Riu Negril

Just returned from Riu negril we had a fabulous 2 week holiday .. swimming pools were great especially the quiet pool .. our room was good bed very comfortable and room was cleaned to a high standard every day I had my birthday whilst there and received a birthday card and some fresh fruit delivered to room which I thought was a nice touch .. a special shout out to O’Neill and Reun from the lobby bar .. best barmen in hotel they looked after us very well !! beach was good always plenty of sun loungers The food was good and you can book in the restaurants as many times as you like Entertainment staff were very good .. white party and neon party very good and their pool party was best I’ve seen

Our Best Holiday Yet – Riu Negril 🇯🇲❤️ We honestly cannot praise Riu Negril enough! From the beautiful hotel to the lovely food, we have had the most amazing holiday, and without a doubt, this has been our best holiday yet. However, what has truly made our experience so special is the incredible staff. They have gone above and beyond to make our stay unforgettable, and some of them deserve every bit of recognition they can get. A massive shout-out to the entire entertainment team! You all bring so much energy, happiness and fun to the resort, and you make such a difference to everyone’s holiday. A special mention to a few people who have really stood out to us: ❤️ Shan-Lee – Entertainment Team: Absolutely amazing! We have built such a lovely bond with Shan-Lee, and she has genuinely made our holiday so special. She is such a beautiful person inside and out, and we will miss her so much. She is a real credit to the team! ❤️ Leroy – Lifeguard: An absolute GEM! Such a lovely person who deserves so much appreciation. People like Leroy make a holiday that little bit more special, and we cannot thank him enough for being so wonderful. ❤️ Hercules: Absolutely amazing! Thank you for being such a lovely person and helping make our holiday one to remember. ❤️ Natasha – Sports Bar: Thank you for being so lovely and making our time at the resort even more enjoyable. You deserve recognition for all that you do! ❤️ Peter An. – Sports Bar: Another amazing member of staff who deserves a special mention. Thank you for being part of such a fantastic holiday for us! ❤️ The lovely lady who works at both the Sports Bar and Swim-Up Pool Bar: We are so sorry that we don’t know your name, but we really hope this reaches you! We have built such a lovely bond with you, and you have been such a pleasure to see throughout our stay. Thank you for being you! ❤️ Shantoy – Plaza Bar waitress on the evening shifts: Where do we even begin? Shantoy deserves ALL the praise she can possibly get! She is such an amazing lady, and her kindness and personality have made such a lasting impression on all of us. We have grown so fond of her, and she will genuinely be missed by every single one of us. She is an absolute credit to Riu Negril, and we hope the hotel recognises just how special she is. To every member of staff who has smiled at us, had a conversation with us, made us laugh or simply gone out of their way to make us feel welcome, THANK YOU! You have made us feel so much more than just guests, and it is the people who make a place truly special. We would love for the management team to pass on our thanks and ensure that everyone mentioned receives the recognition they deserve. These members of staff have made such a positive impact on our holiday, and we really want them to know how appreciated they are. Riu Negril is a beautiful hotel, the food has been lovely, and the memories we have made here will stay with us for a long time. In 11 trips to the Caribbean never before have I felt like staff didn’t want us here. Especially female staff, my mum is I. A wheelchair, she’s been given dirty looks, had rude comments, it started with check in. I asked to pay for a room upgrade. The lady checking us in completely dismissed me. I visited the Royalton blue waters on my previous trip to Jamaica and the staff were amazing. It’s such a shame to have such a negative trip this time, where it’s made me feel this will be my last time visiting Jamaica.

The front desk staff and restaurant staff provided my family and I with conflicting information. When we sought clarification from Tamika at the front desk, she showed absolutely no professionalism and she is the front desk assistant manager. That will tell you all there is know about the service here. Thanks to Tamika and the Sports bar staff, my family and I will not be returning. Royalton is by far a better option to book your stay in Negril. Big up to Mario at bar though!

Live review. October 11th 2026 Here now as I’m writing this. The beach is very nice! There are some spots that have algae in the sand but you can see your feet thru the clear water. Just walk around it and you’re fine. There is a lot of sea life which I personally LOVE! We can see pelicans fishing and that’s very cool! We saw starfish, stingrays and all kinds of different fish. Lots of beach chairs. There are people selling things on the beach and they are great! Walk down towards the blue tents, feed the dogs and say hi to the locals and buy souvenirs from them. My wife and I were bringing food for one of the dogs and one young lady. We gave some food to her mom to give to her daughter and when she saw we had more food I told her it was for the dogs but she can have it. She insisted I give it to the dogs. I ended up giving it to her but this just shows the good nature of some people. Now before I go too far let me just mention that my wife and I both tip. The cooks, entertainers, waiting staff are great! Always smiling and offering to help. Entertainment is fun. Rooms and hotel in general are well maintained. Food is ok. Nothing to brag about but quit a bit of variety. Most bartenders is where I have a MAJOR issue. Not all of them but most of them are very rude, unwelcoming and one guy (beach bar, I forgot his name) was, excuse my language but eye-banging my wife right in front of me. I understand a glance but damn it man I’m right there lol. Every time we go get a drink they seem bothered and need to smile. I understand you can have a bad day but every day since we’ve been here they’ve had the face negative attitude. Personally, my wife and I probably won’t be coming back to this hotel because of the bartenders.
