Meandros Boutique & Spa Hotel

The hotel cancelled our booking (that was made 6 months earlier) 8 hours before we were due to arrive because they decided to close the hotel earlier than originally planned. No apologies made by the hotel. No alternative options offered. Unbelievably poor customer service.

Just back from a week at this Lovely adult only Boutique Hotel , extremely well maintained and managed , wonderful & helpful staff ,, Buffet style Restaurant were the food was great .. Good selection for breakfast and dinner / every night offers a different theme food experience ..bedroom modern spacious and spotless with A/C & balcony.. lovely pool area with snack bar .. No Nightly entertainment, restaurant closes at 9pm & outside Bar closes at 10pm .. A Great Pool and pool area for sunbathing

Ideally located just a 10 min drive from the airport just off the far end of Kalimaki main strip. This hotel was exceptional in all aspects. We had a grand room overlooking the pool and because it had a lounge and bedroom it came with a double width balcony. Plenty of sun loungers around the pool and hardly anyone put towels on them. Food was excellent served buffet style but with a specialist station for various carvery style meats. Drinks at the bar were not overpriced like most hotels being roughly 50cents more than the local bars. Plenty of shops and bars within 10-15 min walk and the beach is about a 10 min walk as well. The staff were without exception brilliantly polite and efficient and always cheerful. A sure sign of good management. All in all a very pleasant holiday so much so we've already booked for next year.

Unfortunately, our stay at Hotel Meandros was far from what we expected. In my opinion, this is more like a 3-star hotel, not a 5-star property. The first and probably most unpleasant thing was the attitude at reception. Many reviews mention that one of the female receptionists is rude, and unfortunately, we had the same experience with the receptionist with brownish-red hair. The way she spoke to us made us feel as if we were asking for a personal favour in her own house, rather than asking for reasonable help from a hotel. During checkout, we asked if we could keep a small 200 g package of cheese that we had bought from a shop in the hotel fridge for a short time. The response was: “This is the reception.” Yes, exactly — this is the reception of a hotel, where guests should be helped when possible. After I insisted, they eventually found a small space for the cheese. It was a very unnecessary and unpleasant interaction. The hotel does have an indoor swimming pool, but using it is not included in the stay. Guests have to pay €10 for just 1.5 hours. This was very disappointing, especially for a hotel presenting itself as a 5-star property. In fact, it seemed that guests had to pay extra for almost everything. Even using the fridge in the room or the safe required an additional payment. These are basic facilities that I would expect to be included in the room price. The room itself was large, which was a positive, but the bathroom/shower is poorly designed. After taking a shower, water gets everywhere in the bathroom. The staff working in cleaning and the kitchen are mostly Filipino and generally very nice and friendly, so I want to give them credit for that. However, the cleaning was not at the standard you would expect from a 5-star hotel. The room was supposedly cleaned every day, but our bedroom floor was dirty throughout the entire 7-day stay, and dust remained on the furniture. There was also an incident that was particularly disappointing. After cleaning, my pyjamas were left on top of my hairdryer, while my husband’s pyjamas had been dropped onto the dirty wheels of our luggage. We complained at reception, and they did offer to clean the pyjamas. The dining room for dinner and breakfast is extremely small. If you are unlucky, you may have to wait outside until the staff call you when a table becomes available. It is difficult to know how long you might have to wait, especially when guests come for dinner, order drinks and take their time enjoying the evening. The breakfast arrangement is also poorly designed. Omelettes are prepared in the same room where guests sit and eat. As a result, the entire room becomes filled with cooking smells, and afterwards our clothes smelled strongly of food. The air in the breakfast room was also very unpleasant and heavily affected by these smells. The food was very average. We had two dinners that were actually good, but on the other days the food was disappointing — often tasteless and repetitive. Breakfast and dinner felt very similar from day to day. The desserts were especially disappointing. They felt like something from the 1980s, extremely sweet, mostly sugar or something resembling whipped cream, and in many cases simply not enjoyable to eat. Overall, the service attitude, additional charges for basic facilities, cleanliness, dining-room size, unpleasant food smells, food quality and general standard do not match a 5-star hotel. Hotel Meandros is a 3-star experience than a 5-star one. I do not recommend it at all.
