SUNRISE Royal Makadi Resort

Immediately upon arrival, we were informed about the option to upgrade to the adjacent sister hotel, Sunrise Tucana Resort; we agreed to the change and were driven by hotel staff to the Tucana Resort reception. The process there was quick and seamless; we were briefed on the various restaurants, bars, and leisure activities available at both hotels. For breakfast, we used the main restaurant at Sunrise Royal Makadi, which offered a vast selection of dishes. For lunch, we visited the Yades beach restaurant at Tucana Resort, where we were looked after by a perfectly organized and friendly team led by the "big boss," Hesham. Special mention goes to waiters Mohamed, Alaa, and Yousef—they were consistently professional, helpful, and kind, and I am truly glad to have met them. For dinner, we took advantage of the à la carte options—Italian, Greek, and Mediterranean—and were pleasantly surprised; everything was delicious and expertly prepared. At the Tucana Resort beach, we were attended to by Mohamed, a pleasant and friendly lifeguard; the beach was quiet and clean, with a gradual entry into the sea and beautiful live coral just offshore—a fantastic spot for snorkeling. The entertainment teams at both hotels were excellent and sociable; they never pressured us into anything—if we didn't feel like doing an activity, they might just stop by for a chat. Their programs were delightful and well-planned, and the evening shows—whether on the beach or in the amphitheater—were fantastic. Overall, these two hotels impressed me so much that I would consider visiting again in the future, as I have never experienced service quite like this anywhere else.

I’ve visited this resort for the third time now, and it remains a top-notch resort. It has everything you need, plus a fantastic entertainment team that puts on great activities all day and every evening. Thanks to the entertainment team and the staff for another amazing holiday this year. I’ll definitely be back next year! ❤️

