Porto Bello Royal

We stayed at this hotel from 27th September to 6th October, 5 friends in all. We had previously visited the hotel in 2019. we arrived late and were advised that there would be sandwiches in the room which there weren't which we didn't mind as we were not hungry. The hotel is in a lovely location, the view of the sea other islands is stunning at night and during the day. The hotel is directly on a flight path and the planes do come into land quite low, we have seen some people complaining about this but it didn't bother us and you don't notice them after a while. We had booked double rooms with inland view and balcony or terrace, the rooms were ok but the balcony had a tree literally right outside hanging into the balcony and we couldn't see a thing. we decided to pay for an upgrade to a suite which was sorted out quickly and efficiently by the reception team for the next morning. We were very happy with our suite which was enormous with 2 bedrooms, 2 sets of patio doors, a huge balcony and a lovely view. it was nice and modern with a comfy bed and an amazing walk in shower. The hotel covers a large area and there are a lot of lovely grounds to walk around, one of our party suffers with MS but the guys in the golf buggies very kindly ferried him around during our stay. There is a huge choice of pools, it was quiet during our stay so we pretty much had a pool to ourselves outside our rooms all the time we were there. the pools were all clean, you could see the pool guys out early in the morning cleaning them every morning. they are saltwater pools but you don't notice it too much. As others have said they are cold but we found ok once you were in and welcome relief when it is hot. The beach is lovely but does get crowded very early. We saw people going down at 5:30 am to reserve beds. we also discovered that you can also have breakfast in the area which is the Greek restaurant, hardly anyone comes down which is lovely, probably due to the walk. the choice is a little more limited than the main restaurant but is lovely and peaceful away from the bustle of the main restaurant. The main restaurant is a buffet style restaurant, we found the food to be very good quality, they had a different theme every night, we loved the Asian and Mexican nights, we didn't get bored at all of the food , you have to reserve the specialty restaurants, Greek, Asian and Mexican; the Greek restaurant was very good. There is a snack bar which does burgers, hotdogs and chips, it is in the ice cream parlour, the hotdogs and burgers were not great but lovely chips for a snack and the ice cream was good too. The bars were all lovely, beach bar is a nice location but the cocktails in there were REALLY strong and for us undrinkable, we spent most of our time in the pool bar, the guys in there are great fun singing and dancing. We had our pre dinner drinks in the main bar by reception and the staff there were great too - great cocktails! We cannot comment on the entertainment as we didn't go, we either went out or sat for a drink after dinner. We had heard it wasn't great though. The staff were amazing, always happy and chatty. We booked taxis to take us into Kardamena, the hotel will book them for you and to get one back you can either go to the taxi rank or we found a very nice bar called the Crossroads, we had a few drinks there and they called a taxi for us. We had a fantastic stay and didn't experience a lot of the things others have complained about. Everyone has different opinions i guess. we will definitely be back. Just returned from the most amazing stay at the Porto Bello Royal. We had our wedding at this hotel and it was fantastic, such a lovely and amazing wedding day and stay. The hotel wedding planner (Margirita) was fantastic. She made sure all our asks for our wedding happened and went above and beyond to assist not only us but our wedding party guests with their stay at this hotel. We highly recommend this hotel for your wedding and a holiday. We loved every moment there and will return in the future. All our guests highly rated it too and all saying the same as us, we will return.
