Catalonia Punta del Rey

Room was very spacious. Beds were super comfy. Very clean. Fresh towels everyday. Staff were lovely, friendly and helpful. Food was always good. Amazing amount of choices. The only downside was that it felt a little bit like eating in a canteen. Some guests didn't seem to change from casual and beachwear, even for dinner. The bar area was a very overcrowded at times, with very loud people. The premium, adults only area was lovely. Very relaxing. Very clean and well kept. The solarium area could be lovely. Position excellent but however it was dirty. Unkempt. Toilets were without toilet paper in the gents and in the ladies the lights did not work. We only stayed for 5 minutes. The Toscana restaurant was a mixed experience. The food was excellent but the atmosphere was lacking. The room did not match the quality of the food. The shows were fantastic every night and the animation team were brilliant.

Very disappointing experience – definitely not worth the price Unfortunately, our stay at Catalonia Punta del Rey was very disappointing, especially considering that we paid extra for a Premium Room. The room was extremely old and, in our opinion, actually worse than a standard room. We paid more expecting a better quality room, but unfortunately we did not feel that the Premium upgrade was worth it at all. The food was acceptable during the first three days, but after that the quality became very poor. There was also very little variety that we actually enjoyed. The drinks were another major disappointment. The soft drinks and other drinks available through the all-inclusive package were of very poor quality. We were also only given water in the room on the day we arrived. After that, no water was provided in the room for the rest of our stay. The swimming pool was very small for a hotel of this size, and overall the facilities did not feel like what we expected from a 4-star all-inclusive hotel. For the amount of money we paid, including the additional cost for a Premium Room, we expected a much higher standard of accommodation, food and service. Unfortunately, we left feeling that the holiday was not good value for money. We would not choose this hotel again and would not recommend paying extra for a Premium Room.

We really enjoyed punta del Rey it was a great 10 day holiday and would definitely recommend it to families or couples especially student couples with the lively atmosphere and entertainment. I shall list the things we feel need to be improved and then the what we feel Punta Del Rey did really well. Things that we weren't keen on. 1.) we felt the animation team didn't suit our personality they spoke to us once on the first day, but we declined to play the game so they avoided us for the remaining 10 days, where as other hotels tend to go around everyone to make new guests feel welcome. They also stick to there regulars and people they know well often people who of similar age to them. Was probably the least favourite part the entertainment and games were often loud as well which didn't suit us at all. 2.) our arrival just got told where our room was and had to go back later for more information. 3.) some areas of the hotel were a bit dated. 4.) have to get a 30 minute bus or a 20 minute taxi to the south where all the shops and bars are as well as day trip places. Not really much to do near the hotel in all honesty which is fine for us but some people like sites and things to do occasionally outside the resort. 5.) in our room we had no fridge no kettle and it was a rare experience to here that the safe would cost 18 euros a week plus a 10 euro deposit so we didn't bother. Nice enough room bit of a shock if your used to extras haha 🤣 Things we enjoyed and credit the hotel for. 1.) cleanliness everywhere was clean and constantly got site of the hotel being cleaned as well as our room getting cleaned daily so long as we were out the room before 11 in the morning for a bit. However if you miss the deadline reception will always give you some fresh towels or toilet paper if asked. 2.) the food was fantastic they even do a mexican and Chinese themed night every week didn't have any stomach issues. 3.) they have 4 different bars so a very rare experience and a great one. Sports bar, show bar, pool bar and a downstairs main bar near reception for people who like a quieter night and a game of cards ect. Bars are open late for people who enjoy the late finishes but all inclusive finishes at 11 in all bars. 4.) the staff in general were very good other than the animation team, but I won't hammer that any more. 5.) the weather - 10 days rained about 1.5 days and never dropped below 22 degrees the whole time in the day often averaging 25-27 degrees. I would give this hotel 3-4 stars but closer to 4, if your on a budget and want a nice holiday definitely worthwhile if you want a quieter holiday and extras like premium drinks and a fully loaded room maybe not!

Good aspects including food and entertainment. Premium rooms are nice when air con working. Improvements needed with quality of soft drinks(need branded), adults infinity pool has dirty glass so view of sea is blocked. Very little effort by hotel could remedy this. Also the adults pool closes at 5pm just when people are relaxing and for cost of an additional hour of a lifeguard would feel like an instant improvement. Management not visible and good management usually are, wanting to interact with guests to continually improve facilities and service. Staff generally very pleasant and hotel clean but in need of update in some areas. We paid good price so overall felt value for money

Good Food very good I think unfair reviews saying it is not, as compared to many other All Inclusive hotels there is good choice and quality Entertainment is overall, actually entertaining. Typical hotel entertainment but a choice every night and mostly enjoyable Premium rooms overall comfortable Cleaning of hotel and rooms very good Reception staff generally helpful Adult only pool nice temperature and easy access into the pool Aqua aerobics fun - daily Fridge, Tea and coffee facilities, cava, water etc in premium rooms Nice walk along seafront or cheap taxi (7€) to little nearby town with lovely church and ice creams Nice mini bus trip around north of the island Areas for improvement Our first room had inter connecting door to another room and had to move due to TV noise etc of neighbour (probably should only be used for friends and family).New room we moved into air con not working!! 2 days of saying fixed by maintenance - was not !! Old unit and giving out nothing apart from noise, so couple of hot uncomfortable nights unfortunately. Final room no noise and air con excellent (newer unit) Large general pool bit worn with broken umbrellas etc. Ours flew off terrace into pool on a windy day as not properly secure (screw missing) Management of hotel only seen in restaurant eating - no interaction with guests or checking how people finding hotel. Overall lots of areas need bit of maintenance (our first room only one wardrobe door and patio door lock broken, second room air con not working, third room hand towel holder broken). So lack of management audit/oversight of details that stop hotel being as good as could be Lots of returning guests can feel bit like a Club of people who’ve been numerous times Overall we’ve had a nice time for a good price but think small and easy attention. to details would be a real improvement
