Old Palace Resort

We have once again enjoyed a wonderful stay at the Old Palace Resort in Sahl Hasheesh. The beautiful location directly on the Red Sea, the lovely sandy beach, the spacious grounds and the relaxed atmosphere make this resort a very special place to unwind and enjoy a holiday. But what truly makes the difference is the people. I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to Ms. Katia Khlyzeeva, Guest Relations Manager, for her outstanding dedication, genuine warmth and exceptional professionalism. She has a remarkable ability to make guests feel welcome, valued and genuinely cared for. Every request is handled with kindness and efficiency, always with a sincere smile. Her personal attention makes all the difference. My equally sincere thanks go to Mr. Mahmoud Kemal, Manager of Bars, whose commitment, hospitality and excellent management contribute enormously to the guest experience. His team reflects his professional attitude and welcoming spirit, making every moment spent at the bars enjoyable. Both of them are wonderful ambassadors for the Old Palace Resort. They demonstrate that genuine hospitality is not simply about facilities or services – it is about people who truly care. Thank you, Katia and Mahmoud, for making our stay so memorable. I sincerely hope you will both remain part of the Old Palace family for many years to come. We are already looking forward to coming back! Well, where do we start? The hotel is still unfinished. Around the ground floor, there are lots of piles of rubble and a general building site feel. But the finished parts of the hotel are lovely. It’s spacious and well done. All of the facilities are “fine”. Just fine though. The part of Hurghada that we stayed is similar. It’s mainly unfinished hotel builds and apartments. All of which cater for Russian taste. There are a few shops on the boardwalk, but nothing to fill an evening stroll. The restaurants are all similar and vacant and there are only a small handful. The downside of having so much space, is there are lots of buildings with no purpose. This is unfortunately why we would not come back. Each meal at the hotel is strongly biased towards its Russian guests tastes. Russian culture and cuisine it would appear is very different to British. Boiled chicken, plain rice and every conceivable vegetable, pickled. For an all inclusive buffet, we were no expecting 5 stars. But some evenings, we struggled to find anything that felt remotely “fine”. Very underwhelming, and often just plain odd. Everyone expects a tip, for everything. We understood it was the culture, but you do feel pressured to tip even to say no. And there are no markers as to how much to tip. So we came across either tight and service suffered, or like rock stars which led to more tips being sought. Far from relaxing, unfortunately not enjoyable. Was Egypt beautiful, yes. Was the weather kind, yes. The people welcoming, yes but more so if we were Russian. Would we come back? Never.

My stay at the hotel was wonderful in every way. From the warm welcome and smooth, fast check-in process to the excellent cleanliness and organization of the rooms, every detail was handled with great care. The public areas were clean and well maintained throughout the day, and the beach was beautiful and very clean, adding a special touch of relaxation and enjoyment to the entire stay. Many thanks to the entire team and hospitality staff for their professionalism, friendly service, and genuine care for the guests’ comfort. I highly recommend this hotel and look forward to visiting again soon!

Thank you for another fantastic holiday. We have been to the Old Palace about 20 times now and have always had an amazing time. It is our "second home" and the staff always make us feel so special. They go the extra mile to ensure we have everything we need and are so considerate. The staff are the main reason we choose to return. We thank everyone, from Concierge, Reception, Bars, Restaurant, Pool and Housekeeping. You are a credit to the hotel and do an incredible job.
