Kalithea Horizon Royal

We were in hotel twice this year, because we loved it last year. Our first stay was in July for 10 nights and we were so thrilled by amazing animation team from Pink Wave, that our little daughter (4 years) begged us to come back for another stay. So we came back for 7 nights in September. Hotel has great food, nice and clean beach and sea and very good services, but the heart and soul of the hotel was this year animation team from Pink Wave led by Antonin from France, who is superb dancer, very good moderator, funny and very friendly guy. Our daughter loved mini disco every night and we loved night shows perfomed by animation team. We thank especially Dany from Czech republic, who was very friendly and was in touch with us every day. Julie from Italy is very good with kids and our daughter loved both guys Piotr from Poland and Matteo from Italy. The whole animation team was really superb this year, very friendly, with great shows, always in a good mood, very supportive. We never experienced such a great animation team so far. Hotel is very lucky to have them, because the experience would not be this positive without them. Ok so to the hotel and services. Hotel is a very good 4 star hotel. Food was very tasty in Athena restaurant, where you can get great variety of food. Unfortunately the 4th day of our stay we got sick with severe diarrhea from food poisoning. We think it was the prawns (schrimps) which were in some kind of sauce and were not properly cooked maybe (there were blood in them when you open them). But other than that, food was excellent and very tasty. We were in hotel twice before the last stay in September and never had any problem, so it was probably a sporadic incident. For lunches we went to Delphina snack bar. Food a la carte with gyros, pizza etc. Very tasty, but we have one minor complaint and this is the service. We had all inclusive yellow bands so we have food for free. We noticed that personal preffered guests, who payed by cash or were giving tips. They were served preferably and we had to wait until someone noticed we are there. But other than that, the personal was friendly and we have a compassion for their hard work, as it is not easy to work in the heat so many hours. The last complaint and its the biggest one was that around rooms in which we were accomodated (next to Safari park) was a very strong stench of sewage ( feces). It was very unpleasant, because in some cases you could not open the balcony door, because of the severe stench. We told it on reception during our July stay, but we were told its normal and they cant do anything about it. So we were pretty discouraged, that the hotel does not intent to fix the horrible smell of feces. It was the same in July and the same in September (we were in similar rooms next to Safari park). To the beach and sea: Beach is sandy and cleaned, but there are only 2 small places with gradual slope into the sea for kids, other places you have to jump to the sea. The sea was very clear with a lot of fishes. Chef of the beach is a guy from Albania, who was very friendly. Sunbeds cost 6 euro (2 sunbeds and 1 umbrella). Overall we were very happy with our stay in this hotel, we can recommend it. It has a great animation team from Pink Wave (at least this year), very good and tasty food, clear sea and beaches, and very good services. If the hotel fix the stench from sewage, it would be top destination once again.

the animation crew is very great

so we arrive last week worried sick after all the reviews. We found nothing of the sort of what we read. I'm not saying peoples experiences weren't true but if this was the case things have changed. The hotel is very spread out I don't think we have explored even half of it. we mainly used the afroditie pool i think it is called. We used Mythos pool once and then the beach. Both pools we're spotless the only thing was a film on the water which is sunscreen not sure what you can do about that. The beach is out of this world. Crystal clear water lovely views great beach bar and the wonderful Nikos who looks after the sunbeds. Just a tip if you are from the UK and use the beach a lot it's worth upgrading your bands to the blue ones so you can use the bar as all inclusive . We didn't and spent more that 20 euros a day so would have been worth the 10 euro per person per day upgrade. Food- This is where it lacks its fine but it's not 4 star dinner was the best but breakfast i wasn't very keen on. Like I say i'm not slating it but i've had better 4 star. There were no flies in thallasso resteraunt and hand gel stations were provided. Entertainment- we only went to the main bar in reception and it was great ! service was exceptional Savas was so good he looked after you all night even saved your table while you went for dinner. Learned our names and was just wonderful. we saw some fantastic acts over the week. overall I found the hotel to be clean and tidy with very pleasant staff and and overall great experience. I would 100% return. So if you have booked and are worried in my opinion don't ! just come and have the best time 🇬🇷❤️

If you are German it’s the hotel for you… if you are from UK then you are ignored and spoken to like you are an idiot. Reception staff rude, told because I said it was unacceptable that I couldn’t have a late check out room and I found that disappointing I was talking to them disrespectfully! I wasn’t , I just said in a nice calm manner that I thought it was. Food ok, seriously there is a fly issue as they are everywhere , and I mean everywhere! Smells of sewage and place is run down. Please avoid if you can, apart from that beach area is beautiful, and buggies arrive quickly. You are ignored in dining area - unless you are German then you get served, acknowledged and spoken to. Pools are lovely, clean & beds are good. Beds in hotel room are awful, like sleeping on a wall.

Arived quite late to check in but went well, was expecting angry manager from reviews but the man who checked us in was good and helpful. Cart to our rooms. I did email several weeks before arrival to ask for our two rooms (family of 5) to be as close as possible. We were given rooms next to each other and even better an internal joining door, room 820 and 1022, this made our holiday a whole lot easier. Rooms size were very good large balconys with amazing view over the beach and sea. Cleaner was amazing very friendly and really good job of our rooms. The pools we mostly went to Mythos pool, large pools at differentdepths and a kids shallow pool, very relaxed, close to room and always sun beds available. Easy to get food and drink, very nice and friendly staff in the bar there, indoor pool if you want it. We did go to the Athena pool once in our two weeks several pools stepping down to a bar and was always really busy and I had to go there at 7am to get the last five sun beds near a pool, was ok but felt like we were really crammed in. We went to the water park pool one day as we have 6yo it was nice and pool at the back was quite quiet and my daughter could use the water slides and bits for the younger ones. We only used the pool at the top defina a couple of times but was very good and found sunbeds throughout the day large pool varying in depth think the deepest pool at 2m in one place. Has a smaller pool raised next to main pool and kids pool at the back. The food here qas good but you have to be seated and served. Found not so easy as other self service areas. We had the waiter from the reviews who is not so good and pulled a funny face at me when I had made a mistake and tried to fix it, saw him try and walk through several people when serving people. I find this funny and like to watch it happening and others reactions to this sort of thing. Food is good though. We mostly went to Athena restaurant which was nice, we did have the lots of flies issue while there and towards the end of the holiday they were covering up the food more and trying to control it. The food was nice, lots to choose from, fresh tuna once a week. Lots of fish dishes lamb chicken, vegetables, the pizza and roast place down the steps at the back was good and sushi bar. I wouldn't say the food was amazing but I am sure there is always somthing for everyone. The Thalassa restaurant was ok but inside so found this to be warmer but no flies. Better options for my wife who needs gluten free food, both restaurants tried to show her round what she could have and what she could not bit this seemed to contradicted what the signs were saying so she had to decide for her self what she could have. Safari bar was good because we had kids with us and had entertainment, the staff at this bar were amazing, worked really hard and always friendly. We found the drinks at the top bar in the main hotel to be better and good choice. The beach is amazing, we knew we had to pay for the beds so chose to have two as we were in the sea most of the time. Great for snorkeling and swiming. We used the bar at the beach just for drink and ice cream we had yellow band so knew we had to pay which is fine when we knew that was the case. Overall the staff in this complex make this place good with just a few things that let it down, probably not really a 4 star resort
