Baobab Sea Lodge

Amazing Hotel and Staff. We had the greatest pleasure in staying with Depesh ( Manager) and his amazing team of staff, from all levels. We have never experienced such a level of happiness and dedication to service as we did here. The hotel was very quiet whilst we were there which suited us perfectly, everyday Depesh checked in with us to ensure we were happy and if we needed anything, he ensured I had fresh milk put in the fridge ready for the following morning's coffee. The barstaff assisted with everything and I would be amiss not to mention Jonathan who greeted us everyday with a warm smile and excellent service. The chefs were kind enough to specially prepare us some authentic Kenyan foods for lunch and evening meals on a couple of occasions as we don't want to eat foid we can have at home and these were delicious ( Recommend if staying here you at least ask for kenyan samosas, chapatti madondo or green grams) Many people complain that the rooms are dark and outdated NOT THE CASE in our opinion, the have beautiful kenyan character and artwork. All in all if u want a beautiful relaxing hotel where the staff will ensure u have a great stay then select the BAOBAB SEA LODGE. We plan on visiting again in 2028

Stayed on site for 2 weeks The hotel is well positioned on the coast with steps directly onto the beach. Turn left and there are beach bars 5-10 minutes walk away. The hotel does need to be refurbished. The rooms are comfortable but would benefit from modern bathrooms and showers. The existing is out of date and can be a bit problematic. As and when they are refurbished the rooms would benefit from more drawers and storage for clothes. So come with spare hangers and some travel cubes to organise clothing, especially for 2 weeks. We went all inclusive as it was reasonable and gave us flexibility without the hassle of counting each drink. The hotel was quiet, which was a shame in some ways, but the staff would come and discuss meal options and prepare something specific to our requests. Nothing was any trouble. The buffet breakfast and evening meal was varied and plentiful. Not always your UK options but eggs were prepared to your order and there was always something to that appealed. The biggest asset the hotel seems to have is the staff. From the barmen to the waiters to the background staff everyone was polite and happy to help. Lots of good byes on our final day. The manager arranged music nights around the pool to break things up a bit which was welcomed. It would be nice to see the hotel busier and able to refurbish some of the dated rooms. Probably a bit of a chicken and egg scenario. For a relaxing and welcoming environment the hotel was great with some fantastic views.

Serene tropical environment with beautiful preserved gardens providing lots of shade. Stayed in a cottage 50m from the sandy beach. Cool season and a constant breeze through our room meant there was no need for the A/C Very large and clean swimming pool. Rather quiet which suited us....and we were upgraded, thanks to the hospitable manager 'Ntelamere" No loud music or late parties and dancing; peaceful like a retreat centre. We were on B&B, which may be advisable, as there didn't seem to be a day menu available. Nearby Kilifi itself, is a well-ordered quietish town, which has been well maintained by the local council. (clan and tidy) Plenty to do at the Kilifi Creek, boat trips, nice restaurant, sandy shores. Fortunately access for the public to the beach has been well preserved so there are many small access roads down to the shore for the locals.

I think Kilifi is a great destination for anyone who loves lush green vegetation, great weather and uncrowded beaches. Once you arrive at Baobab Sea Lodge, you walk through a canopy of mature greenery that immediately makes the place feel cool and serene. For a moment, you could almost forget that you are staying on a beachfront property. The rooms are spacious, clean, well-spaced and practical, with everything you need for a comfortable stay — hot showers, a safe, hairdryer, fan, air conditioning, tea-making facilities and a fridge. Whether you choose a beach or garden view, each room has a balcony with a daybed and some additional seating. Baobab Sea Lodge is set in a very quiet environment, and you are almost guaranteed a peaceful stay. I have had the opportunity to visit many hotels in different geographical locations, from high-end properties to more modest establishments. While BSL may not be the most modern hotel, being an older establishment, there are certain things it does exceptionally well. For me, the biggest highlights are the serenity, quiet and uncrowded beach. The abundance of mature trees helps take the edge off the coastal heat, while the quiet sandy beach, hospitable staff and relaxed atmosphere make the experience even more enjoyable. If you appreciate rustic, natural spaces and prefer peace and tranquillity over crowded, highly commercialised resorts, this could be your spot. Why choose an overcrowded beach destination when Baobab Sea Lodge is still offering this kind of experience? And the food deserves a mention too. From the starter to the dessert, I found the meals to be great. Overall, I believe Baobab Sea Lodge offers good value for money — especially for anyone looking for a quiet, green and genuinely relaxing coastal escape.
