly contributed to our pleasant stay. Unfortunately, several issues negatively affected our overall experience. There were not enough sun loungers around the pool for a hotel of this size, and we found it unacceptable that a member of the pool staff removed our towels after we had been away for only 30 minutes, even though guests may naturally be swimming in the pool or the sea, or having a drink at the restaurant. The staff member was rude and patronizing. In addition, the sun loungers are moved around very noisily from 6:30 a.m., waking up guests. Finally, the live entertainment held every evening from 9:00 p.m. creates a significant amount of noise, making it difficult to relax and enjoy the beautiful sea view from the balcony.

Wonderful hotel. Clean Friendly Food excellent We had a wonderful time. Took us 1 hr 20 mins to get there. Booked in . Room was big,with seaview. Breakfast and dinner, so much to choose from. Cocktails and ice cream a plenty. And not over priced. Pool was lovely. Throughly enjoyed it. Totally recommend

Very tired hotel in need of serious upgrade. Food 3/10 – breakfast was pretty basis and dinner was even worse, that being said most of the non-brits seemed to find the food okay. Drinks – 2/10 – lack of choice and overpriced. Cleanliness – 3/10 - whilst my room was made up every day it was not cleaned every day. First day, took my shoes off and thank goodness I was wearing socks. They picked up most of the carpet and were covered in carpet fluff. One day, towels were supposedly replaced but were dirty and hand soap container empty from day one, even though I asked everyday for it to be filled. Spa – 6/10 – They worked well with what they had Staff – 8.5/10 – I would say they were understaffed. With the exception of the ONE barman, all were very friendly and went out of their way to help you even though, especially by the pool they were rushed off their feet. Safety – 1/10 – we had a fire alarm go off during our stay. It was havoc, nobody knew what to do, it was a 5 in the morning and the poor fella on reception was in a panic. Not going to hold that against him more the hotel as I went down the fire escape and on one floor there was a wooden plank laying on the stairs and a chair. Fire escape should always be clear. Signage also disappeared at around ground floor. I carried on down and then had to go back up and out a rusty chained door which lead me to an open courtyard with no idea where to go next.
