Family trip HB. We really liked this hotel 4 A & 3 C. Age 10+. Checkin was easy, all staff are at hotel lovely. The kids loved the activities and enjoyed the pool. The pool Area is small but for a week stay we didn’t mind. We loved the location short walk to the promenade. 5 mins walk to market. Bring your own mug if you like coffee at breakfast. Also bring a water bottle to refill. Hire the towels(free) at reception but bring (clips/pegs) to recognise your sunbed. We found a varied breakfast and dinner (theme) something for everyone. Sunday roast especially good. And seafood night was yum. The free wine/beer was average but it’s free! You have option to purchase €19. Most HB don’t offer this. We also loved the rooms and the sofa bed was very comfortable. Overall would return

1/5 – Extremely Disappointing All-Inclusive Holiday – Poor Food, Dirty Crockery and Unacceptable Hygiene Standards We stayed at Sol Arona Tenerife expecting a relaxing family holiday and a good all-inclusive experience. Unfortunately, our stay was extremely disappointing. There were problems with almost every aspect of our holiday, and we would never choose this hotel again. 1. Constant and unacceptable restaurant queues One of the biggest problems throughout our stay was the constant queues for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Guests were regularly left waiting outside the restaurant just to get inside and eat. We paid for an all-inclusive holiday, yet spent a considerable amount of our valuable holiday time standing in queues for food we had already paid for. We even had to worry about missing excursions because of the time spent waiting for breakfast. This is not what anyone expects from an all-inclusive hotel. Guests come on holiday to relax, not to spend hours waiting to enter a restaurant. 2. Very poor food quality The quality of the food was extremely disappointing, particularly at breakfast. Much of the food looked unappetising and appeared to be of very poor quality. For example, the baked beans in tomato sauce tasted sour and unpleasant. Other food also looked unappealing, and some dishes gave the impression that they were not fresh. The overall standard of the food was far below what we expected from an all-inclusive hotel. Having a large selection of food means very little if the quality is so poor. 3. Dirty plates, bowls and drinking glasses The hygiene standards in the restaurant were particularly concerning. I repeatedly found plates and bowls in the supposedly clean crockery area with visible food residue, stains and dirty marks. The drinking glasses were also in a very poor condition. Some had cloudy residue, white marks and visible deposits inside. They looked poorly washed and certainly did not look clean enough to be served to guests. I took photographs of the dirty plates and glasses as evidence. Guests should never have to inspect their plates, bowls and glasses before using them. Clean crockery and drinking glasses are basic hygiene requirements, not an optional extra. 4. Unbearable chemical smell – impossible to enjoy a meal One of the worst things about this restaurant is the extremely strong and unpleasant chemical smell. As soon as you walk into the restaurant, you are hit by a powerful smell that makes you feel sick and nauseous. It is so unpleasant that you struggle to sit down and eat. Instead of smelling freshly prepared food, as you would expect in a restaurant, all you can smell is a strong chemical odour. It genuinely makes you feel like you are going to vomit. I cannot say exactly what is causing this smell, whether it is cleaning chemicals, disinfectants or something else, but it is completely unacceptable in a dining area. A restaurant should smell of food, not chemicals. Guests should be able to enter, sit down and enjoy their meals without feeling physically sick. 5. Very poor housekeeping and room cleanliness Unfortunately, the cleanliness of our room was also disappointing. After housekeeping, we found dirty marks on the table, debris on the floor and hair left near the skirting boards. The room clearly had not been cleaned properly. I took photographs of these problems as well. Basic housekeeping should be the minimum standard expected from any hotel. 6. Promises without meaningful improvements We raised these concerns during our stay and provided photographic evidence. Although apologies were made and assurances were given that the hotel management would investigate, the problems continued. What was particularly frustrating was the hotel’s response regarding the restaurant queues. Despite the photographs showing guests waiting outside the restaurant, the hotel claimed that waiting times were generally only 5–10 minutes and that no significant queues had been observed. This does not reflect our actual experience as guests. It is extremely disappointing when guests provide photographic evidence and feel that their concerns are being dismissed rather than properly addressed. Overall experience This holiday was supposed to be a relaxing family break. Instead, it became a very disappointing experience involving constant queues, poor-quality food, dirty plates and glasses, an unbearable chemical smell and inadequate housekeeping. The combination of these problems seriously affected our enjoyment of the holiday. I will be attaching photographs to this review to show the actual conditions we experienced. I believe future guests deserve to know what to expect before booking this hotel. Unfortunately, based on our experience, we would not recommend Sol Arona Tenerife to anyone looking for a comfortable, clean and enjoyable all-inclusive family holiday.

Lovely clean hotel, the room was pleasant and cleaned daily. Free safe which was great. Food- plenty of choice. However we often struggled to find a clean plate to eat off or a clean coffee cup in the morning. The wine glasses also weren’t clean. I would expect better from a 4 star hotel. However. If you don’t get to the buffet as soon as it opens- expect queues, kids running around all over the place and extreme noise. In terms of sun beds- it was so over crowded- if you weren’t early enough then you’d have no chance of a sun bed near the pool. Other downside- if you want to have a drink by the pool- you’ll be using a plastic beaker using a token system - again not clean. I’d get a beaker for the day and then take it to my room to wash it as they just weren’t clean. What I did like a lot was the location, close to the airport and close to the beach.
