Bahia Principe Escape Sian Ka'an

My husband and I went to this resort from the tequila as it was far too loud over there. We did find it a much more relaxing experience, and all the staff were lovely. I wish there were more shows on property as the circus show was amazing! Buffet and restaurant staff were lovely and we loved that we had access to all other resorts on the beach front.

In the jungle. Really nice break.hotel great. A la carte restaurants really nice. Buffet food is ok . Hotel could do with a air condition bar. Like Akumal,s one service was excellent could not fault any staff they all went above and beyond. Specially in the heat.

We stayed at the Sian Kaan for the 3rd year straight in June 2026. I must say it was wonderful. From the moment we got there, the staff at reception were amazing. The rooms were clean, the food amazing, drinks, everything, we are booking our next trip for 2027 already. We went to the other Bahia Principe, and had a great time. I big shout out for Willow at the pool, she was amazing, every day she made it so much fun. We still have the friendship bracelets she made for us. Pastor was an amazing server, we did the tequila tour with him and it was a great day. Chef Omar thank you!!! We love Sian Kaan! We love the nature around the resort; everything is so clean. The only things I didn’t love as much was the frequency of the golf carts there weren’t coming as often as previous years and also not a lot of staff working the lobby bar at night. I hope they pay attention to those things, as everything else was amazing! The staff at Sian Kaan are amazing!!!!! See you in June 2027!

I booked Sian Kaan in January through the Bahia website directly for this trip. Unbeknownst to me my travel partner couldn’t make the original dates so had to reschedule. It was easy enough to do so, the dates I rescheduled were less so I had a $300 resort credit to spend when we arrived. (According to the rep on the phone) Well between January and April the Hyatt change occurred and surprise surprise no resort credit or knowledge of overpayment. So during check in I asked and was told to contact the non existent anymore Bahia reservation number. So starting off the trip with not the best news we go to our room. It was a jacuzzi penthouse and generally just fine. The door to the roof didn’t lock or close properly. Out of the five day vacation housekeeping didn’t come two of those days nor did they restock the mini bar/ water. The lack of hand rails being on the third floor with slippery walking surface is just plain not safe. The food at cenote was pretty good I remember a good cesar salad. The buffet was non memorable but the servers were friendly at Sian Kaan. They didn’t offer any room service at any time of day or night and no food options at all after 9pm during our April stay. The lack of food after 9 was really surprising. The cenote looked open but sadly it was not. We spent most of our time at the sister properties, I enjoyed Akumal the most the buffet was better and they did have tacos at lunch one of the days. The “entertainment” at any of the resorts while the staff was enthusiastic it was boring. (Sorry) All the ala cartes were a little off, the singer at Tequila restaurant was memorable and prob the best entertainment. One of the evenings we wanted to walk down to the beach and were met by security guards. All of the pools and beach access closed by 7. The last evening we did go to the Hacienda late and it was a huge hassle trying to get the shuttle to take us back. We ended up starting to walk back which it seems not that far but it’s like three miles. The best part of this trip was going to Isle Mujeres which says a lot considering it was a miserable two hour each way shuttle journey. We still managed to have some fun and make some memories but the negative experiences definitely out weighed the good! Also it was closer to one hour forty five minutes from the airport the day we arrived. We were also by far the youngest guests and we are mid thirties. So needless to say I can’t recommend this resort or sister properties at all! I see other reviews that were posted around the time of our trip mention horrible food, but it’s not a risk I’d be willing to take again. No need to reply Bahia unless you can directly connect me with someone who can refund the over payment.

This was our 3rd visit to the Sian Ka'an and again it did not disappoint. Do not expect 5-star shiny luxury. The hotel remains tired and worn in places but has a charm to it with friendly and mainly hard-working staff. For us we like the access that we can have to all the hotels in the complex, use of the pools, beaches and restaurants. So during the day we are not actually at the Sian Ka'an that much. We loved the furthest pool at the Tulum which we often had to ourselves. Then a stroll down the beach to the beach bar and on to the infinity pool for a dip and to gaze at the sea. We used the buffet at Sian Ka'an for breakfast and an occasional lunch. Varied choice, good quality but was usually cold. The Akumal buffet was the same, the adults only area was pleasant to sit with beautiful sea views and great drinks service. A special thanks to Marco and the boys at the Beach Bar. We did try breakfast service twice at the Tequila, the service was poor on both occasions, one occasion waiting 90 minutes with no food ! At present visits to the A la cartes are unlimited and we enjoyed all the ones we visited, Don Pablo, Thali and Maiko were our favourites. We were lucky to be upgraded to a penthouse jacuzzi suite, again it was tired and in need of a refurb, but it was cool, spacious and we loved the jacuzzi sat looking out over the jungle with distant views of the sea. Entertainment was pretty good, always something on at night. We preferred the chilled vibe at the Sian Ka’an at night. The table service for drinks was often non-existent and only one barman. Our favourite tipple at the end of the night is Baileys which they had often run out of ! Overall we had an amazing stay. For 4-5 days the trolleys went to running just one every 30 minutes and no service to the Tulum which impacted our holiday with lots of waiting times. This issue was resolved probably due to guests complaints. Sargassum is a big problem this time of year and makes alot of the beach unusable. There is a small team clearing a part of the beach between the Coba and Akumal. For a 4/5 star hotel in Mexico it gives good value for money, good food, great staff in beautiful surroundings. Must not forget Camila, amazing customer relations and the hotels star of the show.
