FERGUS Puerto de la Cruz

Review Rating: 2/5 Our stay at the FERGUS Puerto de la Cruz was highly disappointing. From the stressful arrival to the poor food quality, tiny rooms, and misleading information, this hotel failed to meet basic 4-star expectations. We would not recommend staying here. A Miserable Night Arrival Our journey started on a rough note. After landing in Tenerife at 22:30, an incredibly slow airport security process and a delayed coach resulted in a 2-hour transfer. We did not arrive at the hotel until 02:00. Despite having traveled for 8 hours without a proper meal, we found the hotel completely locked down. Everything was closed, and there was absolutely no food, snacks, or bar service available for late-arriving guests. Terrible Food, No Halal Options, and Poor Hygiene The food was easily the worst part of our stay, Awful Breakfast: The breakfast selection was unappetizing and bizarre, featuring soggy scrambled eggs, beef burger patties, ham chunks, and rock-hard croissants. It was so bad that I skipped breakfast entirely after the first day and ate Pot Noodles instead. Zero Halal Accommodations: There are no halal options. The kitchen cross-contaminates or intentionally throws bacon into almost everything, including the scrambled eggs, burger buns, and even the chickpeas. Hygiene and Staff Attitude: My husband found a large black hair in the chicken doner meat. When he brought it to a staff member's attention, they gave him a dirty look, snatched the plate away, and did not offer a single word of apology. Cramped, Dated, and Dirty Rooms The accommodations were well below standard Size and Amenities The room was incredibly small, and the mini-fridge was completely empty. The Bathroom: Highly outdated and dirty. It featured a tiny bathtub with an old shower head and a cheap plastic curtain that failed to stop water from flooding the floor.Lack of Cleanliness and Privacy: The floor under the bed was caked in thick dust and filth. To make matters worse, housekeeping staff would walk into the room at any time, completely ignoring the fact that we had not put out a sign asking for service. Misleading All-Inclusive Drink Package If you book through Jet2, beware of the drinks policy. The booking page states that drinks are included everywhere except for the Pool Bar Teide. However, this is highly misleading. In the other two bars, only a select few drinks are actually free on the All-Inclusive plan. A large portion of the drink menu requires a hefty extra cash charge per drink. Service and Verdict The staff here are completely unmemorable. There is no positive energy or welcoming vibe anywhere in the resort. Between the subpar food, misleading drink inclusions, and poor room maintenance, I find it hard to recommend this hotel.

We chose to stay at Fergus Hotel for our recent 12 night holiday and weren't disappointed. The staff had the foresight to give us three rooms next door to each other on the fifth floor overlooking the pool and road but with a lovely view of the mountains. Rooms were bright and well furnished but to be fair the bathroom could have done with a bit of a refurbishment. We also discovered that there are no facilities in the rooms to make hot drinks and the hotel charges 12 euros to hire one. Parking is also problematic so beware if you hire a car the parking charge in the car park is 15 euros a day. All in all we found the hotel to be very good. The staff are excellent and very hard working. The swimming pools are clean with plenty of loungers and parasols. The pool bars stock plenty of drinks and snacks at reasonable prices if you are not on the all inclusive option. The food in the restaurant was very nice and there was a different theme every day. Chefs made sure that everything was replenished at busy times. the hotel is located some distance from the seafront but it is an easy stroll down with the new shopping mall aprox 10 minutes away on on foot. You can have a good day out down in the town with plenty of shops, bars and cafes to suit all tastes. If you don't fancy walking back up a local taxi is very cheap. We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely consider checking into the Fergus again should be chose to visit Puerto de la Cruz.

We had an amazing holiday. The hotel was in a perfect location which was easy to get to the beach, shopping centre and city centre. The rooms were perfect, with lots of space and a lovely modern-looking bathroom with a rainfall shower. We weren’t ready to leave and both my partner and I said that we hit the jackpot with this hotel. We spent hours by the main pool and enjoyed the care free atmosphere with live music and plenty of activities. We particularly enjoyed karaoke, bingo and cocktail games. There was no racing to get a sunbed as there were plenty to go around. Pool was a nice cool temperature. The all inclusive package exceeded our expectations, we had international cocktails, alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks with two snack bars per day. We definitely made the most of the all inclusive. We couldn’t fault the staff working throughout meal times, they ensured tables were clean and that we were enjoying ourselves. The location again was perfect for excursions, there was a lovely lady who helped us book the teide at night and loro parque excursions, making sure that all our questions were answered. It was very reasonably priced for all the fun that you would have at both excursions, (dinner was included on the teide at night excursion😉). Thank you to everyone; the housekeeping staff who ensured we had enough towels and that our beds were made each morning, the catering staff, the activities staff and the reception staff. We had a great holiday and will be back 😁.

Lovely hotel, the service here is second to none. The staff work incredibly hard (Theo, Alba, Michael, Sebastian - hope I have spelled these correctly!) and really make the hotel what it is. Everywhere was spotlessly clean, plenty of beds each day - you can’t put towels down until 8.30am which is great but you could come down at midday and still have plenty of choice. Food and the drinks were great - my only negative point would be that the food could be hotter, very often it was luke warm. I know it’s hard catering for hundreds, maybe they could use heated trays with lids like we have seen in most hotels to keep everything hot. That aside there was plenty of choice for breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks and everything was lovely. We enjoyed probably a bit too much ☺️ The animation team (Bruna, Esther & Ayoub) were fantastic, not pushy at all, there is always something to join in with if you want to participate. The show they put on in the evening was great, probably the best we saw during our 2 week stay. Location is great as it is nice and quiet but you are only a 10 minute walk down to the front (it is quicker to take the steps to the right of the hotel than walk down the hill). Food & drink is very cheap out if you fancy a change one evening. We also went to the Lido on the front which is huge! €7 to get in, you can take things with you if you like but again, food and drink there was so reasonable. We had a fantastic time here, this is a great hotel and would highly recommend.

Was worried hotel near busy road, bit do not worry..... You barely notice it. Gorgeous planting around hotel and fabulous staff made our stay excellent. Two pools, one quieter than the other Wide choice of food, to please even the fussiest of eaters. Previous reviews stated food bland or too spiced. Ridiculous as if not to your taste there's plenty of options..... cheese, fruit, bread, pasta, potatoes, chips, pizza, salads, and veg even if you don't like any main dishes, but I loved it all, and plenty of choice of fish, seafood, meat, poultry. Catering for hundreds, it's not going to be fine dining, bit If you don't like the food here you need to get a life. All inclusive drinks were all good, thought I'd need to buy wine but it was perfectly ok. If not there's shops nearby selling amazing wine for 1/4 UK price
