Excellent variety of food from many countries, with plenty of vegan options, a huge selection of fresh fruits and delicious desserts. The waitresses and the whole team were incredibly friendly, kind, and welcoming. A wonderful dining experience!

I guess everyone has a mental picture of the Maldives prior to visiting, and all I can say is that our hopes and expectations as a destination for our 50th wedding anniversary were exceeded. This place does everything it says on the tin . . . . . . .and so much more !! The natural beauty all around is stunning with the crystal clear waters, pristine beaches, and lush foliage putting the very best post card pictures to shame. You will not be disappointed !!. Sun Siyam Olhuveli was quite simply fantastic and it manages to cater perfectly for all visitors. . . . .from the quite lively family orientated main island through to the serene adults only Romantic Island which we found a bit more exclusive, peaceful and relaxing. Everywhere was maintained to an exceptionally high standard and spotlessly clean. Food was quite simply excellent, from the extensive buffets (never seen such a range of options and quality) to the specialist restaurants where our stand out evenings were at Culinarium and Milano where quality options were presented in wonderful over-water and beach front locations respectively. Last but not least, THE STAFF. There was an army of cheerful professional people who seem to genuinely enjoy doing all they can to make life as easy, enjoyable and comfortable as possible . . . .and all done with a smile. We couldn’t begin to remember all their names but a huge thank you to you all. Special thanks to Aida, our island host, who was always there if needed and who, without prompting, had arranged and presented a potential “dining and excursion itinerary.” So useful to a new arrival. Must also say a very well earned thanks to Imthi, who kept our overwater villa spotless. . . . .and again we never saw him without a beaming smile 😀, Absolutely loved it, What memories !!!

We stayed at Sun Siyam Olhuveli Resort this October and had a quite nice experience. All the stuff personal was very friendly and helpful. We especially would like to express our gratitude to Amir, waiter at Sunset restaurant for his outstanding service and smiling attitude. People like him make the whole experience at this hotel pleasant. Vlad, Baojie, Yuchen, and Keyan.

It was amazing, staffs are very friendly and professional, most importantly it’s very beautiful. Every spot was clean, rooms are spacious, overall we had a great experience, our honeymoon was perfect.

Sometimes, you have high expectations for a holiday but also a few worries about whether everything will turn out the way you have imagined. For us, travelling to the Maldives was a very special experience. Coming all the way from Germany to such a beautiful and distant destination was incredibly exciting, but we were also a little nervous before our trip. One of our biggest concerns was something particularly important to us: food allergies. I have a peanut allergy, a soy allergy and an allergy to legumes. Therefore, finding a resort where I could enjoy my holiday without constantly worrying about what I could eat was essential for us. We wanted to feel comfortable, understood and well looked after throughout our stay. This was one of the main reasons why we ultimately chose Sun Siyam Olhuveli in the South Malé Atoll. And what can I say? From the moment we arrived, many of our worries began to disappear. Looking back on our stay from 5 to 15 October 2026, we can honestly say that this resort exceeded our expectations in many ways. 1. Exceptional care for food allergies – more than five out of five stars! If there is one aspect of our holiday that deserves special recognition, it is the way my food allergies were handled. If I could give more than five out of five stars for this alone, I absolutely would! A very special thank you goes to Chef Faisal, who personally assisted us during lunch and took such good care of me. Without any long waiting times, he explained the buffet to me and helped me understand which dishes were suitable for my dietary needs. Instead of having to stand in front of the buffet feeling uncertain about every dish, I had someone who took the time to help me and made choosing my food so much easier. What impressed me most was the willingness to accommodate my individual needs. When I asked, a separate meal could even be prepared for me. This made an enormous difference to my holiday experience. Anyone travelling with food allergies knows how stressful eating away from home can sometimes be. Instead of simply enjoying a meal, you may find yourself constantly worrying about ingredients and whether a dish is suitable for you. On holiday, you want to relax, discover new things and enjoy your surroundings rather than feel anxious at every mealtime. At Sun Siyam Olhuveli, I felt genuinely welcomed and well looked after. The buffet itself was also incredibly varied. There were plant-based options for vegans, as well as meat, fish, Asian dishes and a great selection of fruit and vegetables. The range of food was impressive, and there was something to suit many different tastes and preferences. However, for me, the most important thing was not simply the variety of food. It was the personal attention, the willingness to help and the feeling that my needs were taken seriously. Chef Faisal made a real difference to our stay and helped me enjoy mealtimes with much greater peace of mind. A huge thank you to him! For anyone travelling with food allergies, I would recommend contacting the resort before booking to discuss your individual requirements. Our personal experience was extremely positive, and this was one of the strongest reasons why we would remember this resort so fondly. 