The Ravenala Attitude

My husband and I was at the hotel for our honeymoon. I would like to point out our experience at the hotel with some excellent and bad experience. We had a lovely experience at Travola Restaurant, and I would like to give special recognition to several members of the team who made our visit memorable. Sharvan was extremely kind and helpful. Even though the restaurant was full, he managed to reserve a table for us at the last minute, and we truly appreciated his effort. Akeelesh provided excellent service throughout our visit. And a big thank you to Chef Jordan — the food was absolutely amazing! At the bar, Bhundhun and Mihir were fantastic. These two boys really looked after us, were attentive, friendly and made us feel very welcome. A special mention also goes to Pouvesh, the beach boy. He never missed our orders and always served us with a smile and a friendly attitude. He was very motivated and genuinely seemed to care about the guests. Thank you, Pouvesh, for noticing that we had been waiting and for taking the initiative to help us. However, I would like management to pay special attention to one issue. Unfortunately, our experience with Ragini was very disappointing. My husband and I waited for more than 45 minutes for someone to come and take our order. Despite trying to get her attention, we felt completely ignored while she appeared to give priority to foreign guests, even attending to people who arrived after us. Eventually, one of the barmen had to take our order himself. We then waited for more than another 30 minutes for our food. Thankfully, Pouvesh noticed that we were still waiting, approached us and followed up with the kitchen. What was most upsetting, however, was the way my husband was spoken to. When he mentioned that we had already been waiting for more than 45 minutes, Ragini told him to “shut his mouth” and said that she was speaking to me, not him. Regardless of the circumstances, this is not an appropriate or respectful way to speak to a guest or to someone’s husband who is simply trying to understand why we had been waiting so long. I have worked in hospitality myself, so I understand that restaurants can become extremely busy, especially when the weather is windy and staff are under pressure. However, every guest deserves the same level of respect, attention and service, regardless of whether they are Mauritian or foreign, and regardless of whether they are expected to leave a tip. I would sincerely encourage management to provide additional training and guidance on guest service and professionalism. There were also other Mauritian guests who became frustrated and eventually left. Despite this experience, I want to emphasize that the positive service from Sharvan, Akeelesh, Chef Jordan, Bhundhun, Mihir and especially Pouvesh deserves recognition. They showed us what genuine hospitality should look like. I hope management takes this feedback constructively, because with such a great team and wonderful food, Travola has the potential to provide an excellent experience for every guest.

Raja & Ishfaaq were absolutely amazing! So friendly, happy, and fun. The service is great and is a must do!

From our arrival to our departure, I loved the cozy yet vibrant atmosphere that reigned there. We were kindly welcomed by the staffs from the reception. Mathieu who guided us to our rooms was really kind and helpful, he really went out of his way to make sure we were all satisfied of our rooms. I personally loved how the staffs themselves were very respecful and friendly ,especially the guys working in the boathouse they were very friendly and helpful and treated each of us like their own family members. Special mention for the bartender from the Beachbar called "Justin" (if i remember well),the cocktails he prepared were just top notch and well balanced not too strong or too sweet. Also felt appreciative of his friendliness towards us he really had an affable personality. Another aspects that I loved about the hotel was how the strays were treated there that is as part of the hotel rather than its flaw. Overall, We were greatly pleased with our experience at the hotel where we were able to make ourselves at home. Hoping to go back next year☺️

We had an amazing anniversary dinner at Ō! They treated us super well! Ashlay and Sean have been kind and organised our table in the best position.
