TUI BLUE Flamingo Beach

The location was the best part of our holiday. Our sea-view apartment was right by the beach and close to the shops, and that view made a real difference to our stay. The TUI staff were lovely and greeted us warmly when we arrived. The apartment needed updating, especially the bathroom. Our bath had filler covering what appeared to be a hole, tiles were coming apart, and silicone seemed to be holding parts of the bathroom together. There was a very small TV in the living area and none in the bedroom. The kitchen had cooking facilities, utensils and cutlery, but no washing-up bowl, sponge or tea towels. The evening entertainment was disappointing for us. The first night’s futuristic space show had singing that sounded very out of tune, followed by basic juggling. One contemporary dance act was good, but the rest felt unintentionally funny. The second night’s guitar singer seemed to play the same few chords throughout, with the guitar overpowering his voice. At the silent disco, both DJs repeated songs the other had already played. We found the main all-inclusive food poor and were glad to have a kitchen. The snack bar was okay for a quick bite, but I honestly could not have eaten that food throughout a week’s holiday. The included drinks were also fairly basic and didn’t taste nice so we got our drinks from the shops along the beach front. On a positive note, the restaurant we could book for one evening was really nice, and its staff could not have done more for us. We also spent several evenings at the separate, pay-as-you-go restaurant within the complex, where the team took excellent care of us. Overall, I would rate this as an average, three-star Spanish resort, mainly because of its location. The interior of our room felt closer to two-star standard. The beachfront setting and, at a push, the facilities bring the overall experience up to three stars for me. Families with children may enjoy it more, but as adults we found little appeal in the entertainment. If I returned, I would book it with the view of a self-catering holiday rather than rely on the all-inclusive package.

Great value for money and friendly staff

We liked the accomodation which was well laid out with nice one bedroom apartments. The food was fine but it's not the nicest restaurant we've ever been in. A nice touch was an evening meal in a off- site restaurant with waiter service as part of the deal. The entertainment was aimed at a family audience and the atmosphere in the main bar was manic. We steered clear of it and found some bars in the area more to our taste. This kind of takes the edge off an all inclusive holiday. It seemed to us that the hotel was crying out for an adults only area/bar with appropriate entertainment. All in all it was a good holiday but we would have to see improvements before we would return. As a postscript Tui made no effort to seat any of the four of us together on the flights there and back. We have been holidaying two or three times a year with Jet2 for well over a decade and we have always been seated together. Tui are obviously more interested in profit by expecting passengers to pay upfront for booked seats rather than offering seats to couples as a matter of course. For this reason alone we will always consider Jet2 ahead of Tui when considering a holiday.

We’ve just returned from another lovely 2-week stay at Playa Flamingo Beach as a couple. We stayed in a beachfront apartment which had recently been painted and freshened up — perfect for a sunrise swim. Gabrielle, our cleaner, was lovely and remembered us from our previous stays. Rooms are cleaned 5 times a week with fresh towels. One of the best things about this hotel is the food! There’s always something different, with themed nights including Mexican, Dessert, Canarian, Italian and Seafood. During our stay there were numerous fish, meat, vegetarian and vegan dishes, as well as local cuisine. You’d have to be particularly fussy not to find something to enjoy! The chefs are always out front and happy to answer any questions about the dishes. The restaurant has a new supervisor, Christian, who greets you at the door with a lovely smile and plays a great 80s playlist while you eat! Thank you to Houssine in the bar, he works so hard and is a credit to the hotel. One of our favourite meals was at the Taverna. The staff — Raul, Khatre, Silvia, Omar and Khattar — are incredibly happy and attentive, and the food was absolutely delicious. We both had the steak, cooked to perfection, and the garlic prawns were superb. We went to the morning fitness class every day with either Muriel or Helena, who were both amazing and such lovely ladies. Muriel is moving on soon for her winter job with TUI and will be sadly missed — she is a real asset to the team. A big thank you again to Marina and the fantastic reception team for answering our emails/queries and allocating our requested room. The only negative we experienced on this trip was smoking and vaping. There are ‘no smoking / vaping’ signs around the pools, pool bars and evening bar (and no ashtrays), but some guests still smoke or vape in their seats, which as non-smokers we found very annoying. Overall, we had another fantastic holiday. Great value for money, wonderful food and such friendly staff — we will be back! Well done to all at Team Grupotel Flamingo Beach!
