We booked the Riu Palmaras to try and adult only experience. Some say it's too quiet around the pool area during the day but as an older couple we enjoyed a bit of relaxation without all the games. This hotel was smaller than other Riu hotels we have visited but still has same service level and wasn't as crowded in the restaurant at meal times. It was nice to see the manager around most days talking to guests. Also there is a live band or duo playing every evening. A good choice of drinks served at your table including well known labels. All in all a lovely holiday . We probably won't return because the location of the hotel isn't as nice as Meloneras but that's purely a personal choice.

We are creatures of habit & have therefore used Riu hotels for years. We signed up to the loyalty system a while ago & consequently this was our first holiday with the Riu Gold Class status. The only disappointment with this was that the benefits include being able to specifically request specific rooms through the app. I requested a high floor & was disappointed to have been allocated a room on the 3rd floor of 7. That said it did allow us a complimentary extra 2 hours in the room for a late check out. The hotel is in a fabulous location, the footprint of the hotel is that much smaller than the usual Riu hotels we go to, therefore the things we might usually expect (coffee shop, 4/5 specialty restaurants, more bars) wasn’t available. However, this didn’t affect the holiday at all. The usual entertainment team we would expect also wasn’t available & we did not miss this at all. What this resulted in was proper entertainment with singers. This also meant the whole day was uninterrupted by aqua aerobics/pool parties, etc. We found the hotel incredibly relaxing, the gardens are very established & beautiful. There is no waiter service around the pool that you might expect with some Palace hotels, but the pool bar really is just a skip away. There are the usual selfish people who think their pool towels is a mortgage deed, and are scurrying out at seven in the morning to secure ‘their’ sun beds, I do think more action should be taken to combat this. However, that said we usually found a sun bed after a mornings walk to the Dunes. The food is good, with all buffets if you hit it wrong you might be a little disappointed at times but on the whole we always found something to eat. The breakfasts are great, delicious morning breads to choose from. The food at the pool bar was also good with cooked foods/fruits. In the evening there is also a buffet by the bar, we never ate from this but it looked good with a varied choice. The drinks selection is good but I found the cocktails far too sweet. ALL staff were brilliant, attentive but unobtrusive, underrated stars of the show: housekeeping! All in all a fabulous holiday & one of the few hotels we plan to specifically return to. We loved it, thank you!

The hotel , room and service was very good, but the evening entertainment let it down. There is a snack bar which is self service but all food is luke warm. It’s not somewhere we would return.
