Eden Roc

4 nights, got booked in for 3 ala carte restaurants, all very good. Facilities good. Reception vey friendly and helpful, special mention to spiros who was excellent. Would 100% stay again.

I felt it was only fair to leave a review for Eden Roc, as we've just come back from a complimentary stay due to issues we mainly experienced with our room last year. We stayed in the Executive Suite again, which was great. We couldn't fault the room; we didn't experience any issues and everything was as expected. It was a spacious room with a sea-view balcony overlooking the pool — beautiful. The renovations they have done to the pool area are great and were much needed. There are really comfortable sun loungers and plenty of them. They now also have sofa loungers and cabanas, and we managed to get a bed every day with no problem. The pool area looks stunning and is now what you'd expect from a 5* resort. I have mixed feelings about the quality of the food. Some of the à la carte restaurants are exceptional, especially the Peruvian restaurant. We couldn't fault it last year and can't fault it now. It really is a go-to when staying at this resort. I also really enjoyed the Italian restaurant. Again, I couldn't fault the food or menu, and the service here is one of the best. The main server, who is usually there at breakfast and lunch, is so efficient, welcoming and polite. We also ate at the Teppanyaki and Arun Asia, which both have similar menus consisting of either sushi dishes, Thai dishes and, obviously, Teppanyaki. Although the food itself was nice, it really isn't as authentic as it should be. The Pad Thai (which comes with prawns, although this isn't specified on the menu) and papaya salad don't taste anything like the authentic Thai dishes you'd expect. The Pad Thai really was just sweet-and-sour noodles, and the salad consisted mainly of cucumber, with no spice or flavour really at all. As someone who often eats Thai food, we expected better quality from both of these restaurants. On a positive note, I will say that the atmosphere at both is great, especially the Teppanyaki — who doesn't like seeing fire?! Now, the Cone restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. The breakfast really is a standout, although I did notice that the quality of some dishes has changed, which was disappointing. However, I would still recommend breakfast here. The lunch and dinner are questionable. At lunch, I had a Caesar salad, which I usually enjoy, but it was almost inedible — really sickly sauce and hardly any chicken. We also heard many comments about the burgers being dreadful, although we didn't eat them ourselves. Dinner was a mixed bag. I had the Harissa lamb, which was delicious. My husband had the pork, which was dry, tough and came with a mixture of raw vegetables and crisps on top, which was an odd combination and really wasn't pleasant to eat. The food here just seems really inconsistent, which is a shame. It is the less formal of all the restaurants, but I do expect the food to match the 5* rating, and in my opinion, it doesn't. We only went to the buffet once, which I didn't rate. I'm not a massive fan of buffets anyway. Some people like them, but I found the food to be of a low quality. I guess this comes down to personal preference. The bars around the hotel are all really nice. We particularly love the wine and champagne bar, as wine is really all I drink, although I do like a cocktail. Again, my personal opinion is that the cocktails aren't of a high quality. They all are made using the syrups, for example, the Piña Colada, a typical holiday drink, is made using coconut syrup, so it doesn't taste nice or fresh as you'd expect. I did try a few of them and, honestly, just felt like I was drinking a very basic canned cocktail. Again, for a 5* resort, I would expect quality cocktails using fresh ingredients. The branded selection of alcohol is also very limited, as is the soft drink selection. They only have Pepsi and 7UP on offer. The main pool bar has the biggest range of cocktails, with the inside cocktail bar serving a different menu, which is quite limited. I also find it rather inconvenient that you can't get a cocktail you like from all of the bars. For example, my husband liked one of the cocktails from the Champagne & Wine Bar and couldn't get it anywhere else. When we sat near the beach in the evening, we asked the beach bar if they could make it, but they said no and that we'd have to go back to the C&W Bar in the main hotel, which I find a bit ridiculous. I feel you should be able to get a drink made for you at any bar, but that isn't the case. They also don't serve any of the most popular cocktails you'd expect, or, if they do, they're called something different or made with different ingredients. So you do just have to order them and see how they taste. I really didn't find any that I particularly liked, other than a Margarita, which you can't really go wrong with! The entertainment was limited, with only Aqua Gym taking place at the main pool each day. I did hear a lot of guests asking why water polo wasn't taking place, as they expected it to, but I'm not sure why they didn't put this on. I definitely think the daytime entertainment could be better, or at least have music playing. This only ever came on twice a day, which I couldn't understand. The evening entertainment feels targeted towards a particular audience. It wasn't to our taste, but again, that's just personal preference. The one night the DJ and sax player were on at the beach bar was excellent. I really feel they should have this on more often, or at least have an alternative to the main entertainment to give people a choice. I personally love sitting near the beach listening to music, as do many others, judging by how popular that night was. I would recommend this hotel, but go with an open mind, as it may not appeal to everyone's taste. Once you're there, there really isn't anywhere else to go. I have been twice now and, personally, wouldn't go again. We did have a nice holiday, but there were just a few things that let it down for me personally.