2. A beautiful, exceptionally well-maintained resort The resort itself was another highlight of our stay. Everything looked clean, modern, tidy and exceptionally well maintained. In some areas, the resort almost gave us the impression that it had only recently opened. This applied not only to the buildings but also to the pathways connecting the different areas. The sandy paths were regularly maintained, and it was clear that great care was taken to keep the entire resort looking neat and welcoming. Cleanliness is particularly important to me when choosing accommodation. Bathrooms and showers are areas where I sometimes feel a little apprehensive before travelling, as I want to know that everything will be hygienic and well cared for. At Sun Siyam Olhuveli, these worries turned out to be completely unnecessary. Everything felt clean, orderly and well maintained, which made it easy to relax and feel comfortable. Our room was also lovely. It was clean, tidy and a pleasant place to return to after a day spent exploring the island or snorkelling in the sea. We particularly appreciated the housekeeping service. Our room was looked after regularly, and the team also attended to it twice a day during our stay. This included preparing the bed for the evening and helping to keep the room tidy, for example by making sure that sand did not accumulate inside. These little details make a real difference when you are on holiday. After a day at the beach or in the water, it was wonderful to return to a clean and comfortable room. Overall, we felt that a great deal of attention was paid to maintaining the resort and ensuring that guests could enjoy their stay in a pleasant environment. 3. Three island areas, countless places to explore and the true Maldives feeling One thing we particularly loved was the size and layout of the resort. Sun Siyam Olhuveli has several island areas, including the main island and the area known as Romance Island. This makes the resort feel much more varied than a traditional small island resort. There is plenty to discover. You can enjoy long walks, explore different stretches of beach and admire the ocean from a variety of beautiful viewpoints. As someone who enjoys being active and walking a lot on holiday, I particularly appreciated this. We could spend plenty of time exploring the island, and there was always something new to discover. We certainly never felt bored. The different areas of the resort made our days feel varied, and we enjoyed discovering new places throughout our stay. And then there is the scenery: beautiful sandy beaches, palm trees, seashells and incredibly clear, turquoise water that you might otherwise expect to see only in photographs. For me, this was exactly the Maldives experience I had dreamed of before our trip – and it genuinely lived up to those expectations. Wherever we went, there were beautiful views to enjoy. The combination of white sandy beaches, tropical vegetation and crystal-clear water made the entire resort feel like a little paradise. We also loved being able to explore different beach areas instead of spending every day in the same spot. There was always another beautiful place to discover, another view to admire or another stretch of beach to enjoy. For anyone who enjoys walking, exploring and making the most of their surroundings, the size and layout of the resort are definite advantages. 4. An incredible underwater world right by the house reef One of our biggest wishes for this trip was to experience the famous underwater world of the Maldives. We wanted to snorkel, see marine life and discover as much as possible beneath the surface. This was another area in which Sun Siyam Olhuveli left us with wonderful memories. The resort has its own house reef, which we visited regularly for snorkelling. Some of our most memorable encounters were with sea turtles and small sharks. One particularly exciting highlight was seeing manta rays around the house reef. During our stay, we found that they were often spotted there, sometimes even in the evening. Encounters like these are truly special and will remain among our favourite memories of the trip. Seeing small sharks in the water can feel a little unusual at first, especially if you are not used to encountering them while snorkelling. However, we gradually became more comfortable and were able to enjoy the underwater world even more. We also appreciated having knowledgeable staff at the Dive Centre who could answer questions and offer guidance about the surrounding area. At the same time, we had plenty of freedom to explore the underwater world ourselves. The facilities were another advantage. Equipment could be hired, including snorkelling masks and snorkels, and diving courses were available for those interested in discovering even more of the marine environment. For us, the house reef was an essential part of the holiday experience. We did not have to take a long boat trip just to enjoy snorkelling; we could discover marine life right by the resort. This makes Sun Siyam Olhuveli particularly appealing to travellers who visit the Maldives hoping to experience its beautiful underwater world. 