We’ve just got back from a lovely week at Elounda Beach. We had booked to be at the Elounda Palace Bay hotel which looked nice and were upgraded to a bungalow which was a very pleasant surprise! We were welcomed there (the sister hotel) with a glass of Prosecco and a buggy took us to our room, it’s quite a sprawling site so if not so mobile the buggies are useful! So the bungalow was great with a private garden and a stunning view of the sea. There was a complimentary bottle of wine waiting for us and every day we were replenished with small bottles of water in the fridge. The turn down service happened a couple of days and the beds were made every morning with fresh towels left as requested. The one and only negative was the shower. There was a bath with an attachment as the shower which was fine but could only use it if you sat in the bath as it only reached up a few feet! It would have been perfect if it extended a bit longer and could be clipped on the wall, but as shower users it was a bit awkward! The resort itself was spotlessly clean and all the staff worked incredibly hard. All very pleasant and helpful. The four restaurants on the Elounda Beach side were all really nice, I’d definitely recommend going half board as to pay separately they seemed quite expensive. I’m pescatarian and my husband only eats chicken and we never went hungry. There was always a vegetarian option too. On our first night we had the buffet at the sister hotel (palace bay) which was lovely. Several chefs cooking fish and meats freshly. Lots of salad, vegetables and desserts, all delicious! On our last night we had the buffet at the Elounda Beach thinking this would be even nicer, but it was definitely the poor relation in the buffet world! Only one vegetarian option, very dry fish and not a huge selection. They should just stick to the breakfast. Talking of which, the breakfast was delicious. Fresh fruits, yoghurt, continental bits, fresh fruit juice, the usual egg station with freshly made omelettes, fried etc. they had a great selection of breads but the usual painful toaster that you have to put your bread through several times to get it done. But definitely 5/5 for the selection. The beach area was great. You were given sun beds on arrival which were yours for your stay, so no having to race down to put your towels on! There was waiter service at the beach if you wanted a drink or lunch. Sea was stunningly clear and you could pay to use jet skis, water ski, paddle boarding but all quite expensive (minimum cost was €30 going up to several hundred for a boat ride). We did use the gym which had great cardio machines as well as weights. Also a nice shower which was welcomed (see shower comment above!). You could walk into Elounda town which was about a mile and half away. There were lots of cafes and eateries there - not that we needed to eat after the breakfast! If you’ve read this far - well done! If you’re undecided about booking Elounda Beach, I’d say go for it. I have a fussy husband who had very little to complain about and we had a very enjoyable and relaxing time. 😊🏖

There are good hotels, and there are great hotels. Elounda Beach is one of the greats. Built in 1971, it has a certain patina and character that won’t be to everyone’s taste. There’s a definite Elizabeth Taylor, Roger Moore 70s vibe about the place, which personally I love. I think this is my eighth visit. The food is consistently excellent, but what really makes the place is the staff. Many have been here for 20 years or more, and it shows. They get to know you, and the service has that rare quality of being there without being there. It’s genuine, effortless and never feels like anyone is trying too hard.

This was the latest of our visits to Elounda Beach Hotel and Villas and, as with our previous reviews, it was a 5* experience. In every respect this is a wonderful relaxing place. The accommodation is great, the whole site is a joy, and the restaurants are excellent. But above all else it is the staff who make things very special. Without exception they provide a first class service - and so many of them have been there for many years. Everything with a smile! It would be difficult to name all those who provided such good service but attention should be drawn to Johanna and Maria in Reception and Lia Prentza the Guest Loyalty Manager who not only organised our visit, but kept in touch with us during our stay. She is such a great asset to the hotel. Can't think of anywhere else we would wish to be and have already booked two visits for 2027!
