Riu Palace Tenerife

Good Hotel, but Definitely Not 5-Star The location is probably the hotel’s biggest selling point. It’s great for short walks along the coast and is far enough away from the hustle and bustle of central Adeje, which makes for a more peaceful stay. Rooms lacked amenities, no bottled water was provided unless purchased from the minibar at usual high hotel prices. I’d agree with some of the other reviews that the hotel seems to cater more towards an older clientele so it may not be the best choice if you’re looking for a livelier atmosphere. The food was average, reasonable choice but not great in quality. The waiter service was okay, although the buffet area got extremely busy at times. That said, this is perhaps to be expected in a hotel of this size. The pools are surprisingly small for such a large hotel, and the poolside waiter service was very slow. On one occasion, we ended up going to the pool bar ourselves, only to be told to return to our sunbeds and wait for someone to come over and take our order. Not exactly great service. Another downside was the noise in the mornings. We were woken up around 7 am every day by staff moving trolleys up and down the corridors outside our room. On top of that, the gardeners seemed to mow the lawns around 10:30 am, just as we were settling down by the pool. Overall, it’s a decent hotel with a great location, but it falls short of the luxury experience you’d expect from a 5-star property. There are positives, but the average food, small pools, slow service and early-morning noise let it down. In my opinion, it’s a good hotel, but certainly not the 5-star Platinum experience it’s advertised as.

We cannot recommend this hotel enough. We visited in 2013 and decided to go back again. We weren’t disappointed. From the moment we arrived we were looked after. The staff couldn’t do enough for us. Our room which was on the 2nd floor (219) and came with a partial sea view. It was spacious and quiet. We had the sun almost all day on our balcony. The beds were firm and very comfortable. It was a spacious bathroom and enormous shower. A few more electrical sockets would be nice but we managed ok. Bathrobes were a lovely addition. Cleaning was done to a very good standard. The breakfasts and evening meals were fantastic. My partner is vegetarian and had so much choice as did I. We ate outside every morning and evening. The staff couldn’t have been more helpful. All in all we had a fabulous week at the Riu Palace and it will definitely be our go to hotel in Tenerife. Thank you to all the staff, see you next year 😎

A brilliant hotel. The staff are superb. We are at the hotel now. The food is good always something to have . Jean T was stop on regarding rooms. I read her review so it emailed ahead but was told that all sea view or partial sea rooms were booked but to our relief we were booked on the eighth floor so we had a partial sea view. I’ll add the rest when I return. If you have booked you will have a great time

This was our third time this year it never fails to impress. The food was delicious only one thing I would like to see are English Sausage for breakfast Dinner was great lots of choices the staff in the restaurants are great really attentive Bar staff are friendly and nothing is any trouble Pool area d gardens are really well kept Just a few minor points 1 people vaping around the pool even though there is a huge designated area 2 Adults without children using the kiddie pool to sunbathe I saw quite a lot Of parents not been able to get round the pool 3 I saw a couple with 8 towels 4 The beach are is looking a little sad the membrane is showing through the sand The beds are a bit jaded The parasols could do with a it of maintenance Will .i returned yes in a heartbeat

First time at this hotel, we had wanted to stay here since we saw it on a walk along the seafront on a previous holiday. Rooms were fine, food great. Didn't feel the need to use the speciality restaurants, we were perfectly happy with what was on offer if the main buffet restaurant. Pools were large and warm. Lots of sunloungers, always available even arriving at midday. Umbrellas were available with every pair of beds and there was shady spots under trees too. Separate smoking area too which was much appreciated. The beach was accessible in front of the gardens, accessible via a secure gate. Free safe was a nice touch. Tea and coffee making facilities in the room plus a fridge. Nightime entertainment was very good. Didn't see much during the day round the pool. No volleyball, shooting etc, which didn't bother me. Bus stop 5-10 minutes walk that will take you into La Caleta or Playa de las Americas. Purpose built shower rooms for freshening up before leaving, rather than using a spare bedroom. Cons. It is located on the edge of the resort so there if you wanted a supermarket or restaurant, it was a 10-15 minute walk. No big deal for us. A few more UK TV channels would be nice. Lots of German, French and even Italian channels but only a couple of English speaking news channels. As with most hotels, I find the food labelling a little difficult to determine. As a vegetarian, I wish they could be clearer. As it is on the edge of the resort you will usually be the last to be dropped off/first pick up. Maybe consider paying extra for a private transfer. It is advertised as 5 star, but in all honesty and not to detract from this hotel, I have stayed at 4 star and found them to be a similar standard. Only obvious difference I could see was the padded mats on the sunloungers. I would definitely stay here again.