5. An unforgettable Three-Point Snorkeling Tour – an underwater world straight out of a postcard Another major highlight of our stay was the additional Three-Point Snorkeling Tour, which cost approximately USD 160 per person. Admittedly, this was quite expensive. Nevertheless, it was a very special experience, and we were glad we decided to do it. As the name suggests, the tour took us to three different snorkelling spots, each offering something unique. At the first spot, we were able to swim with sharks. We then visited a location where we could see sea turtles, before finishing at a beautiful coral reef. All three stops were impressive in their own way. The marine life, the different underwater landscapes and the incredibly clear water were exactly what we had hoped to experience in the Maldives. It felt almost as though we had stepped straight into one of those stunning travel photographs. The underwater scenery was every bit as beautiful as we had imagined, and the tour gave us another opportunity to appreciate the incredible marine life of the Maldives from a different perspective. We would also like to praise the staff who accompanied the excursion. They were extremely friendly, and we felt well looked after throughout the trip. Feeling comfortable and supported during activities out at sea is important, as it allows you to enjoy the experience and concentrate on the amazing surroundings. Of course, everyone has to decide for themselves whether an excursion at this price is worthwhile. We did find it expensive, but we came away with a truly memorable experience. The resort offers various other excursions and activities as well, so there are plenty of ways to personalise your holiday. At the same time, you certainly do not need to book lots of expensive activities to have a wonderful time. The island itself and the house reef already provide plenty of opportunities to enjoy unforgettable days. 6. Varied dining options, included drinking water and a comfortable stay Our booking included breakfast, lunch and dinner, as well as drinking water in our room and water and coffee with our meals. For us, this arrangement was absolutely sufficient. We particularly appreciated that the drinking water in our room was regularly replenished. There was also water available with our meals, so we never had to worry about having enough to drink. In a warm, tropical destination, this is a practical detail that makes a difference. As mentioned earlier, the buffet offered a wide variety of dishes. With different meals, fresh ingredients and plenty of fruit and vegetables, it was easy to enjoy variety throughout our stay. There were also additional options that came at an extra cost, depending on the package booked. These included certain speciality cocktails and other extras. We liked having the freedom to decide which additional offers we wanted to enjoy. You certainly do not have to purchase every extra to have a fantastic holiday here. Even without booking numerous additional activities or extras, there was more than enough to enjoy on the island. 7. Plenty of activities, but no pressure to book anything extra Besides the beaches, walks and snorkelling opportunities, there were plenty of other activities available. The Water Sports Centre and Dive Centre offered various excursions and activities for guests who wanted to try something different or explore more of the surrounding area. We liked having the option to organise our holiday according to our own interests. You could be active and try new things, but there was absolutely no need to book a paid activity every day. The resort itself already offered so much: different beaches, beautiful views, an amazing underwater world and plenty of space to walk around or simply relax. That balance was particularly appealing to us. We could decide spontaneously what we wanted to do and did not need to plan every moment of our stay in advance. Whether you prefer an active holiday full of excursions or a more relaxed stay enjoying the beach and the sea, there are plenty of opportunities to make the most of your time here. 8. Excellent organisation and personal assistance from the moment we arrived Another aspect that impressed us was the organisation throughout our stay. As soon as we arrived, we were assigned a personal contact person, and we were given their WhatsApp number. This meant that we could ask questions or