CHC Marilena

The hotel itself was ok,the rooms are not as in the pictures,especialy the small old bathrooms..beds are horrible,and the food had no taste. We were very dissapointed. 5 stars gets only the stuff in the bar! Experience yourself if you want:)

We arrived at Hotel Marilena on the evening of September 26 as a group of four — two couples who had made separate reservations. We had specifically booked and paid extra for Superior Double Rooms. Upon arrival, the receptionist told us that there was a problem with the rooms because the hotel was overbooked. We were given a Family Room for one night and told to come back at 10:00 the next morning to change to our booked rooms. The Family Room was far from what we expected. It had two bedrooms with very old-fashioned furniture, ants crawling across the floor, and only one bathroom for four people. This was certainly not the standard we expected after paying for Superior Rooms. The next morning, we came to reception at 10:00 as instructed, but our rooms were still not available. We had to wait until 12:00. What was particularly disappointing was the attitude of the management. Nobody properly apologized for the inconvenience, and we were not offered any compensation, discount, complimentary service, or even a simple gesture of goodwill. The food was another major disappointment. Breakfast was acceptable, but lunch and dinner were extremely poor. The food did not taste fresh, everything seemed to be swimming in grease, and some of the meat had an unpleasant smell. Overall, the food was completely unappetizing. The evening snack bars were also closed due to weather conditions. The swimming pool water was extremely cold, and considering that this is advertised as a 4-star hotel, the distance from the beach is also quite disappointing. Honestly, I do not understand how this hotel has received such positive reviews recently. Perhaps our experience was simply very different, but based on our stay, Hotel Marilena did not come close to the 4-star standard we expected. Unfortunately, my personal rating would be **1 star out of 5**. The biggest disappointment was not only the room situation and food, but especially the lack of respect and proper communication from the hotel management towards guests.

We have stayed at CHC Marilena Hotel twice. There is a nice swimming pool with a jacuzzi and water loungers. The pool has been renovated. There is water aerobics every day and once a week there is a disco by the pool, hosted by a really nice lifeguard.The beach is very close to the hotel.There is a bus stop right next to the hotel,from where you can take a bus to Heraklion and the airport.The food is very good and varied. The desserts are absolutny delicious!You can enjoy your meals in a beautiful garden in the company of the little cats.:). We had a room on the top floor with a sea view. The staff are very friendly, and the nicest person is the lady at the reception!😊 Written by Laura,12, and her family.
