Riu Palace Palmeras

Hotel is great and has potential however 80% of guest is over 60. Not great for family with kids under 10. If you didn’t retire yet do not go there. Very disappointed that tge website doesn’t mention it.

Our seven day was enjoyable, we were allocated a top floor room with a pool and sea view as we rquested. The site and facilities were well cared for. The evenings were enjoyable and relaxing with the live entertainment and bar service.the staff were friendly and helpful.

Firstly, I have to say this hotel is immaculate and exceptionally clean in all areas. I am very fussy but couldn’t fault the cleanliness so well done to the hotel on this front. The grounds are beautiful and sun bed wars wasn’t really a thing. Yes, prime spots were taken by 7:30am but you could go down to the poolside at any time of day and find loungers with ease. I do not like loud blaring music so the fact that there wasn’t music pumping all day should have been a bonus for me. However, I must admit that even I found it a little too quiet and it caused a slight lack in atmosphere. There is no animation team and water gym is the highlight of the week in terms of what is on offer!!! We do not have young kids but I did not see a mini disco going on at any point but I could have missed it. The food is nice but after several days of repetitive choices it becomes very samey. I have read other people’s reviews where they have said it’s fantastic but I personally do not agree. There is a lack of vegetarian options, a lack of cold meats and the salads are the same every day. I really do feel there could be an improvement and a little more imagination put into the menu. But we’re all different I guess! The pools are an adequate size and never feel over crowded. They too are very clean and regular water testing is carried out through the day by the staff. All in I have mixed feelings about this hotel, with a few adjustments I think this could be a real gem as it is in a great location too,

The hotel is spotless. It’s in a very good location. The staff are very amicable and helpful., there are enough sunbeds for everyone, I’m at home you don’t have to rush to get them in the mornings, although to get a prime, spot you need to be under starters orders at about 7:30 am!.. there is not much in the way of Entertainment during the day save for a half hearted effort at Aqua Gym.. no daily games, no music around the pool. The restaurant is great for breakfast but lunch and dinner is the same most days, some people will disagree….but if they do they’ve never visited a decent 4*+ AI previously. I’ll let you make up your own mind on my perceptions.. the two pools never felt crowded and the pool bar was easily accessible for drinks, main bar nice and clean with good staff and international drinks. Mostly German and French guests with a small amount of English. Would I come back? - No. - Reason - Monotonous food, no cold meats at lunchtime save a single plate of pork each day. We’ve stayed in Gran Canaria six times and this hotel is right in the middle of the six.

Wonderful stay, wish we had been able to book for longer! Food - delicious and varied. Pools were quiet and rooms perfect 👌
