Porto Bello Royal

We stayed here for 12 nights and had booked through Tui. On late arrival at the hotel, we were taken to the room by golf buggie and had been left sandwiches in the minibar which was a lovely touch. Our bedroom appeared to be one of the more dated rooms, there were no light switches next to the bed to turn the lights off and the shower over the bath felt cramped due to the shower screen having been siliconed to the bath. The aren’t any sunbed wars here around the pool, but the sun beds do get occupied on the beach, must be because the sea is so much warmer to swim in than the pools. All of the pools are salt water which didn’t bother us, and the hotel provides towels for the pool/beach, which can be changed three times a week during your stay. The food at the main restaurant was great at breakfast and a nice selections for lunch. The evening meals could be hit and miss, the Asian night is a disappointment. We ate in the à la carte restaurants, which no matter how long your stay is you can only dine in once for each. The Greek restaurant in the evening was fantastic as was lunch there too. The Italian was also nice and the burger bar the burgers were huge! The drinks at the hotel were also hit and miss sometimes the soft drinks had a strange taste to them which differed from bar to bar. The cocktail list was extensive and not small measures. The entertainment is somewhat tacking, Bruno mars tribute act was a blast, three tenors was also good. Bingo night at €10 a bingo card we felt was abit steep! The gym is lacking as the equipment is dated and some of it not working at all. Overall, we have enjoyed our time at the hotel and the beach is amazing, crystal clear water, and you can feed the fish. But some of the other amenities in the hotel let it down.

Just leaving this hotel after a 10 day stay. We have had a good time but this hotel is definitely not a 5 star hotel and does not come close to 5 star hotels we have been to in the past and the other 2 people I went with are in agreement. Almost all the staff we had dealings with have been lovely and polite however in the main resteraunt they are not always attentive. I would like to mention when we arrived and checked in the receptionist Told us to leave our luggage and go for lunch as we had 35minutes left until the resteraunt shut, and when we were seated we were greeted by a rude waiter who wasnt wearing a name badge and had a go at us for arrivinf late for lunch sayinf they were closing at half 2. He was waving his arms around and rolling his eyes at us and told us we coulsnt go in so late. The food in the main resteraunt is very hit and miss, when the food is good it's the best all inclusive food I have had, but when the choices are not great, it's poor with limited variety, although there is always pizza and salad to fall back on. The all inclusive drinks include an extensive list of cocktails which is good. The mini bar in our room has only been filled once with fizzy drinks bur never with alcohol and you are left waters every day but these don't get put in the fridge just on the side. We were later informed during our stay by a member of staff that due to the room we had we only get fizzy drinks on arrival in our mini fridge and that there is a lot of discrimination between rooms with this. We were also unaware this hotel did not do 24/7 food as most 5 star all inclusive hotels do, and the snack bars offer poor choices. They only serve ice cream nuggets, chips, burgers. hotdogs and sandwiches which are not the best. The rooms are cleaned daily but the standard of cleaning is also hit and miss. The booking of the a la cart resteraunts is good and you can book more than once. The greek a la cart at night was phenomenal and definitely the best food we had in the hotel. All the swimming pools are salt water which we knew about but a lot of reviews said you don't notice this but we did, the sea feels warmer than the pools! And there is also a lack of entertainment around the pools and around the hotel in general, there really isn't much to get involved in. As 3 gym goers the gym was nothing like in the photos and there was a lot of broken equipment that you would expect to be fixed and it wasn't so it was not as easy to use the gym facilities as we would have hoped. However, the highlight of the hotel and a credit to the hotel has been the night staff at the lobby bar and they have really made our nights. Eliza, Eni, Panagiotis and Julian always remember your drinks order from night to night and they are the lovliest bunch of people we have met. Although it is not their job to do so they have provided the evening entertainment as they always have a smile on their faces and are so happy to serve you. We had no reason to try any of the other bars at night as we had such great nights in the lobby bar- so thank you guys you are a credit to this hotel and to yourselves! The hotel is by no means 5 star but hopefully with some improvement it can get there. To mention the bar staff mentioned at the lobby bar would be the only reason we would ever return to this hotel.

Friendly staff great food atmosphere amazing

Not a 5 star hotel and I dont know how its 4.5 on tripadvisor . Not kids friendly 2 sad swings only as a playground . Kids pool was for baby's and toddlers.lots of swimming pools but they where kind of reserved for some rooms as they where around it.Lack of sun beds at swimming pool and beach , you can imagine how hard must be in the full season. Entertainment start at 9 30 wich its to late finish around 23 30 and its very loud adults only ,nothing for kids. Paid for a sea view didn't get one we stayed in the main building dont know how that was a sea view told reception about it didn't seem to care . Staff they worked hard but 0 guest experience we found only maybe 2 members of staff that actually liked what they where doing . Food was basic breakfast, lunch and dinner. Lack of meat or lack of sides. Spa - expensive - booked a deep tissue but we had to be moved to the sister hotel because they had a fire in the spa previos day , they havent informed us when we done the booking. Anyway it wasn't a deep tissue keep beeing asked it the pressure was ok non stop telling to go harder.So it wasn't relaxing at all made us more stressed than we where. No sauna no steam room Gym was very small and busy all day took us 2 days to find it . Beach and sea water amazing ! And local bus was great as they sell everything double price at the shops . So yeah not for families with small children as we didn't see any baby food or baby facilities in the dining area. Cleaning was ok during our stay but not when we arrived hair on the floor , glasses in the bathroom had toothpaste and 1 reject pillowcase. We are not going back to this one .
