Riu Papayas

Really disappointed with this hotel and expected more from the RIU brand. The grounds have a problem with ants that they clearly don’t even try to do anything about, especially around the Dunas bar area. The nightly entertainment is quite frankly laughable and non existent after 10pm.. embarrassing for them that both of the resorts either side still has decent live music/entertainment ongoing whilst they let their guests sit in silence without so much of even a playlist on a speaker after the live entertainment has finished. The food is repetitive and this hotel doesn’t do ‘themed nights’ so if you like eating burgers everyday, this is the place for you. The olè restaurant is the poorest place I’ve ever eaten. I ended up leaving the whole plate. The steak they served was full of fat and gristle to the point I could not cut into it. The Asian restaurant isn’t much better - poor quality food and we left 15 minutes after sitting down at our second table as the waitress seated another couple on our table whilst we were up getting our food. The wristbands are low quality. Mine had to be changed several times due to it becoming too tight on your wrist and unable to loosen them. The only reason I’ve given this hotel 3 stars is because the rooms are clean and most of the staff that work here are friendly. If this wasn’t the case, it would be receiving 1 star. Definitely will not be returning here and do not think that RIU Papayas is worthy of the 4* rating it obtains.

Five stars for Hotel Riu Papayas! We had a fantastic stay and can't recommend it enough. A massive thank you to the great kitchen staff for the wonderful food and service, as well as the daytime entertainment staff who kept the energy up and made the days so much fun. The rooms were absolutely spotless and cleaned to perfection every single day. All of the amenities were good too, making for a seamless and relaxing holiday. We will definitely be back!" Really lovely hotel, very clean rooms have everything you need and are cleaned each day. Staff all very friendly and always acknowledge you when passing. Food was good always something to eat but did become very repetitive which is to be expected. Themed Thai restaurant was fantastic very nice and food all hot. Location was ok not too far of a walk to the beach but the hotel also run a shuttle bus there and back if needed. Pool a little overcrowded and constantly being hit by balls some guests didn’t seem to care they were doing this. Drinks ok cocktails pretty weak. Always found a sunbed even if it was on the terrace but was very hot due to no umbrellas if you want a sunbed by the pool you will have to get up early. Entertainment was ok but the entertainers themselves were fantastic and the white party was absolutely amazing and highly recommended going.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ RIU PAPAYAS — ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ We’ve had the most amazing stay at Riu Papayas and honestly, we really can’t fault it! The service throughout the hotel has been absolutely top-class. Every member of staff we’ve come across has been friendly, welcoming and incredibly helpful. Nothing ever feels like too much trouble. And the food… WOW! 🤤 This is genuinely the best all-inclusive food we’ve ever had. The main restaurant is phenomenal — so much choice, everything fresh and delicious, and such a great variety throughout our stay. The grill is fantastic too and has definitely been a favourite of ours! The hotel itself is spotlessly clean and beautifully maintained. You can tell how much effort goes into keeping everything looking so good, and the standards are consistently high. We’ve stayed in some lovely hotels, but Riu Papayas has honestly exceeded our expectations. From the food and service to the cleanliness and overall atmosphere, it’s been a 10/10 experience. We’ve absolutely loved our holiday here and are genuinely gutted that it’s nearly time to go home! 😭❤️ Thank you, Riu Papayas, for such a fantastic stay.
