Gran Tacande Costa Adeje

Recently stayed 11 nights at the Gran Tacande. The hotel’s location is fantastic, close to the beach and restaurants in Adeje. The staff are mostly very pleasant and approachable. The pool areas are nice and reasonably well maintained. The rooftop bar is gorgeous. I had a few small issues with the hotel that prevented it from feeling like a full 5* experience. I was stayed with my grandparents, and due to their mobility issues they requested (months in advance) and paid for a suite in the Casa Fuerte area of the hotel to be close to the restaurant and pool. On arrival we found we were in the back of the hotel, facing the GF Victoria, and when we requested to move were told the hotel was full. We had a few strange issues with house keeping, often they’d remove our bathrobes from the room for no apparent reason and not replace them meaning we had to ask reception for new ones. They also took days to remove an ever increasing amount of empty drinks glasses from our room, including half eaten food we’d ordered. The air conditioning stopped working a few times, as did our key cards. All small issues but not in keeping with the £ the hotel charges. The suite itself was nice and spacious, but as with many other reviewers we can’t understand the appeal of the bath in the middle of the room, a small shower and a toilet room with very little privacy. My final complaint is more a suggestion. Whilst I understand the hotel isn’t Adult’s Only, I found that the infinity pool and hydrotherapy pool were absolutely overloaded with children at all times of the day, despite their being a children-specific pool and a large, main swimming pool. Me and my partner wanted to relax on the sun loungers in the heated hydrotherapy pool, which appear extremely relaxing in all hotels advertising - however every day it was filled with 20+ children. Moreover, the hydrotherapy pool was closed, drained, and refilled at least twice on our visit which I can only assume was due to little accidents in the pool. Again, I realise this is a family friendly hotel, but perhaps this area could be kept as adults only, as the sheer volume of children prevented what was advertised as a relaxing pool area being used every day of the trip. Just a suggestion. Especially as there is an enormous main pool nearby. Ultimately, I wouldn’t stay again. I feel there are hotels that are much less expensive that feel, well, more expensive. I think the hotel doesn’t know who to cater to, at the expense of the adult majority, but maybe next time we should book an adults only hotel! But the hotel does suffer from feeling slightly dated, with bizarre room layout and not enough positives to justify the enormous bill at the end of the week. We had a nice holiday, but one likely not to be repeated at the Tacande.

Last year we stayed at Boab suites and wanted to try a different hotel this year closer to the action. The hotel is in a fantastic location and is within walking distance of all the restaurants and bars. In my opinion the hotel is not 5 star, more like a 4 star plus . It is looking a bit dated and could do with a revamp, especially in the rooms . We stayed in a deluxe room but we hated the layout, bath in the middle of the room and the bathroom and shower are also in the room. It is not segregated and the toilet has a saloon type door and is made of glass . So you have zero privacy - never seen this layout before and was totally bemused as to why you would plan it this way. It could be just me but judging by how packed the communal toilets were- most people thought the same . Breakfast is nice and they have an amazing rooftop bar. Service was hot and miss, check in was underwhelming and nobody asked us how our stay had been and sometimes you were waiting a long time for drinks . They also got our bill wrong at checkout and €47 of drinks we hadn’t ordered were added to the bill but removed after querying . If you ‘re not bother about privacy and you don’t mind the hotel being a bit dated then I would give it a go but based on the room layout alone . We would not return but had a great holiday .

This is our 4th time here we hoped they had updated pool beds abd umbrellas but still same so won't come back

Coming here for many years, never fails to disappoint.Great service from all staff mentioning Daniel in reception for sorting our room, Matias at the pool for his attention and friendliness. Also Vicky at breakfast and dinner and Oliver and Ruth for help for making our friend’s birthday celebration memorable Its a great hotel and good service. You will not be disappointed if you stay here. Already looking forward to our return. .

Don’t hesitate to book. I visited with my wife and daughter (15) for 9 nights in August. It’s a fabulous hotel with excellent service from all the staff. The location is fantastic with a short walk to lots of restaurants and the beach. The room was comfortable for the 3 of us. Plenty of space for hanging clothes. The balcony was a good size and we enjoyed the side ocean view. Breakfast was lovely and waiting staff very attentive. Always seated quickly and a variety of food on offer. Tables cleared in double quick time. Always plenty of sunbeds to choose from around the pools. You still get the guests who put towels down early but we never failed to find 3 beds. The outdoor jacuzzi pool is just outstanding. Pools were never overly busy. There are a 2 supermarkets on the door step for ease of use. I’ve stayed at GF Victoria and Anthelia. Gran Tacande is definitely as good as both these hotels. In fact, when I return to Costa Adeje, I’d probably pick the Gran Tacande. Del Duque itself is a lovely area. Spotlessly clean and some brilliant walks. I’d definitely recommend this hotel.
