What a fantastic hotel this is. My 2nd visit for 10 nights AI. I’ve stayed in a lot of 4/5 star AI’s and for me this is the best for food by miles. Each to their own but I honestly can’t see how anyone could complain about it. Several fresh cooked meats, pizza, sushi, salad, fruit, the freshest bread I’ve ever had at AI, amazing desserts, cheeses, seafood, fish, the list is endless. Only one night was ‘average’ in terms of choice for me and I still had amazing fresh pizza. Eden and lagoon pool are awesome. Plenty of beds and people are coming and going all the time so if there’s no bed at noon then there will likely be one an hour later. The vibe is great. I do think the pool DJ’s need to read the room/pool a bit more. It’s mostly loud, banging techno music (nothing at all rocky about it). Then twice in 10 days they’ll put on a song that will have everyone around the pool singing or foot-tapping and then the next song is back to loud techno. You can see clients around the pool visibly gutted. Why not play music that covers all demographics or alternate? It’s a shame because once the DJ’s leave the hotel soundtrack comes back on and there’s a collective sigh of relief. Can’t say there were any miserable staff - they were all fantastic. There were some standouts - Georgie who seemed to be everywhere, Javier at the Balis, Daniel-Jay at Lagoon and Fabian in UTC. He makes a mean Bohemian 😉 Talking of the Balis we couldn’t understand why they just didn’t charge 30/40€ a day and have them booked out rather than leaving most of them empty because 75€ is a lot when it includes a drink you don’t particularly want. Please move or turn off the arcade machines on the terrace during live acts. It’s so distracting and insulting to the acts. A few things that are niggles because they’re so petty and feel like they’re designed to annoy guests for no apparent reason: Can’t have cocktails in the beach club unless you pay. Despite the fact I can walk 20 paces to the bar and get the same one for free in my AI. Pointlessly petty. The same if you rent a Bali bed. You can swap the sangria for 4 cocktails. Not the signature ones, just the ones available on AI. Pointlessly petty when the book cost is cheaper. Drinks in the room fridge apparently cannot be swapped. They supply full sugar coke and still water. Can we perhaps have Coke Zero and sparkling water or one of each? Nope. So you just bring them up from the bar. Deliberately awkward. All that aside it’s an amazing hotel and we’ll definitely be back. If the niggles were sorted it would be 10/10 for us.
Great hotel and rooms, good live music, but the bands duplicated a number of songs. You would hear the same song by different bands consecutive nights. Some playlist planning would stop this. The pool music was predominately drum and bass, odd for a Hard Rock Hotel!
