Catalonia Yucatan Beach

The hotel itself was very clean with plenty lovely staff.bad side is the way it's run, beech bar shuts at 8 pm, the only place to go is the sports bar which is very noisy and the 5 star reception which has no atmosphere at all, it also shuts early.but the biggest problem is the food and restaurants.after eating in the buffet every night for a week we were told that we were not allowed back in there again as we had the wrong colour wristbands on.so we were sent to the one next door which was horrible, the food was substantially different very little choice and not even ice cream for kids.out of 5 trays of food 4 were empty, absolutely leftovers from dinner time, the diffrence between the 2 were huge.so after about 15 mins of complaining they let us back in our usual restaurant. Now there were 8 of us who had spent average £2000 per person to go there and I have never been treated like this in any of the hotels along mexico coastline. None of us will ever go back, never felt so badly treated as this.belive me unless you go 5 star you are treated like crap.do not go there it's not worth it.

At the reception of the Catalonia Yucatán we encountered Neldy ,amazingly helpful and welcoming. She helped us to find our way around the and help.with the restaurant booking. Also ,Renne at the the Catalonia Riviera was very nice , and attentive tried to accommodate our needs. Xesc(Francisco) at the scuba hut by the beach was amazing, our excursion to Tulum was cancelled in very short notice and he immediately sort us out to Tulum with Maria Socorro as our gide in the ruins ,an amazing Cenote and visit a swimming with the turtles,our guides for that trip were Jos and Jesus , made sure that we were safe in the under water tunnels in Cenote Caracol and that our swim was a unique experience. The Catalonia hotels in Puerto aventuras are easy access to a beautiful beach were you can snorkel, paddle surf, canoeing or just chilling in a sun bed or a hammock under a palm tre!!!. This place is a small paradise , and made or family holiday.a vere, very pleasant.

Everything was mediocre. Beach was small with weird rodents everywhere. I thought the buffet was good and well stocked, others in our party did not enjoy. Had to book a la cartes on the hotel app and on a 7 day stay we only got into one as they were all booked. Annoying. But the worst was we couldn’t have snacks or coffee on the beach. They had a lot of annoying rules that felt restrictive on an all inclusive holiday

Nice property. We were on the 3rd floor of 4 wjth an ocean front room. The elevator was out of order the entire time. So we had to climb 3 fights of stairs every time. My wife has a heart condition, so climbing was a little rough on her. The front desh told us will not be fixed during opr stay. The could move us to another room, but no ocean front and no credit. Th e door entrance to our room would not deadbolt clode, the bathroom dor was off so we had to slam it shut, the bathroom tap low pressure .but the shower fine. The mini fridge was not stocked with anything as I asked the front desk, they told us it is not included with that side of the resort. Not even a coffe e machine for morning coffee on the belcony VERY DISSAPOINTING. Restaurant El Marcado closed most of the time. The staff, bartenders, restararunt staff, front desk, houskeeping were great, Just a heads up folks.
