Bahia Principe Escape Sian Ka'an

Visited as a solo guest for a very special birthday for myself. I had heard that the staff/ management would acknowledge this at least with a glass of wine in my room. A banner across the door was the effort. As I didn’t constantly tip everyone as is UK custom and I thought was a personal preference, I was always last to be served at the bar or tables. Seriously left a bad taste… definitely would not recommend this property considering how many other amazing places in Mexico to visit… and believe me I’m very well travelled! My opinion.

Just got back from a 2 week holiday at Sian Ka'an and I would highly recommend this resort, as part of the overall Bahia Principe resort complex. The a la carte restaurants and the food are enough of a reason to come here alone! It's absolutely sublime. Fine dining like this would cost an arm and a leg at restaurants back home. Ideal for foodies or just for anyone wanting superior dining experiences. Buffets are also above average compared to most all-inclusive resorts. The staff are incredible at this resort, very friendly and they do their very best to ensure you have the best experience possible - as with most places, tipping generously is advised. Of course nothing is perfect and there are 1 or 2 niggles but this place is perfect for a relaxing holiday in Mexico and I would highly recommend. Also the 2 best all-inclusive resorts we've been to have both been Bahia Principes (one here and one in Jamaica) so I would also highly recommend the brand. A little bit about the resort. Sian Ka'an is one of 5 resorts in the complex and the only one that's not directly on the beach. It's all part of what is called the Tulum Country Club which also includes private holiday residences, a PGA golf course and other private amenities. It's actually like a giant private estate, almost like it's own town and it's very beautiful. Located south of the town of Puerto del Carmen, it's a good 1 1/2 hours from Cancun airport. Sian Ka'an is on the opposite side of the Rivera Maya highway, sat elegantly in the rainforest/jungle. The complex has it's own private bridge over the highway to the beach-side and the mode of transport is the golf cart. Running every 15 minutes, the "buses" take you over the bridge to any of the other beach-front resorts, they generally take about 10 minutes. The complex is so large that there are several bus routes or lines that are colour coded. A piece of advice would be to tip the drivers early, just a dollar or 2 will do. Once they get to know you in this way, you'll be surprised at how accommodating they are at giving you special "lifts" and take you out of their way rather than waiting for the standard bus. There is a hacienda area which we also had at Bahia Principe Runaway Bay in Jamaica but it's essentially just shops and markets - no bars or real nightlife which is a shame, we were hoping for the same town centre nightlife vibe we had at the other BP resort. Almost everyone we met there were repeat visitors, on their 3rd, 5th, 10th and even 12th visit which says it all. There were some dissenting grumbles about it not being as good as it used to be, especially since the Hyatt link-up, but even they had to admit it was still fantastic. Changes to the buffets you can use and the a la carte restaurants choices are planned for November 2026 which have people worried but not many are put off coming again. In the Sian Ka'an itself, there are three pools, the quiet pool, the mid-pool and the loud pool. All are decent size but I have to say could be kept cleaner. There is a pool bar nearer the louder pool but there is a waiter service on whichever pool you're at which is excellent. Again, remember to tip - it helps grease the wheels. Also the Sian Ka'an does have it's own private area on the beach along with a lovely beach bar, just take the bus to the Akumal resort beach and it's right there. The room we had was nice and adequate but not a lot of storage space but we didn't exactly pack light by any means and we got by. The fridge is restocked everyday with beer, water, soft drinks and snacks. If there's something you don't like and you'd prefer more of something you do, just leave a note (ideally in Spanish) and a tip to let them know. Everything is kept clean and no qualms. There are better rooms if you want to upgrade. I will say that Sept-Oct is the height of their rainy/stormy/hurricane season and it rained quite a bit while we there there. Most days are still sunny and 30+ but the frequent rain does bring out the mosquitoes in the jungle and they are vicious. I've never really been a target of mozzies wherever I've been, maybe it's my blood, but here they had no qualms in getting at me! Take plenty of max strength anti-mozzy spray, wrist and ankle bands, wipes and antihistamine tablets. They won't protect you 100% but they'll help. If this is gonna be an issue for you, avoid this time of the year! We paid less than £1,500 each for a 2 week holiday with TUI including flights from Manchester, UK and felt it was excellent value for money. Many we met had paid way more than that and felt a little ripped off and if I'd paid upward of £2,000 each I'd start to question the value as well. I will say overall it's probably not 5* (although the food is!) but it's still a lovely and welcoming resort and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it. A shout out to some of the staff members at the Sian Ka'an (albeit there are many more we didn't get the names of and also at the other resorts). Juanna, Pastor and Daniel were all super helpful and friendly during our stay. Definitely consider this resort (or any of the others in this complex especially Akumal, Tequila and Koba - not so much Tulum), in fact I'd say if the price is right, just do it. You won't regret it.

This is our 4th time returning to Sian Kasn and once again the staff have been excellent, they are attentive, welcoming and always go above and beyond to ensure our stay is as special as it can be. Obviously the changes to the Bahia loyalty program have been disappointing but everyone has tried extra hard to overcome any concerns. We would like to mention the following staff members who have really made our trip special: Roque from Alux & Maiko restaurants for really looking after us with regards to food allergies Susana, Faustino, & Ramon from the Buffet for always looking after us and ensuring we always had the best experience Daniel the Buffet Manager who personally ensured we were well looked after Armando and Enrique from Guest Experiences as they constantly checked on us to ensure we were happy and enjoying our stay Eldrick from the front desk who greeted us on arrival with the best welcome we could have asked for Jorge and Melissa from the Pool Bar who worked tirelessly to ensure we were never without drinks Fabian , David and Abi from the Entertainment Team. These people work so hard to make sure everyone is included, happy and entertained. Thank you to everyone at Sian Kaan for welcoming us back This is our home in the sun and we're already planning our return

We would like to give a shout out to the amazing staff. Enrique from guest services was amazing through out our stay. Mirian, Antonio and Elina from the buffet, Giovani from the lobby bar and Carlos and Melissa from the pool bar are an absolute credit to the hotel. Friendly and professional through out. We cant wait to see you all again

Great venue, quieter area but well connected with shuttles to other 4 sites and beach… limited food options for ala cart at our site but lovely options at sister sites nearby. Buffet food was cold or Luke warm first week which was poor but second week hot plates seem to be on and food was lovely and hot. Options improved on buffet second week. Staff were fantastic service desk staff constantly check everything is good. Room was lovely and clean, mini fridge stocked each day and bathroom had toothbrushes, toothpaste and all toiletries needed including conditioner. We did the Mexican evening show but at 500mxp per person was too expensive, could not get near the food or drink as these are really for locals so would not waste money on these but onsite shows were good. Did go to xcaret for a day was brilliant and swam with turtles and cenotes well worth doing. we travelled with TUI local rep was not very knowledgeable or helpful which was disappointing. Highly recommend this site if you want adult only relaxing venue.
