Vincci Selección La Plantación del Sur

I returned recently to this hotel as I had previously enjoyed it so much. Sadly, this visit didn't quite live up to my expectations and fell short of my past experiences due to a small catalogue of incidents that detracted from my enjoyment. Overall, the hotel is elegant, peaceful and exudes understated luxury. The public rooms are never crowded and everywhere is immaculately clean. RECEPTION The first impression of any hotel is obviously the reception and check in process. It is also the last contact with the hotel and leaves a lasting memory. Unfortunately, on this occasion it was a poor experience. The receptionist was unwelcoming and verging on rude. She barely acknowledged my presence and appeared not to listen to anything I said. She printed a registration form for me to sign completed with all details of someone else. Having emailed the hotel to request a quiet room and emphasising at checkin that my priority was a quiet room I was disappointed to be allocated a ground floor room above a busy road. Additionally, there was noise coming from parking area that appeared to be a generator or machinery. When I checked out the receptionist did not ask if I had enjoyed my stay. ROOM On arrival at the room neither of the key cards functioned. The safety deposit box was not working and the bottles of toiletries were all half empty. There was nowhere to hang dresses in the wardrobes. On the plus side the room and bathroom were spacious and clean. The bed was very comfortable. GUEST RELATIONS I advised guest relations via the hotel app of my disappointment. I was immediately contacted by Segio who could not have been more kind or helpful. He arranged for me to change to a quieter room on a higher floor when it became available the following day. He also arranged for a portable clothes rack to be put in the new room to hang dresses. Whilst the new room was in a quieter location it was far from perfect. There was still considerable road noise. There were building works being carried directly underneath my balcony. Whilst I was assured that there would be no noise before 10:00, the workmen started every day at 08:00. There was a sea view from this room but also a view of wasteland behind the Spar supermarket. Initially, the safe didn't work in this room either. There were other rooms at right angles to this one which meant there was precious little privacy. In fact, I could see right into the facing rooms. There was damage to the door frame and most of the wood in the room appeared to be affected by woodworm. DRINKING WATER I was quite shocked that a five star hotel did not supply complimentary bottles of water. There were bottles available in the minibar but these were chargeable. There was a glass carafe provided in the room for guests to fill from a water dispenser. The nearest dispenser to this room was quite a distance. I felt that guests carrying glass carafes around was a safety issue. BUFFET RESTAURANT Sabrina the restaurant hostess was extremely attentive, professional and cheerful. She always made a point of greeting me and finding me a table in my preferred location. Breakfast offered a vast selection of quality options to suit all tastes. I ate dinner at the hotel on five evenings. Some evenings were very enjoyable and others not so much. Desserts were excellent. GOLDEN BAR Early evening it is a lovely place to sit outside with a drink, watch the sunset and enjoy the live music before dinner. The waitress, Oriana, was friendly and attentive. However, I was disappointed that there was no longer a "cocktail of the day" and cocktails had rocketed in price since my last visit in 2025. After dinner the bar was nearly always empty, lacking atmosphere and uninviting. It gives the mpression that guests are not welcome. It would be more appealing if the lighting were less bright and there was maybe some piano or jazz music instead of the enormous tv screen. POOLS Choice of different pools. Plenty of sunbeds available throughout the day and stacks of clean towels. I particularly enjoyed using he Balinese beds. Efficient waiter service around pool areas. Complimentary smoothies or juices and pieces of melon were offered to guests several times a day although choice and frequency far less than previous visits. The Italian lifeguard was quite rude and appeared primarily to be interested in displaying his muscles and topping up his tan. SPA On arrival at the hotel I was given a voucher to use at the spa. I had planned to make use of it on my last afternoon at the hotel. Sadly, on this day, without prior warning to guests, there was loud noise from the workmen ripping up the decking around the spa pool and the area was closed. When I commented on this to reception I was told that I was mistaken and there was no reason why I couldn't use spa! See attached photo of the building site. SHOP/HAIRDRESSERS Although advertised as being open both of these were often closed in the afternoon. STAFF With the exception of the reception team, who appeared disinterested, I found all other staff to be friendly, professional and welcoming. The housekeeping team worked hard to keep the hotel immaculate. Special mention to Isabel who always found time for a chat when she came to carry out the evening turn down service. Daniel a waiter in the buffet restaurant who was always polite, smiling and attentive. And, of course, a massive shout out to Sergio and Sara the guest relations team. Whenever they were in the hotel they both did everything possible to make the guest experience the best it could be. They make a real difference. Would I book this hotel again? It has many positives but unsure whether I would return.

We’ve just returned from another beautiful stay at Vincci Selección La Plantación del Sur. This was our second time staying at the hotel, and once again, we had a wonderful experience. The ambience is so relaxing, the staff are attentive and welcoming, and everything about the hotel feels high quality. It’s the perfect place to unwind and enjoy a relaxing stay. We’ll definitely be back again! ❤️

We had a fabulous holiday and thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the hotel. The staff were attentive, helpful, friendly, and welcoming, and always made sure guests were well looked after. The breakfast was excellent, the room service was amazing, and our room was always clean and had everything we needed. We have absolutely nothing to complain about and will definitely stay at this hotel again.

We were disappointed with our stay, particularly given the price and the hotel’s five-star rating. There were some positives, but overall it didn’t feel like a five-star experience. The staff were friendly and welcoming, and our room was very spacious. However, the décor felt dated and could do with an update. Food was one of the biggest disappointments. There were very few vegetarian options, and the hot breakfast choices we tried were often watery and cold. The Italian restaurant was much better, and we really enjoyed the food ‘theatre’ and experience there. The bar was another let-down. Cocktails were fairly basic but expensive, and on one evening the music was turned off around two hours before the advertised closing time, which very much gave the impression that guests were being encouraged to leave. There were also some things that became frustrating. Wi-Fi in our room was unreliable, and no bottled water was provided. Instead, there is one filtered water machine per floor. Our room was a long way from it, so if you arrive back late and realise you have forgotten to fill up your water, you have to walk the length of the floor to get some. I appreciate the environmental reasons for reducing bottled water, but one machine per floor doesn’t feel adequate for a large five-star hotel. More refill stations would be a simple solution. The outside bar area is pleasant, but the Christmas-style string lights felt surprisingly tacky and out of keeping with what we expected from a hotel at this level. Overall, there were things we liked, particularly the friendly staff, the size of the room and the Italian restaurant. But for the amount we paid, there were too many areas that fell short. We expected a noticeably higher standard from a five-star hotel and unfortunately didn’t feel that the experience justified the price.

Fantastic hotel, absolutely amazing staff, definitely a five star experience. Stunning views as up a hill. Plenty of choice for breakfast and amazing pool areas. I would definitely stay here again and 100% recommend the hotel
