Safari Island Resort

What a special little island. We loved our stay here, we had a semi water bungalow. Stunning room with the wow factor. Clean beach towels provide daily. Tea and coffee in your room again replenished daily. The island is small, quiet but does not lack anything. Super friendly staff who are on hand to assist where they can. The perfect setting to relax and recharge the batteries, while looking at the wildlife. We stayed all inclusive which fitted our requirements and the food was varied and plentiful. I’m allergic to fish and there was loads for me to choose from. We loved it so much, we have booked to return next year.

Safari Island is an Island paradise, white sand, warm azure sea, palm trees etc in the middle (ish) of the Indian ocean. so here is a potted guide: Beach Bungalows: These are on the beach with the sea just outside your door. They have a super-king size bed, fridge, air conditioning, tea & coffee making stuff (no milk, its packet creamer), bathroom with shower (beware it may flood the bathroom when using it). There is a small deck outside with sunbeds. Extras to take with you: Clothes pegs, most bungalows have a washing line but no pegs. Little bottle of washing detergent as laundry can be expensive. Restaurant and Bars: The restaurant is buffet style for each meal, some say the menu is limited but we found it OK, the reef fish served each day is excellent. The palm bar is the only one under cover and is quite comfortable. There are two other bars, the pool bar by the swimming pool and the sunset bar (only open during sunset) Things to take as a must: Plenty of Factor 50 sun cream, the sun can be savage, put it on even when it cloudy. Anthisan bite cream as the mosquitos are nasty. If you sweat a lot, 3 or 4 cheap face cloths. Flip flips or shoes for walking on sand and that you don't mind getting when, when it rains it rains!. 2 or more sets of swim wear, although it is hot, it is also humid so wet stuff take time to dry. Extras to be aware of: The only place with air conditioning is your bungalow, everything else is open to the air, including the restaurant and bars (except when it rains when they bring down the plastic curtains) Make sure the leads and chargers for electrical items work as replacements are expensive. Tipping: Although it is not expected but tips are very gratefully received. We took dollars in small denominations. There is a small library room with books you can borrow in several languages and a shop selling souvenirs, some foot ware, snacks (not available in the bars) sun cream (expensive) I would recommend choosing an all inclusive holiday as drinks etc can be expensive. You will have to sign for all your drinks etc as there are different tariffs (Full board, Half Board) that do not include drinks. The staff are always willing to help you at any time and keep the bungalows, bars and surrounding area scrupulously clean. The only noise is the sea and the birds (they can be a bit annoying at times)

Wonderful island with a friendly service. I lived in a water bungalow giving to the ocean. Restaurant is spacious and offering a multitude of local and international dishes. Only my compliments!

1st time in Maldives and didn't disappoint! We were hoping for paradise and that is what we got...on a remote island! Flying in by seaplane was the start of a great experience.. From the greeting to the 'goodbye' the staff were so friendly and helpful..everyone worked so hard- the groundsmen, room cleaners, waiters and chefs..making sure that guests had the best stay. Our beach bungalow was well equipped and cleaned twice daily. We had our own private bit of beach too! The food choices and quality were outstanding. Every day something different- cooked and presented well. The AI drinks menu was quite comprehensive with a range of cocktails, but if you wanted special ones then they had a cost. This is common practice so not unexpected. The resort do excursions- 1 1/2 day snorkelling trip included in your stay. My husband saw turtles and an array of beautiful fish on this trip to a reef about 50 minutes away. A snorkeling trip to spot Manta rays was at a cost but worth it. My husband saw 6 of them... Both of these trips were on a Dhoni, the traditional Maldivian wooden/ thatched boat. There was no entertainment, which we knew, but the marine life around the bar more than made up for this. No 2 days were the same and our 10 days went by in a flash! Well worth a visit.... planning the next one..

We stayed at Safari Island for the 2nd time in December and we still absolutely love the place. The island itself is stunning. Every corner of it is paradise. No ugly sea walls, no sandbags, just beautiful foliage, white sand and crystal clear sea. We stayed in a beach bungalow this time and preferred it to the over water villa. Waking up and walking straight onto the beach was a dream. The only slight issue we had, which I had read about from other guests is our shower flooded the bathroom, so we had to use a towel on the floor to try to stop the water from going too far. Not a huge problem by any means and not sure what they can do to fix it but it is worth them looking into to see what can be done. The food was excellent. Lots of variety, always fresh fish curries on, delicious pasta, fresh salads etc. You will never go hungry at Safari. What really makes this island special is the staff and this is the main reason we returned. Each and every one of them are just diamonds, kind, funny, genuinely lovely people. Shueyb- Our Number 1 buddy, thanks for everything you did for us while we were there. Friend for life. Sharif- spotlessly cleaned our room daily lovely friendly chap. Special mentions to Thushara, Nasym, Hussain, the mega professional Mihiran, Karu, Naseer, Anees and "Jack". And Rahim for the best pasta yet again. We'll be back in 2027
