Best Hotel Semiramis

The Best Semiramis claims to be a five star hotel, the staff are certainly five star, as are the grounds, but the building has not kept up with the demands of modern tourism and I would only rate the building four star. The staff are excellent, all places, reception, restaurant, bar, gym, pools, etc. They go out of their way to make sure things run smoothly and I would rate service as five star. The grounds are generous in size with two pools, a small gym and plenty of places to laze around and catch the sun or be shaded from the sun. Again, I would rate the grounds as five star. The building was good for its day and still is quite good. It is spacious, clean, welcoming, well maintained, but a bit outdated in some of the small things that matter to modern tourists. There is a free Wi-Fi system, which is fine in the centre of the hotel, but kept fading out in my room. I got messages on my phone requesting me to move to an area of better reception, the TV was connected to the Wi-Fi and kept giving me messages of no Wi-Fi signal which meant I couldn’t get the UK stations I wanted to view. The TV was basically a disaster, much of the time it showed no Wi-Fi and I couldn’t get a programme. The helpful staff sorted it, and it was fine until I tried to change station. One evening it tripped the circuit breaker, and I had to sit in a totally dark bedroom (except for weak outside natural light) until the electricians came on shift at 8.00 am. The bathroom was spacious, but the shower system was old fashioned, it was a challenge to get the water temperature I needed and the shower head sprayed water beyond the shower on to the main floor of the bathroom, The bedroom was large, spacious with a great view from the balcony out to sea. It had sufficient traditional electric plugs but no USB plugs or anything for the computer age. There was no trouser press, nor iron and ironing board. Some reviewers have complained about lack of bottled water in the room. This only applied to certain floors. Some floors (more expensive} had water, fruit, and other extra services. Overall, it is a nice hotel, well situated, with excellent grounds and service, but it needs updating in minor things. I would go back.

The hotel was very nice but there was no iron or ironing board but the Tenerife is a beautiful place l enjoyed my holiday 🙂

Needs a refurb - building fabric and also upholstery on seating- my bath had so many repairs it could have gone through a war zone NO SMOKING NOT ENFORCED - could not sit on balcony as smoke drifted, ash dropped from above plus butt ends Dress code not enforced - dining with people that ate with their fingers wearing boxer shorts, vests, flip flops and baseball caps or beachwear - cigarettes and vapes on most tables Not enough staff - big queues at the beach bar and evening bar - the staff that are there are friendly and helpful in the main Food bland and not enough variety - some days food not cooked others over cooked and some days really nice but always very salty evening entertainment did not start until after 9.45 and children ran riot throughout the bar and lounge areas screaming, shouting and running and even causing collisions with those lucky enough to have got a drink from the bar The general toilets stank Reception staff gave out incorrect information and said they would sort issues then did nothing Apparently according to the receptionist on Sat. evening there was NO management present throughout the hotel Booked a morning call on departure day - did get one but not at the correct time The views are stunning WI-fi reliable always hot water no magnifying mirror for makeup or shaving in bathroom and lighting could be better Dirt and in grained grime on tiles in pool small jacuzzi area 5 stars on the side of the hotel but more like 3 star Stayed with Saga and the lounge is not secure - children and non - saga guests constantly helping themselves and using the designated lounge and seating area and smoking in it repeatedly often by the same people every day and night.

PLEASE READ THIS BEFORE BOOKING because this hotel is genuinely NOT giving 5-star or all-inclusive. 😭 I’ve been on plenty of holidays, but I’ve never experienced anything like this. You’re literally paying extra for HALF the things that should already be included, the food selection is terrible, there are barely any allergy labels, and as someone with a nut allergy, having to GUESS what desserts are safe to eat is actually ridiculous. My Muslim friends, honestly, save your money because the amount of pork is insane and the food variety is so limited. The toilets smell absolutely disgusting and clearly aren’t being cleaned properly. The entertainment was AMAZING, but why are performers being given practically an empty space with no stage, no lights and a tiny dressing room that looks like a cupboard?! The hotel is MASSIVE, yet it feels understaffed and completely lacking in facilities. And don't even get me started on the staff's treatment of my family. As a Black, mixed-race woman, I genuinely felt like my family and I were being treated differently, because staff would prioritise white guests, serve them first and clear their tables while seemingly ignoring us. What made it even more uncomfortable was noticing that when I sat alone, staff were much quicker to approach me, but when I was sitting with my family, suddenly we were waiting FOREVER. I'm not going to pretend I know what was going through their minds, but the difference in treatment was noticeable and deeply upsetting. The other guests were lovely, and the entertainment team deserves their flowers, but let's be SO serious: a massive building, pretty surroundings and good entertainment do NOT make up for poor service, questionable cleanliness, extra charges and an experience that left us feeling unwelcome. This hotel has SO much potential, but the management seriously needs to get it together because this was NOT the luxury all-inclusive holiday we paid for. Save your money and do your research before booking.

This is not a 5* hotel ,the shower was terrible, there were no full length mirror in the room, the fridge was warmer than the room but if you want anything in your fridge you have to pay even though it’s all inclusive, the toilets smelt really bad and the rooms were tired and needed updating even though we was upgraded the rooms were tatty. There was a lot on the drinks menu and the pool bar menu that wasn’t included in the all inclusive. Having said that the positive side is the staff are lovely, really helpful and the pool and summoners are lovely.
