Gouves Water Park Holiday Resort

Well what a shock €15 per night tourist tax, that started the holiday off badly. This is classed as a 5* hotel by local officials & therefore charges 5* rate. No way is this 5*, 4 at best. I can only assume that because it has loads of pools with slides that's what it's based on. We stayed in a basic maisonette, which were weren't fussed about even though there were niggles, but pointed out to rep that it was injust to charge 5* fees. The rep did offer to move us but it was the principal not the fact that the room was a bad room just nowhere near 5* room. Room was in a nice location and quiet so no problem with sleeping. Cleaners came in everyday, towels changed too. The food was basic as in any AI hotel, lots of choice rarely hot and repetitive. The outside dining hall often smelt of wafting sewage, so sit the swimming pool end away from the smell. I came home with an upset stomach which has been recurring since our return on 19th September. The staff were all very nice. Surprised that there was no self service for basic beers & wines in the bar & often queues for a drink. The soft drinks were not nice either. Entertainment wasn't spectacular, the dj & the acrobats were the best. Courtesy room had loads of broken lockers, there were only 2 showers, far too small for the size of the complex, we had to queue. The location was good , beach was lovely, sea lovely, beach bed staff were very nice & helpful. Wouldn't return to this complex. Local Aquarium is worth a visit. We went by bus to Heraklion, mainly just shops nothing much else to see.

Absolutely wonderful experience! The Cretan massage was incredible — deeply relaxing and one of the best massages I’ve ever had. Allmpora the therapist was extremely professional, friendly, and skilled, and the whole atmosphere of the spa made the experience even more special. I left feeling completely relaxed and refreshed. Excellent service and a truly memorable experience. Highly recommended — definitely a 5-star experience!
