Alua Suites Fuerteventura

We booked directly with the hotel, and were really looking forward to our stay. Unfortunately we were disappointed. The staff were lovely, but the room left an awful lot to be desired, the food was ok at breakfast, and the pool bar afternoon wasn't too bad, the evening food was not nice, lots of choice, all poor I'm afraid, I am glad we were only there for 4 nights. Our view was of an area where they obviously dump broken sunbeds/tables/brollies etc, there where cigarette burns on the balcony cushions and table, which looked like it should be in the said dump area. The room was tired and scruffy, beds like concrete. The bath/shower was horrible, the sink and shower wouldn't drain, the TV wouldn't stay on (not a biggie, but may be if you have kids). If we'd booked via an agent we would have asked for a change of hotel. I don't usually leave a bad review, and we're not really fussy, but this was way below our expectations I'm afraid.

We loved staying here. We needed time out to relax and the hotel was perfect. The location to the centre of Corralejo was perfect and the sea was only a stroll away to get some breeze. We now class Fuertuventura as out favourite Canary Island. The sand dunes driving in are absolutely stunning. The hotel catered for every need. The food was good and there was plenty of choice. A bit repetitive sometimes, but the theme nights were excellent, especially the Chinese evening. Staff were excellent throughout. We are heavy tippers and all deserved. Those with walking issues and using mobility scooters are 100% suited to this site. The token system for drinks worked a treat and eliminated excess dirty plastics around the pool. Our suite was upstairs which we pre booked by emailing prior to arrival. This turned out to be a good move. We had a completely private balcony. Downstairs suites only have a small terrace with guests walking by. Zero privacy. We had 2 bedrooms, a walk in wardrobe, Jack and Jill bathroom and a spacious lounge so we had the potential to sleep 6. We had a lovely stay and would return, but the following is recommended for management to consider and improve upon. The aircon is situated directly above the wall mounted tv. Our system was leaking onto the plugs and wiring of the TV. Our doors were closed so we reported this to reception but nothing was done about it. See picture. Housekeeping was pretty basic. I had to clean the balcony furniture of pigeon poop. We had to request towels twice in our weeks stay. Same with loo roll. The shower had no rubber along the bottom resulting in a flooded floor. This was fixed after a phonecall. We couldn't use one of the wash hand basins as it wouldn't drain. This was reported but never fixed. The pools don't open until 10am and close at 5pm. We queried this and we're told that there's no lifeguards outwith these times which we understand but there's nothing better than an early morning dip to wake up. 2 pools were closed on different days for maintenance which is necessary and we totally understood. The pools were immaculate and the temperature perfect. The restaurant and bars were good. We love cocktails and paid for white Russians etc in the evening but they took forever to make, around 15 minutes due to 1 barman. Meanwhile a massive queue is developing....very stressful. Staff in the restaurant were excellent. We are foodies and found the hot choices excellent. The cold selection, cheese, meats etc at each service was good but was the same on a daily basis. Desserts were good. Wine on tap was pretty foul. Generally a lack of glasses at the drink stations. The pool bar drinks are far too strong. We are early bedders and prefer drinks on the balcony in the later evening but we enjoyed the entertainment which was mainly vocalists who all did a great job. Maybe a change of entertainment to keep guests more amused. There was bingo one night.....really To summarise, we relaxed, ate and drank happily. We'd happily return. Key point....book an upstairs suite for privacy. Highly recommended 👌

Beautiful location. Food and drink was amazing. Staff couldnt do enough. Clean rooms and gardens well kept. Second time here and will return again!

chose Alua Suites Fuerteventura specifically because it was advertised as a pet-friendly hotel. I informed the property in advance that I would be travelling with my 7 kg dog and received written confirmation that he was accepted. However, upon arrival, I was told that my dog was not allowed in any public areas and could only stay inside the room, with an additional charge of €50 per day. These restrictions had not been clearly communicated to me beforehand. The situation became even more unacceptable when I arrived at 12:00, three hours before check-in. Since my dog was not allowed in the hotel’s common areas and my room was not yet available, I was effectively left with nowhere to go and no access to the hotel facilities. I asked Airan at Reception for assistance and subsequently escalated the matter to Gemma, the manager. After approximately one hour of waiting, Gemma told me that I should have provided additional information about my dog, despite the fact that I had already declared his presence and received written confirmation of acceptance. When I showed her the documentation, her response was discourteous and entirely unhelpful. She told me that my only options were to sit on a chair outside the property or leave the hotel and go for a walk until 15:00. This is how a manager chose to handle a legitimate guest complaint. What disappointed me most was not simply the lack of clarity regarding the pet policy, but the complete absence of empathy, ownership and willingness to find a reasonable solution. I would have expected the staff to acknowledge the contradictory information and help resolve the situation, rather than making the guest bear the consequences of a communication failure. The personal impact was particularly significant: I had planned to propose to my partner during this trip, and this experience ruined the atmosphere of what should have been a very special occasion. A hotel cannot advertise itself as pet-friendly, confirm acceptance of a pet and then leave its guests in this situation without a practical alternative. Even more disappointing is the way the issue was handled by the people responsible for resolving it. I would strongly recommend that management review both its communication regarding pet policies and the conduct of the staff involved, particularly Airan and Gemma. Unfortunately, the service and treatment I received fell far below the standard of hospitality I expected from a hotel belonging to the Hyatt Inclusive Collection.

We had a lovely time at the Alua suites, me and my partner were coming on our first holiday with a 4 month old so we wanted somewhere, where we could be looked after to an extent (the rooms cleaned) but also be baby friendly but have the ability to go out if we want. Location is a little out from the main town which we knew when booking. Approx 20/25 Min walk however there is a small little square 10 mins away with some lovely restaurants and a market on a Thursday and Sunday! There is a boardwalk to walk from the beach or you can walk main road. Google maps is easy enough to follow. Room was a junior suite was a good size with a kettle, we took our towel collapsible wash bowl for bottles and managed, a travel cot was available on request and I emailed In Advance for it to be set up and it was. Room was cleaned spotlessly everyday. The place is massive a little like a maze with many pools, they were a good temperature for the heat (30degrees) and our baby along with others was fine getting in several of the pools. Food was fine lots of choice, we chose to eat most evening meals out by preference however there would be something for everyone to eat everyday with themed nights. The breakfast was good. You have to pay €20 deposit per towel if you want pool towels and don't get it back until you return the towels. We weren't told on arrival that we needed to keep the receipt so my partner ended up having a discussion with a lady who was quite rude however we managed to sort it. Only watched entertainment one night as we went out however it was singing ladies and was quite good they had people up and dancing. Lots of choice on the all inclusive drinks however the premade cocktails other than mojito were all really not very nice im not sure how anyone enjoys them. Bar staff were all really nice though and there was options for some decent spirits if you ask. There was always pool availability for sunbeds and we even saw signs put out on some beds for some sunbed hoggers who left towels but didn't use the beds all day. My only downside was that the areas weren't too clean nobody seemed to mop around the pool areas or clean the pool side tables everyday they were dirty when we would arrive at 10am but otherwise the pools were good and they had lots of entertainment. Overall we had a reallly good holiday and it was an ideal hotel for our first holiday with a baby where we just wanted to chill, eat and not do too much!