Well, where do I start? Welcome home. This is said by majority of the staff and you actually do feel like you’re home. The hotel is beautifully decorated throughout and the Reception is stunning. The hotel has seven beautiful pools. Two were heated and two had swim up bars. One pool has waterslides. There were lots of different places that you could exchange your towels round the different pools and at the beach. You get given a card to exchange for a towel. There are eight à la carte restaurants which you can visit as many times as you like. Also 11 bars to keep your glasses topped up. All the bars were very well stocked and you could get cocktails at all of them. When we arrived we were immediately taken to the sofas and brought a welcome drink while we waited to be checked in. All the Reception staff are very helpful. They can’t do enough for you. We had a good laugh with some of them. We were taken to our room on a little golf buggy which saved my sister from walking as she is disabled and struggles to walk long distances. This hotel is absolutely amazing for disabled people. The golf buggies saved my sister legs and really helped her to enjoy her holiday. We only had to ask one of the members staff to call a buggy and they came and took us wherever we wanted to go. All the buggy staff were amazing and very friendly. Waleed was lovely. He couldn’t do enough for us. Also another one of our drivers was great. I can’t remember his name. I’ll pop a picture on here of him. The room was stunning and spacious. We had a two bedroom room. We were in block 31 which was very close to the Reception and all the amenities. The beds were very comfortable and we had everything we needed. No need to bring anything with you as they provide shampoo conditioner and hand wash. They also give you little boxes with toothbrush, toothpaste, sewing kit, shower cap all sorts of bits in them. You have a kettle with all the bits you need to make a nice cupper which gets topped up daily. There is a fridge in your room which also is filled with water and a few cans of pop. This gets filled up once a week. But you can ask for extra water, et cetera. There is also a safe in your room, which is very easy to use. Our cleaner Tibte was amazing. He is such a lovely man and couldn’t do enough for us. Our room was beautifully cleaned everyday. We got lovely towel art on both our beds every day. They were amazing, especially the last day when he did a massive crocodile on our floor. It actually made me jump when I walked in. Lol. Such a talented man. We didn’t try all the à la carte restaurants, but what we did try we thoroughly enjoyed. My favourite was the Mexican restaurant and the Bedouin restaurant. We also tried the Italian, Asian and Steak restaurants. All were very good and there was lots of choice. The food standards were amazing and presented beautifully. All the restaurant staff were absolutely brilliant. Our favourite was Mohammed (mainly saw him in the snack bar by the main pool and the Bedouin restaurant) He was so lovely with us and really helped my sister as well, such a lovely man. The main restaurant Shahrzad was really good too. Lots of choice. You could have breakfast lunch and dinner there. Lots of things being made fresh, which was a nice bonus. You’ll never go hungry. Even the most fussiest of eaters will definitely find lots of things to eat throughout the resort. There were plenty of places to eat lunch if you didn’t fancy going into the main restaurant. The man cooking the pizzas was so lovely too. We just called him the pizza man he always had a smile on his face and was always happy to see you. The Beach is absolutely stunning, it sits in a little bay. There are plenty of sun loungers and umbrellas. We never had a problem finding somewhere to sit. All the loungers had a mattress on them, which we thought was great as it makes it so much more comfortable. They washed the mattresses once a week. All the loungers on the beach are made of wood, so are very sturdy. There is a very well stocked beach bar and the guys come round taking your orders or you can walk up to the bar if you choose. There are toilets next to the bar, which is very handy. We absolutely loved the red flag system. You grab a little red flag from the towel hut. Pop it up on your umbrella. And you were left alone. No sellers were allowed to come near you. There are lots of activities you can pay for such as the banana boats, parasailing etc. There is a Fish restaurant on the beach which you pay for. We didn’t try that as I do not like Fish, but apparently they have other stuff in there as well. This restaurant you have to pay for and is not part of your all inclusive. We didn’t try the nightclub in the resort. But it looked great. And heard good things about it. The entertainment staff were amazing and worked so hard. They were always smiling even at eleven at night. They were always happy to see you and have a little chat. They really did try to get everyone involved in the activities during the day and night. There was so much going on during the day for both the children and adults. We loved doing the Aqua classes in the sea in the morning. The entertainment in the evening was very good too. There were lots of acts from outside. The entertainment staff shows were great too. They really do work hard and put so much effort into everything they do. Love the party dances. There is a lovely auditorium where they put the shows on and then a little stage outside. There was always something going on. Absolutely loved the Foam party and colour party on the beach. The entertainment staff really do get involved. Some of the entertainment staff we didn’t really know, but the ones we did we absolutely loved. Ellie, Hamdy, Micheal, Lana, Kaja, Gazza to name a few. They also had different events going on during the day, which were really good. It was my friend’s husbands big birthday while we were there. I spoke to Reception about decorating his room. They decorated it beautifully, he got a cake too. I also mentioned it was his birthday when we went to one of the restaurants and they came out with a cake and singing to him which was really lovely. We did a day trip and asked for a packed lunch. The packed lunch they gave us was actually quite good. So just take note if you need a packed lunch when you’re going out on a trip just ask Reception and they are so very helpful. Once a week there is a trip to Sunrise Select Garden Beach Resort. Where they put on a show for all the Sunrise Hotels. They have street food and entertainment on the street. Then you go into a big auditorium and they put on an amazing show with lots of different acts. You still get your all-inclusive drinks at the very well stocked bar. This is all completely free. They provide the Transport too. You will have a rep with you on your coach. Absolutely brilliant evening out. Well worth going. We tried all the pools and they were all beautiful and very clean. They were well looked after. The staff were lovely at both swim at bars and were really helpful too. They had plastic sunbeds around the pools. Lots of the sunbeds had the mattresses but not all of them. They also had round the main Pool some metal sunbeds. Lots of umbrellas for shade. The bar staff will also come round and take your orders for drinks. You can also use the red flag system around the pool. Snorkelling in the sea is amazing. There are some absolutely beautiful Fish to see. For the little ones we saw Dory and Nemo. Loved seeing a puffer fish too. The highlight of my snorkelling trips was seeing the Lion Fish. Absolutely loved seeing that. You don’t have to go snorkelling to see Fish there’s always lots of silver Fish swimming around near the shore. There are cash machines in Reception where you can get money out and also exchange money. There is a guy that sits next to Reception that can arrange taxis for you. I would recommend going into Makadi Bay. It is beautiful. We went in the evening. It was so lovely to see all the boats and everything lit up. So many shops, restaurants and bars. Would I go back to this hotel? 100%. I actually have nothing negative to say about this hotel.
