The location of this hotel is excellent, close to bars, shops and Del Duque Beach. The hotel looks impressive, and the facilities appear to be very good. However, unfortunately, I wouldn’t agree that it deserves a 5-star rating. On arrival, we were shown to our room, only to be greeted by a cockroach party in the en suite! After dealing with this, we immediately requested to be moved. The balcony also overlooked the main road and a pile of bins, which wasn’t ideal. Reception advised that they couldn’t move us that evening (around 10 pm); but asked us to return in the morning. We eventually moved rooms at 4 pm the following day, which I feel spoiled our first day as we didn’t really get settled until then. Our new room had a much nicer outlook over the gardens and, thankfully, no cockroach welcoming party. However, it quickly became apparent that the room hadn’t been used for some time. Neither TV worked, the safe battery was low, the bedside USB charging ports didn’t work, and we soon discovered a little gathering of ants. The TV and safe issues were dealt with promptly, but I don’t feel we should have had to report such basic problems in a hotel of this supposed standard. Housekeeping came to inspect the ants, by which point I had already been to the supermarket to buy insect spray. We were told the room would receive a deep clean, but the next clean appeared to be just the usual routine service. Unfortunately, the bedside USB ports were never fixed, despite the hotel following up on the issue. The rest of our stay was pleasant. The hotel was busy, and the breakfast selection was good, clean and plentiful. However, the breakfast hall can be extremely busy and noisy, which made the experience a little chaotic. We only saw one evening entertainment show, the Disney show, which, I have to say, lacked atmosphere. We enjoyed spending time at the quieter pool, and our children loved the surfing zone and slides. There was, however, quite a lot of maintenance work taking place around the hotel, which we hadn’t been advised about beforehand. This included the main access to the play park being closed off, painting work around the hotel and roof maintenance. Sunbed claiming is an issue, at the top pool however I didn’t experience or see this at the bottom pool. The adults-only bar and rooftop pool are fantastic additions, and we really enjoyed spending time there. All bar services we used were great, and a good choice. Overall, we did enjoy our break, and the hotel has plenty going for it, particularly its location, facilities and pool areas. However, I feel it falls short in several areas, including room maintenance, cleanliness and entertainment. The initial room issues and the delay in moving us also took away from the start of our holiday. Some of the entertainment and atmosphere may come down to personal preference, but for a hotel presenting itself as 5star, I expected a much higher standard of room cleanliness, upkeep and attention to detail. Unfortunately, based on our experience, I don’t feel the hotel deserves its 5-star rating - hence the 3 star review.
Hotel is absolutely lovely rooms were clean and freshened up every day. Food was great something different every day and the staff were amazing warm and friendly always willing to help if you needed it. Such a lovely relaxing Holiday. And it was are second time there as well
First stay at GF Victoria and would definently recommend. We visited as a family of four with two young kids (8 and 5) and our friends who also had an 8 year old. We had such a good time! The rooms are probably the best ive stayed in size and layout wise, gorgeous large balconies and two bathrooms! We often feel cramped in hotel rooms as a family of four but this was amazing. It was such a nice touch to have a complimentary beach bag, flip flops and box of chocolates on arrival to the room. Also a lovely touch to provide sweet cones to the kids on Halloween and daily chocolates, plus lots of cartons of water. Our maid was fantastic, the room was super clean and we never saw any cockroaches like other reviews say. The pool area is lovely, lots going on for kids and felt quite chilled for adults too. Shout out to Tomas who served us drinks a few times round the pool and was lovely. Also shout out to the man who ran the water spin class in the pool, he was so funny, it was hilarious! The slides were ok but nothing special. Breakfast was great, lots of choice and proper English bacon and sausages! Adults only rooftop bar with glass infinity pool - out of this world! Loved a couple of trips up here! Overall we felt this hotel was fab, location was ideal close by to everything such as restaurants, shops, beaches etc. We would love to return one day!
Very let down by over all experience. One member of the front door staff was very rude and disrespectful to my younger brother. Cockroaches found in drawer and bathroom floor and wave machine / slides not opened for the entire time we were there. Definitely not a 5 star experience.
An amazing hotel if you like Pringles and vinegar! The hotel itself is stunning, with beautiful pools, spotless rooms and a fantastic breakfast. Unfortunately, the bar experience left a rather sour taste (quite literally). Overnight, they changed the house rosé to something so disgusting I nearly spat it out. I asked if I could buy a glass of the pale rosé (Minuty), only to be told it was available by the bottle only. Initially, I assumed the bottle must have cost €60+, but it turned out to be just €33. Had I known, I’d happily have bought one, even if I only wanted two glasses. After around 15 minutes of the lovely lady in reception pleading with the bar manager (airan) , he still refused. He was so rude with it and rude to her also. Apparently, selling a bottle to a willing customer and providing decent customer service were simply out of the question. You’d think a hotel of this standard might allow a little common sense, especially when it would have made them more money! As for the bar snacks, your options are limited to Pringles. Nothing says luxury quite like a premium hotel serving the world’s most ultra processed crisps alongside rose wine that tastes like vinegar. The evening entertainment was another disappointment. Every show seemed to involve acrobats performing tricks while seemingly expecting applause every five seconds. Perhaps we’re just missing something, but it wasn’t exactly our idea of an entertaining evening. Breakfast, on the other hand, was amazing, although the sheer size of it and the constant clattering of plates made it feel a little more chaotic than relaxing. The rooms were clean, and the pools were fantastic. I can’t comment on the kids’ club, as my five- and seven-year-old weren’t interested in going. Overall, a beautiful hotel let down by some questionable decisions, limited bar offerings and, in our experience, an incredibly unhelpful bar manager. It’s a real shame because the hotel has so much going for it. My advice? Bring your own wine and snacks for the evenings, or make plans to spend them elsewhere. You shouldn’t have to fight for 15 minutes just to buy a glass of decent rosé at a hotel of this standard. Also be aware the height requirement for all 4 slides, the higher bit of the treehouse ans the surfing is 120cm. Also I’d suggest emailing ahead of arrival, I did and was grateful of the poolside view on the 4th floor, although a window pane would have been preferred like most the others did have so we could see the pools when sitting down!
