I stayed at Papagayo from June 5–9 with a group of six friends. Check-in was seamless, and thankfully, the concierge escorted us to our room. Since I was the one who selected the hotel, I made it a point to check out everyone’s rooms, and overall, they were very nice. The only thing I didn’t completely love was navigating the cobblestone walkways with a suitcase and while wearing heels, but we made it work. Cleanliness: 7/10 Cleanliness was one area where there was definitely room for improvement. Upon closer inspection, housekeeping could have done a more thorough job before our arrival. There were greasy fingerprints on the cabinets, mirrors, and other surfaces that should have been wiped down. The couches also had very noticeable stains—so noticeable that I chose not to sit on them during my stay. The ironing board could also benefit from routine inspection and cleaning when needed. Comfort: 9/10 The comfort level was excellent. The bed and pillows were extremely comfortable, and I slept very well throughout the trip. A few things worth noting: * Face towels are not automatically provided; you’ll need to request them from the front desk. * The air conditioning is connected to the doors and windows. If a patio door or window is left cracked open, the AC will shut off. Unfortunately, I learned this the hard way and ended up having one very uncomfortable night. * If you’re visiting from the United States, you’ll need an adapter for your phone and electronics. The front desk has them available with a $25 deposit charged to your room. * Some rooms have robes, while others do not. * They only have waterfall shower heads. Food & Drinks: 3/10 for food, 10/10 for drinks The drinks were fantastic and honestly saved this category for me. We ate breakfast at the hotel once, and unfortunately, it was one of the worst meals we had during our entire trip. The fruit was the only thing I enjoyed. Equally disappointing was the service, which was the only negative customer service experience we encountered during our stay. To make matters worse, there were birds constantly trying to invade the dining area while we were eating. After that experience, we chose to eat in town for the remainder of the trip. Pool, Beach & Service 10/10 The beachfront saltwater infinity pool area was beautiful, and the customer service there was excellent. One suggestion would be to better distinguish between resort guests and day-pass visitors. We were almost charged for something that should have been included with our stay because there wasn’t a clear way to identify who was staying on property. Amenities 7/10 The market was great for grabbing snacks, water, and other essentials to keep in the room. I also enjoyed the casino, although I was disappointed that the bar closed fairly early, leaving us unable to get drinks later in the evening. There was a beach club party on Saturday night that featured house and techno music. It was a fun atmosphere, but I was surprised it shut down at midnight, especially since most other nightlife venues in the area stayed open until 2:00–4:00 a.m. Parking 10/10 We rented cars during our stay, and parking was generally easy. The lot was full one evening, forcing us to park on the street, but to be fair, we didn’t return until around 4:00 a.m. Cost 9/10 I paid approximately $850 USD p/p for 4 days. Not too bad if you ask me. 🤷🏾♀️ Overall 7/10 Overall, I enjoyed my stay at Papagayo. While there are definitely some areas that could be improved—particularly housekeeping and the hotel breakfast—the comfortable accommodations, beautiful pool area, convenient amenities, and generally excellent customer service made for an enjoyable stay.
My husband and I stayed in Papagayo to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary. The location is great; the pool and beach are perfect. It's quiet and offers a very relaxing atmosphere. There is a supermarket, bars, rental cars, and restaurants nearby. The rooms are big, and the balcony is very spacious, where you can appreciate the sunset. Special thanks to Daja, a member of the reception staff, who is so kind and very concerned about our well-being during the stay.
We had a wonderful stay at Papagayo Beach Hotel! The staff were friendly and made us feel welcome throughout our stay. A special thank you to the lovely lady who handed out the beach towels every day—she always greeted us with a smile, had a kind word to say, and truly made us feel at home. The reception staff were also very helpful, friendly, and always willing to think along with us when we had a question or request. Our room was luxurious, offered a beautiful sea view, and was cleaned to perfection every single day. Everything was spotless, which made our stay even more enjoyable. We would definitely recommend Papagayo Beach Hotel and would love to return in the future!
Don’t go to this hotel. The staff don’t want to work for what you paid. The manager doesn’t listen. I wish the owners knew what is going on here with the lack of assistance and attention. Rooms are nice, the hotel is nice but that’s it. Problems and inconvenients present and they don’t solve them until you have asked 4/5 times. It’s a shame. Not worth it. They don’t even know the correct opening times of the supermarket and gym. The beach club also not good, they don’t adapt.
I don’t know where to start. Papagayo Beach hotel was amazing. Shout out to Kayla, the receptionist, who was very pleasant from the time I’d arrived. My room was clean and spacious, the bed was comfortable, and the balcony was huge. The beach and the infinity pool were amazing. I wish I could have stayed here longer. However, Papagayo beach hotel will be my forever hotel when returning to Curaçao.
