TUI SUNEO Niriides Beach

Just returned from 11 nights at niriides with my family. Not sure where to start so will begin with the positives. Newer pool area where the 3 pools are is lovely, clean, pools are really nice, can use inflatables, loads of sun beds to choose from. Drinks from the pool bar are good, iced coffees, coke floats, slush puppy's all different flavours, good choice of ice cream flavours from there also. The new rooms around the new pools all look lovely but we didnt stay in those. So to go into the negatives, I will start with the room we stayed in, this is in the original block. Its fine, clean enough, good air con. Bathroom tiny, shower tiny, horrible smell from drain, very loud with people coming and going from their rooms at night, early morning. Pool bar has very odd times of offering certain things, none of this is advertised at the bar, there is no snack menu or times that things are available. Hot snacks and crepes only available 3.30 till 4.30. The menu consists of "mini burgers" which is a hamburger cut in half, toastie, mini hotdog. Not sure why they cut everything in half. You can only order hot snacks at one side of the bar and tell you off for standing in the wrong place. Theres a self serve drinks machine by reception and when asking for a lemonade at the pool bar I was told to go get it from the machine.... they use plastic straws for slush and iced coffees but when I asked for one for a cocktail that hadn't been mixed I was told no, the bar man refused and said as they are bad for the environment. The main food, absolutely awful. One evening the first dish you saw as you walked in was enough to put you off everything else. Looked like cat sick. The selection is very small and nothing actually makes a meal, all very random choices that are all swimming in oil. Some dishes are just where they chuck everything that hasn't been used over the last couple nights into a sauce and label it a variety of meats. Really poor. We ended up eating out three times and I ordered food in for my son twice. This was not a cheap holiday for the standard of the food. The tui entertainment reps....two girls that mumbled activities over the mic, would say they were going to start an activity and then not bother, more interested in talking to other young guests about going out. Showed no enthusiasm to engage the guests. Activities they did do were a shambles. Water polo with no caps, goals or anything just a ball in the water, darts board that looked about 200 years old, said they couldn't do the pool tournament as they didnt have €2 for the table? All a bit weird. Felt like making them an amazon wish list. we have paid similar for 4/5 star in Turkey and had much better so maybe thats our fault for having higher expectations. Was a shame, wont return to niriides.

The title says it all. This was our second trip to Niriides this year and our 3rd in total. We absolutely love everything about this hotel but especially the people. We can pay it no higher compliment than to say it's like visiting close friends and feels like coming home when we arrive. Thank you all for your kindness and hospitality!
