Pinewood Beach Resort & Spa

We had the best experience here from start to finish. It's a very well run hotel. Special welcome and escourted to our room with explanations on the way.The whole place is exceptionally clean and well cared for. The complex is set out very well with many different areas to sit at. There are 3 bars, lounge, pool and beach - with the beach bar being open all day till midnight. Everyone from the ground staff, chefs, house keepers, bar, restaurant etc deserve credit. We were especially cared for by Caleb and Phyllis from the beach bar and restaurant. Eunice and Wycliffe looked after us at breakfast. The plentyfull food is amazing with a fantastic choice catering for all types of eating groups. It is so thoughtful that dinner is served in different places so you don't get fed up eating in the same place. Our room was spacious and I loved the little shelf of books for you. Lovely beach walking with minimal harassment from the locals, who were actually all nice!

The situation is perfect, the meals excellent, but it is the staff who make this little paradise so idyllic. Nothing is too much trouble, so many little extra touches like flowers in our room. Caleb at the beach bar is the Best cocktail waiter, an ultimate professional. We were so sad to leave and intend to return next year.

We had a few days at Pinewood following a week long safari and it was the perfect slice of paradise to relax. The hotel is set in beautiful tropical gardens, we loved sitting and watching the wildlife - like weaver birds at breakfast or the frog choir after dark. The beach is soft white sand down to clear blue sea and it’s pretty quiet as far as the beach boys go. We felt so welcomed by all the staff, especially all the chefs and foh team who we encountered regularly. The food was delicious, especially the Mongolian evening by the pool. If you’re after somewhere more nature focused and peaceful after a safari this is the hotel for you, especially couples.

An oasis at the end of Galu beach on the Indian Ocean. Relaxed atmosphere, no children so calm and tranquil. We booked an ocean front room which had stunning views and was close to the pool, beach and bars. We booked the all inclusive package which included a fabulous choice of home cooked dishes and themed nights. All the food and drinks were delicious. The rooms, grounds and communal areas were immaculate and cleaned daily. Service from all staff was impeccable. They were friendly, helpful and always smiling. We had massages in the spa which were lovely but our only suggestion would be to play some relaxing music as you could hear chatter from around the pool area and people playing table tennis. Also the pool tiling could do with a little repair in places but none of this affected our stay or overall experience. We would definately recommend this hotel for great value and service.

Pinewood met all our expectations and was perfect for us to relax at after a very busy safari itinerary. Our rooms were a good size with seating inside and on the balcony. The air conditioning worked well. Plenty of attentive and helpful staff throughout the hotel. The grounds were beautifully kept and there are extensive fish ponds and some stunning weaver birds plus tortoises to admire. The swimming pool was a good size with loungers all around and there were lots more loungers with shades on the beach where it was nice and cool due to the sea breezes. Unfortunately we couldn’t swim in the sea without reef shoes due to sea urchins but with a swim up bar in the pool why bother anyway! We had the all inclusive package which covered soft drinks, beer, house wine, safari brand spirits and a rather limited number of cocktails. All food was included except for a few specials on the lunch menu for which there was a supplement. The food was good but vegetarian choices a bit limited to curries every night. The evening meals had a different theme each night and some were meant to be poolside (bbq) or beachside (Mongolian buffet). Due to rather windy weather and some rain, all our evening meals were in the main dining room where it did get rather hot and humid with all the cooking stations. The laundry service was very good. There is a small gym by the pool that had a good standard of equipment. I had a Swahili massage at the Spa which was reasonably priced if a little unorthodox. Just next door on the beach there is a Community shop selling handicrafts, do take time to have a look and engage with the “beach boys” who work there. There are strict rules about how close they can come to the resort but once they’ve talked to you they will leave you alone. Pinewood is the last resort on Diani Beach road, towards the end the road is not made up and is uneven and bumpy but tuk tuks can get through if you fancy an excursion to Diani beach and shopping.