We recently stayed at Eden Roc to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary, and unfortunately, it did not live up to its 5-star rating. It feels much closer to a 3-4 star hotel, as many areas appeared tired and worn. We stayed in room 128, which was adequate, but the view from our balcony was completely obscured and non-existent. We encountered a few minor issues upon arrival, including a TV with no reception and a safe that needed resetting, though the maintenance team resolved these quickly. Our main frustration was with restaurant bookings. We tried using the hotel app before arriving to make reservations, but were told we couldn't book until check-in. When we tried the app upon checking in late in the evening, it stated that ALL restaurants were fully booked. When we contacted reception, we were told we had to speak to Guest Relations the next day—but they didn't open until 12:30 PM. For a hotel of this size and supposed rating, it is ridiculous that no one is available to handle customer concerns in the morning. We ultimately secured some reservations, but not at our preferred places or choice of times. To make matters worse, we later spoke to another couple who were allowed to book their restaurants in advance, exposing a frustrating lack of consistency. On the positive side, the all-inclusive package offered good value, and the food and drinks were of a very high standard. The bar staff were incredibly friendly, though long queues suggested they needed more support. The mood of the restaurant staff was mixed, but the entertainment team was very good and highly professional. Finally, we were extremely disappointed that despite writing to the hotel well in advance to let them know we were celebrating our 20th anniversary, no token effort or acknowledgement was made. It was a very disappointing letdown for a special milestone.

We have just returned from Eden roc, we had a 10 night stay in the ‘800’ pool view bungalow. We are a mid 20s couple and have been on holidays all over Greece, from 2* apartments to 5* luxury so have seen many different levels of hotels. I was really excited about this hotel from the amount of amazing reviews and people raving about it and I’ve come away not understanding how these can be true, we felt disappointed that we were promised a 5* luxury all inclusive holiday (and paid £4k for two people for it) and this was far from that unfortunately. It wasn’t all bad, there were some really good highlights from the holiday which definitely helped but for us the bad outweighed the good. Hotel grounds- we found this tired and messy, the gardens not well kept, lots of things broken such as sunbeds and brollies. It all looked dated and a lot of it looks like it needs a lick of paint and a tidy up. At the pool they just placed plant pots over bad tiling which looked odd. Definitely not a 5* aesthetic hotel. At the 800 pool, this hadn’t been cleaned once, there was a big pile up of sand in the bottom of the pool which wasn’t great, other pools were salt water and we didn’t spend much time down there as all we smelt on the first day was sewage whilst sunbathing. The beach is nice however is filled with rubbish by the end of the day and you can also see lots of rubbish when snorkelling. Restaurants and bars all looked lovely inside the hotel. Rooms- We paid for the extra for the 800 room and again we felt this was dated and not 5* worthy. The aircon is quite bad at this hotel as its ’water Cooled’ so doesn’t get as cold as others, this wasn’t helped by a water leak which meant no water to our room and no aircon for 2 days ( to which we had no apology, no fans and no extra water given, we were also ignored by reception 5 times). We also had 2 TVs and neither of them worked. We also had a blocked aircon filter. This hadn’t been cleaned in god knows how long and was only cleaned due to us complaining. When it was changed you could see how blocked it was. The rooms were however kept clean, more water and loo roll would have been nice. Food/drink- A real mixed bag here, some days were amazing and others really weren’t. We tried all the breakfast places, breakfast buffet was actually probably one of the worst I’ve had in any hotel that offers breakfast, pastries and bread were stale, not a massive selection either. The à la carte breakfast was lovely and breakfast at the 800 bar was also lovely. We again tried all available lunch places, couldn’t fault this, our favourite was the beach buffet, wood fired pizzas and good food, same with 800 bar this was really good too. The à la carte for lunch was okay, nothing special and always a queue. Dinner- we managed to get booked into every single à la carte as we wanted to try them all (definitely go see guest relations when you check in) I would say out of all of them only 3 are worth visiting. Peruvian was incredible and the best meal of the whole trip, same with basilico Italian and the grill. The dine out wasn’t great, it was wasp infested and expensive for drinks, food was okay but super rushed. Asia again was okay, nothing special but nice vibes, Mediterranean was the worst one for us unfortunately, we left most of the food as it wasn’t nice. The service however in all of these were top notch and the staff were really friendly in explaining menus. The buffet again was okay, not what I expected for 5*, you find show cooking in most 3/4* as a standard and yet nothing here? Some times you could get some really good food and other times it was dry and hard. Drinks- again this was hit and miss, this was advertised as branded premium spirits however they didn’t use them and you had to ask. If not you’d get the cheap stuff. Bar 800 was amazing for drinks, nikos is the best member of staff you have at the hotel and deserves all the praise. They need more staff on the bars as you would be waiting 20 minutes in a queue for a drink. The entertainment was great, we stayed to watch a lot of the shows and thought these were really good quality. Overall a very mixed hotel, I would never say this is 5* so if you’re looking for that I’d look elsewhere.

This is a fabulous hotel. We have visited several times and every year it gets a little better. This year they have improved the main pools with steps and cabanas. We are normally beach people but the pool was so great we spent a lot of time here this visit. The staff are wonderful, the many ala carte restaurants are fab. We love everything about this hotel.