request assistance whenever we needed to. What made this particularly convenient was how quickly we received replies. Whether we wanted information or needed help with something, we did not have to figure out which department to contact, wait around for a long time or walk somewhere in person just to get a simple answer. Instead, we could send a quick WhatsApp message and receive a response promptly. This made everything much easier and gave us the feeling from the very beginning that we were in good hands. For a resort of this size, having a personal point of contact is a real advantage. You can relax and enjoy your holiday while knowing whom to contact if you have any questions. Combined with the friendly staff, attentive service and the support we received regarding my food allergies, this personal assistance made our stay even more enjoyable. For us, it was another reason why we felt so comfortable at Sun Siyam Olhuveli. Everything was well organised, communication was straightforward, and we never felt left to deal with our questions or concerns on our own. 9. Friendly staff and a wonderfully peaceful atmosphere Beyond the resort itself, the people working there helped make our holiday so enjoyable. The staff were friendly and attentive, and we regularly felt welcomed and acknowledged. When you spend several days at a resort, the way people treat you makes a real difference. Often, it is the small everyday interactions that help you feel comfortable and genuinely welcome. We also loved the atmosphere throughout the island. Despite the size of the resort and the different areas to explore, the surroundings felt peaceful and relaxing. Small electric vehicles were used to transport guests around the island. We did not find this disruptive at all. The drivers were considerate, and the vehicles were so quiet that they hardly affected the peaceful atmosphere. We could enjoy leisurely walks, admire the ocean and appreciate the tranquillity of our surroundings. For us, this combination of excellent facilities and a calm tropical environment was particularly appealing. 10. An easy speedboat transfer from Malé We arrived via Malé, the capital of the Maldives, and then travelled to the resort by speedboat. The transfer took approximately 45 minutes. We found the journey straightforward and convenient. Before travelling to the Maldives, you might wonder whether you need to travel much farther out to a remote island to experience the beautiful scenery and underwater world the destination is famous for. Our experience showed us that you do not necessarily need a particularly long onward journey to enjoy these things. The combination of a relatively convenient location, a beautiful house reef and the stunning island scenery worked very well for us. Not having to take an additional domestic flight after arriving in Malé was another advantage. The speedboat transfer was a convenient way to reach the resort and begin our holiday. 11. Our final verdict – a resort that exceeded our expectations Looking back on our stay from 5 to 15 October 2026, we can honestly say that Sun Siyam Olhuveli was a wonderful experience for us. We were looking for a resort where we could feel comfortable despite our initial concerns, enjoy beautiful surroundings, discover an amazing underwater world and have enough options to tailor our holiday to our own interests. That is exactly what we found. The aspect we would particularly like to highlight is the care we received regarding my food allergies. Chef Faisal’s support allowed me to enjoy mealtimes with much greater peace of mind, and we are genuinely grateful for that. The well-maintained resort, our clean room, the beautiful beaches, the crystal-clear water, the fascinating marine life, the Three-Point Snorkeling Tour and the friendly staff all contributed to making our holiday special. The excellent organisation was another major advantage. Having a personal contact person and being able to communicate quickly and easily via WhatsApp made everything much more convenient. We loved exploring the island, going on long walks, snorkelling and discovering new beautiful places throughout our stay. Most importantly, we never felt that we had to keep booking additional activities just to fill our days. The resort itself offered so much that we could enjoy our holiday exactly the way we wanted. If you dream of turquoise water, white sandy beaches, palm trees, an incredible underwater world and a peaceful tropical atmosphere, Sun Siyam Olhuveli can offer a truly memorable holiday experience. Some of the additional excursions and activities are quite expensive, which is worth keeping in mind when planning your budget. However, you can still have a wonderful time without spending money on lots of extras. For us, Sun Siyam Olhuveli was an excellent choice, and our positive experience with the resort’s approach to my food allergies makes this stay particularly memorable. We would give our holiday 5 out of 5 stars – a definite 10 out of 10! A heartfelt thank you to the entire team, and especially to Chef Faisal, for helping make our time in the Maldives so enjoyable.
