Melrose by Mage Hotels

We arrived to the hotel at midnight, and found out that our room was not ready. We were put in a suite for 1 night and told to check out the next morning. Next morning the room was still not ready. We could not unpack anything, had to wait several hours. Rude staff. Stressful. Tiny cold pool only about 1 m deep.

Excellent boutique hotel with high standards in all areas. One block in from beach and 15 minute walk to edge of Old Town. Very comfortable room and excellent breakfast Very high standards of cleaning Friendly staff especially the wonderful Nicoletta who brings energy and kindness to the breakfast room and is a great source of advice on where to go

Stayed here for two weeks at the end of July. From the beginning the staff were delightful, friendly and helpful from check-in and I checkout and every day on between. The breakfast had everything we needed and then some. The rooms were clean, air-conditioned had good beds and a modern bathroom. The pool-area was busy one week and we had to be early if we wanted to stay there instead of taking the short trip down to the beach. The second week we had no problems finding sunbeds. The pool area is clean and sheltered from the wind, and an alternative if the waves are too big one day. There’s plenty of restaurants in the area and we never struggled finding a table or a subbed on the beach, even in high season. We were not bothered by partying kids or loud nightlife due to a combo of good windows and location. We would be more than happy to stay here if we return to Rethymno. Make sure you sponsor a turtle if you decide to go.

Near to the beach, great Service, people very friendly, Top breakfast, rooms big and cleanly, only one point is not good. Pool is not deep so you can not really swim and green stains around the pool edge.

As mentioned by all other guests, Melrose hotel has it all. Wonderful stay. For us we don't like the smell of smoke when eating and at breakfast there is an open space near seating where two guests used to smoke. We had to move seats as the smoke drifted into the eating breakfast area. Apart from this we had a wonderful stay.
